AUTHOR'S NOTES: Well here is another chapter of the Caine/Speedle/Wholesome family drama. Just a side note I've never given birth so I know nothing. On with the chapter/ Happy Reading :)
HOUR 7
MIAMI DADE COUNTY LAB
Horatio and Tim were helping Jasmine walk to the break room where everyone was sitting talking. As they walked down the hall she stopped to take a deep breath. "Are you having another one?" Tim asked.
"No just hard to walk when you have a 7 lb baby resting next to your lungs." Jasmine said.
They got to the break room and saw the news on the tv. "There she is." Frank said.
"Talking about me again?" Jasmine asked smirking.
"Always. You're gonna give birth in the lab. That I don't think has happened before." Eric said.
"Not that I've heard of." Frank said.
Jasmine sank down onto the couch next to Calleigh. "How you doing?" Calleigh asked.
"Sore. Wish that Danny wasn't missing this." Jasmine said.
"Have you heard from him?" Calleigh asked.
"No. Tried calling earlier. Cell towers are out." Jasmine said.
"Did you try Janet?" Horatio asked.
"Not yet. I don't wanna worry her." Jasmine said wincing as a contraction started.
"Contraction?" Calleigh asked.
Jasmine nodded and cringed. "Gawd this hurts." Jasmine said whimpering,
"You wanna lay down?" Calleigh asked going to get up so Jasmine could stretch out.
"No I am fine." Jasmine said taking a deep cleansing breath.
"Over?" Tim asked.
"Yeah. Is the landline working?" Jasmine asked.
"I think so. I'll check." Eric said going to the phone pushing 9 to get out. "It is." He said.
"Cool. I'll try Janet's number." Jasmine said pushing herself up with assistance from Horatio. She went to the phone and dialed
"Hello?" Janet said anxiously.
"Hey mama." Jasmine said.
"Jaz? Please tell me you're ok." Janet said.
"I am fine. I'm at the Crime Lab with dad and everyone. Have you heard from Danny?" Jasmine asked.
"He called a little while ago. Said him Patrick and Maria are in separate rooms." Janet said.
"I'm glad he is not alone." Jasmine said.
"Jaz what happened?" Janet asked.
"Nothing Mama. I just let hormones get in the way." Jasmine said tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Are you sure. Cause when I talked to my son he was saying he was a moron." Janet said.
"No. Just me being hormonal." Jasmine said feeling a contraction trying to rip through her. "Mama I need to go they want the phone." Jasmine said almost dropping to her knees.
Ryan who was standing closest to her grabbed her. "Tim grab the phone." Frank shouted.
"JASMINE!" Could be heard through the phone.
"Janet it's Tim. Listen Jasmine is in labor." Speed said.
"Oh my God. Timmy our babies, baby is on the way?" Janet asked.
"Yeah Jan. She has been having hard contraction the past hour. Her water broke a while ago. Can you call Danny?" Tim asked.
"Timmy he'll try to get there." Janet said.
"Tell him she is in good hands. We'll call him when she starts pushing." Tim said watching as Ryan lowered Jasmine to the floor.
"Ok. Take care of our girl." Janet said.
"Always." Tim said hanging up and rushing back to Jasmine was on the verge of panicking.
FEW MINUTES LATER
DANNY & JASMINE'S HOUSE
Danny was trying to get to sleep in his and Jasmine's bed when his phone rang. He sighed and rolled over. "Hello?" He said.
"Hey son." Janet said.
"Hey mom. I totally forgot to call you back and check on you." Danny said.
"It's ok bud. I still have power. No damage yet." Janet said.
"Same here. Patrick and Maria are staying over til the road are clear." Danny said.
"Have you heard from Jasmine?" Janet asked.
"Talked to her a few hours ago. Mom I screwed up." Danny said sighing.
"How?" Janet asked.
"I've been spending soo much time with Patrick. I basically made my best friend feel like a fourth wheel." Danny said.
"Jasmine?" Janet asked.
"Yeah. I have been going everywhere with Patrick and Maria. Having them over all the time. Jasmine tried to tell me that she needed some married couple time before the baby comes." Danny said.
"And you didn't listen. Sounds familiar." Janet said.
"I guess all I can do is wait for this storm to pass and then maybe in a week take her out." Danny said.
"You might need a baby sitter." Janet said.
"Jasmine ain't due for another couple of weeks." Danny said.
"I talked to Jasmine a few minutes ago. Danny she's in labor at the lab." Janet said.
"WHAT?" Danny yelled.
"She went into labor a couple hours ago." Janet said.
"I should be there." Danny said.
"She's in good hands." Janet said.
"I know that. But I should be there. I should be there." Danny said rubbing his face.
"Listen I talked to Tim. He said that he would call you when she starts pushing. So keep your phone and landline near by." Janet said.
"Ok Mom. Sorry I yelled." Danny said.
"It's all fine. I'm gonna go and keep your line free. Danny? Call me when you know if she had it or not." Janet said.
"You;'ll be the first person I call. Love you mom." Danny said.
When he hung up he slammed his fist into the mattress. "SON OF A BITCH!" He all but screamed.
There was a knock at the door. "It's Patrick." Came the voice.
"Yeah." He said.
"Who was on the phone?" Patrick asked.
"My mom. Called to check on me." Danny said.
"She say something to make you mad?" Patrick asked.
"At myself yes." Danny said getting up and going into the bathroom.
"Look Bro. Whatever it is. It'll pass. I'm sure Jasmine is safe and when she comes home we can all go out to eat." Patrick said.
Danny turned on him. 'You don't get it do you. My wife feels like a fourth wheel. Now she's at the Lab and in labor and I'M NOT THERE." Danny ended up yelling.
"She's bound to know that we would wanna spend as much time together as possible. She should've stayed here." Patrick said.
"GET OUT." Danny hollered.
"Danny it's storming out there." Patrick said.
"He means go to the guest room Patrick." Maria said from the bedroom door. Patrick left and Maria watched as Danny was taking deep breaths. She shook her head and just left the room.
Danny threw the towel he was holding in frustration. He sank to the floor crying. "I am so sorry Jaz." He cried.
CRIME LAB
Ryan and Frank lowered Jasmine to the ground. "It's ok Jasmine." Frank said.
"Is there anything we can give her?" Eric asked.
Ryan sat down beside Jasmine and brought her into his arms. "Calm down. It's ok." He said softly.
"I I can't." Jasmine hiccuped.
"Yes you can. Tell us about the nursery." Ryan said.
"Yeah I never got to see the room when I came over for the wedding planning." Calleigh said.
"C cause it wasn't d done." Jasmine said.
"I think it's time we checked you again." Alex said squatting in front of Jasmine.
"I can't walk. I feel like I will fall." Jasmine said leaning into Ryan.
"We'll do it here then. One of these strong men can move you to the couch. And they will be on the other side of the room." Alex said.
Jasmine nodded. Tim and Ryan helped pull Jasmine up . Ryan swooped her up and carried her over to the couch. "Eric run grab some blankets please." Horatio said.
Eric ran out of the room. Tim was on his knees beside Jasmine. Eric came back in and passed Horatio the blankets. "Drape one over her legs." Alex said.
Eric did as he was told. Jasmine was shivering. Alex checked her and smiled. "Almost there. 6 centimeters." Alex said patting Jasmine's leg.
Ryan came over and sat down beside Calleigh. "Do you wanna go back to Alex's Office?" He asked.
"I wanna stay here with you guys. It actually makes it easier. If that makes sense." Jasmine said.
"It does." Tim said from over her head.
Frank was standing beside Horatio. "Think we should call Danny?" Frank asked.
"Let wait Frank. No need to worry him." Horatio said.
