Chapter 8: Explanation

Maria's P.O.V

I felt my head pulse, I was never fond of headaches, Professor Stein usually gave pills to keep my madness calm, it's been sometime since I last had one, I need some, no wonder I've been going all mad so much lately.

"Maria" I heard someone call to me.

Huh? Peter?

My eyes flutter open to meet another pair of brown eyes staring at me.

"E-Eddie?" I whispered, ugh my throat feels completely dry.

He pushes my hair out of my face, "I'm here, are you ok?"

I nodded, "T-the usual"

He held a small container to my mouth and I drank greedily. The usual meant every time I have my 'mad fit' I was thirsty as hell.

I sat up and leaned against Eddie and sighed, he leaned against me. Eddie and I have been since friends since I was five and he was seven.

My mother was having trouble paying bills, no thanks to my good for nothing drunkard father, so she rented rooms to some tenants and Eddie and his mom were said tenants. We were both extremely shy but somehow managed to get along, we opened up to each other.

I wrapped my arms around him, "How did you get here!?"

Eddie patted my back, "Long story short before you were gone do you remember what we were doing?"

I frowned and shaked my head, I couldn't remember anything before waking up on the beach.

"We were on a mission in California and we ran into a witch, we tried to hold her back, waiting for an opening to escape, but she did something and I saw a big flash and you were gone, and so was that damn witch" he said in a low tone, his grip on me tighten.

I smiled, "Don't worry I'm here now"

I'm not sure how Eddie feels about me, it can either be that sweet brotherly love or more, I'm confused with my feelings towards him, ugh teenage hormones or whatever.

At the moment Peter decided to float in, he held up his hands ,"Whoah not on my bed please"

My face started to grow red and I instantly let go of Eddie.

Eddie snorted but he didn't let go, in fact he hugged me tighter.

For some reason Peter seemed to tense up. The tree room place began to fill with tension.

"Uh guys?" I said trying to push Eddie away with no luck.

All of the sudden a crash has heard and the cute little cosplayers fell from the roof landing on the furniture around.

"Oh Lost Boys!"

"Oof!" Eddie let out a groan as the fox cosplayer landed on his back, I think his name was Slightly, weird name, but then again the academy had weirder names.

Eddie crashed face down on the ground causing Peter and the rest of the lost boys to start laughing like crazy.

As Eddie groaned in pain I couldn't help but giggle. He lifted his head when he heard my giggle and he pouted at me, a quick image of a hurt puppy flashed through my mind and I began to laugh even more.

I smiled brightly at him, even if I was alone just the thought of him made me happy.

Eddie P.O.V

After rubbing the pain out of my face, I stood up, Maria's probably hungry, madness always did make her hungry.

"Yo Maria sit down your still injured you know!" I said pulling on her hand.

She gave me a puzzled look and looked down at her band tee shirt, I had to treat her wounds and change her shirt. I scratched my face as it began to heat up, dammit! Yeah she's not as skinny as a bean but she isn't fat, I mean she's curvy and those big bre-! I turned away from her to hide my red face. God dammit what's wrong with me!

I looked at Peter who gave me a puzzled looked, I threw him a glare, I've always hated Maria's male friends, back in middle school all they wanted was one thing, damn teens.

I glared at Peter once again only to find his face all red.

I turned back around to find Maria with her band tee up and her bandaged stomach showing, my blush intensified, my Lord Death Maria!

"M-Maria you don't have to do that!" I said grabbing her tee and pulling it down.

She gave me a questionable look only she managed to pull off.

I gave out a sigh of relief, this girl could be a hella oblivious. Good thing those kid cosplayers weren't here to see this.

I saw a flash of gold dust being thrown at Maria like it was some kind of ball. My weapon instincts kicked in and I tried to smack the golden dust with my hand only to find it covered on me.

"What the hell is this!" I asked trying to shake of the dust.

Maria giggled, "Oh that's just Tinkerbell" she pointed at bright yellow thing floating and to my surprise it was a small fairy. I heard fairies existed but they were only to be found in the cave of the Holy Sword Excalibur.

The little blonde fairy puffed her cheeks out as if she were angry, she kept her distance from Maria. Ah she must have shown the little fairy her thunder hand trick.

"Eddie this has been on my mind for some time now, how did you get here?" Maria said carefully sitting down so she wouldn't hurt herself.

I rushed to her side to help her...and so did Peter. I glared at him, I don't care if he was trying to help her, I'm her weapon partner and I'm supposed to be the one helping her.

I felt something elbow my side, I winced I looked at Maria and she gave me her world-famous death glare.

I frowned but removed my glare from the red-head.

"Yeah so I went to the Death Room and reported the situation to the Lord Death, he said you were still alive but in a slight different dimension. At first I thought he was joking but then he explained there was a place called Neverland and to get there you have to 'ride the stars'"

Maria raised an eyebrow, I gave her a small smile.

"Yeah I know weird huh, yeah so there's a dimension portal to get here, either witches magic or flying. That witch we encountered actually made this place on accident, weird huh" I said looking at her.

"That still doesn't explain how you got here" Maria said.

I sweat-dropped, she can be a little blunt when she's impatient.

"Long story short you know upper-class men Kim? Pink hair, tough like exterior?"

Maria nodded, I remember one time at our first year at DWMA, Kim approached Maria and charged her for something I forgot, Maria got all pissed and she and Kim were about to fight but one of the teachers stopped them.

"Yeah, little Miss Undercover Witch?" Maria responded.

"Yeah she and the local Death City witches opened a portal for me and yeah I landed on the ship" I explained.

Her expression softened. When the school found out about Kim and some local witches from a pub were associated with DWMA there was a bit of conflict. Why? Well us weapons and miester are being trained to hunt witches and mostly kishin eggs. Of course we couldn't immediately work with ally witches.

"Kim did that?" Maria said.

I nodded.

"But how are we getting home?" Maria said.

I took out a mirror shaped like a skull.

"Lord Death personally gave me this mirror to call him and tell him to open up a portal for us" I explained grinning.

Maria grinned and stood up to hug me but flinched in pain.

"Maria be careful! The stab wound was kinda deep I had to stitch it" I said making her sit down on the bed.

"I'm contacting Lord Death, we're leaving when after your wound heals, the trip over here did not feel nice and I doubt the trip back is pleasant" I said.

I heard a sigh of relief escape from someone's lips, to my disappointment it was the red-head.

I narrowed my eyes at him as he secretly threw glances at Maria.

I gritted my teeth, whatever I have to do something important right now.

"Stay here, I'll go contact Lord Death right now" I said as I headed out the door.
