The beginning of senior year was uneventful. My summer ended in shit because of the whole Cato drama. It's a good thing I have an absent mother, or else she would be worried about my apparent 10 pound drop and sickly eating habits. It really was too good to be true. Why would an adult frolick around town with me anyways? It was always about fucking.
I was idly strumming the assigned acoustic in guitar when the eccentric Miss Trinket entered the class. "Boys and girls! We have a visitor today! Gale here graduated a couple of years back but he was my best student! He will be helping around here for the next couple weeks! Treat him nicely okay!" I couldn't believe my eyes. Gale Hawthorne is back from the dead.
Gale was aloof. He took it upon himself to avoid interactions with me in class. I find it laughable. It's not like I'm going to jump him. I wasn't the love-struck 16 year old he fucked before. It was a week later when Gale decided to talk to me. "You lost weight" He commented one day after class. "Like it's any of your business" I replied. "Hey, I just wanted to ask if you want to grab coffee sometime?" "Seriously?" I said incredulously, "You left me hanging two years ago after fucking me for the whole year and now two years later you're asking me if I want to grab coffee with you?" "Yeah, Do I hear a yes to coffee then?" He said cheekily. I nodded my head and left class. The gall in that guy.
Coffee turned into a drive down the beach, to a couple rounds of fucking on the trunk of his pick up truck. The metal was cool on my cheek as Gale mercilessly pounded him cock in me. "Fuck Kat, my good little Kat." I was hastily pulling my clothes back on when Gale lit his 4th cancer stick of the night.
Gale talks to me in public now, unlike before. "I admit, I was a bit of an ass before" he said one time while stroking my hair. We were in his room and my wrists were still tender from the handcuffs, but his words soothed me for some odd reason. He still didn't apologize for leaving abruptly two years ago, but this admission was sufficient.
Gale's kisses tasted of cigarettes. It was a month after he came back when I picked up his habit of smoking one cancer stick to the next. We bonded over music and cigarettes (and of course the occasional rounds of fucking.)
Gale told me the reason why he came back to town. "My mother needed help around the house." He said. "I needed to take a year of Uni to help with the bills." Besides teaching guitar in the day, Gale also works as a busboy in a restaurant near the school. "It's really been tough since my dad died last year." He lamented.
Gale was furious when I tried to hand him my weekly check from working at the Cafe. "I'm not a charity case Kat. Just because I told you about my situation doesn't mean I'm asking for your money." He spat before walking away. I just wanted to help. Good job Kat.
Gale stopped talking to me for a while after that. Five days to be exact. I felt pathetic. Every time my phone beeped, I expected Gale's name to pop out on my screen. On the fifth day, I finally got a message from him.
Kat, I know you only wanted to help, but not that way okay? Just stick around me and that's help enough.
I smiled for the first time in five days.
