Just a little ditty about Hogwarts and the Harry Potter universe that occurs to me. Take it as it is. FWY, the POV is Tracy Davis.

Hogwarts is a mess.

This was the words that poured out of the pretty young brunettes slender mouth. Harry didn't like it, but he had to admit, even from what he had seen it was true.

The teachers let you Gryffindors and us Slytherins hold a blood feud in the middle of the school. Gryff's prank and single out Snakes, particularly the most vocal members like Malfoy and his ilk, while the Snakes go off herd mentality, ganging up on anyone they can, even first years.

The Claws have a damn pecking order for everything, with the smartest and best looking at the top, usually the upper years. Cho Chang and Roger Davies are maybe the worst offenders. They use the first through third years to do their fetching and act as research assistance. I hear that's why Luna Lovegood is treated and bullied so bad, because she wouldn't back down or give them what they wanted.

Gryffs get away with everything too. Oh, when you and your friends push the envelope you get in trouble, but by all rights you should have been expelled by now. So should the Weasley Twins. There was a rumor back a few years ago that their friend, whats-his-name, the black kid, tried using mind magic to make a girl sleep with him. I dunno, but even a RUMOR like that should have been addressed.

Of course it's more than a rumor in Slytherin. Prefects and Quidditch members are more than a little aggressive with people they want to sleep with. You don't put out and you're asking for a world of hurt; maybe emotionally, maybe physically, it all depends on who is holding the ball there.

Puff's? They're a bunch of nympho's. No I mean it, last year two sixth years and a seventh year were pregnant most of the year. I worked in the hospital wing and had take an oath that I wouldn't give out their names. I can still confirm it though. All three told me about what goes down with the badgers. It's like an orgy down their cause Sprout isn't ever there. They… They start them young too, if you know what I mean.

The teachers are half the problem you see. Snape puts up a good show in Potions, but outside of Malfoy he doesn't help us. He ignores what goes on and if you complain he tells the other teachers that HE will handle it, and then he punishes the victim. Flitwick is too busy with his charms research to care and Sprout spends so much time in the greenhouses. Rumor has it she grows stuff there that isn't even legal. Magonagall? She has to teach, run Gryffindor house and is the Deputy Headmistress. Word is that the Headmaster gives her most of his work load too. She's good when she's there, if a little strict, but she can't be everywhere.

The rest of the issue is the Headmaster. He is headmaster, head of the ICW, head of the courts and the lawmaking body of our government, member of the Alchemist's guild, and still does research on the side, releasing papers each spring and fall. Not to mention there are rumors that he runs a secret organization. If the old Lioness is run ragged then HE should be dead twenty years ago. He isn't THERE for anyone other than you and the most serious offenses. Not to mention he refuses to expel or even suspend students.

So… Yeah, I'm afraid to walk around this most of the time. And so are you now, aren't you? You wanted to find out how to protect yourself from Malfoy and his little friends, to know what kind of dark magic he may know? Yeah I can tell you, only because I needed it too. A Half-Blood in Slytherin? That's an instant target.

You and your friends only see Slytherin the House of Evil. Look at it from the inside though. We are generally outnumbered three to one, because the rest of the school is afraid of us. We really don't have more Heirs and little Lordlings than any other house, they're pretty spread out. We keep up a strong front, but inside we're a wreck. We step out of line and we're targeted by everyone else. Do too well and they call favoritism, start falling behind and get made fun of. Snape only sticks up for Malfoy because he's the boy's godfather. So Draco can do and act as he pleases, but the rest of us really can't.

I have no protection from a noble house, no power from being a prefect, I can't play Quidditch, and I'm a Half-Blood. So I turned to Dark Magic. It was a desperation play. Malfoy DOES know Dark Magic, spells fueled by ambient magic and focused by powerful emotions. By knowing how to use it I could also defend against it. And if I'm better than Malfoy at it he cannot touch me.

You heard me out, so yes, I will teach you Dark Magic Harry Potter. I will teach you to be the evilest mother fucker out there. You will cast spells and it will seem so easy, because Dark Magic IS easy. But don't be surprised when it taints you. When you use Dark Magic it draws on the magic around you for power rather than the magic inside you. You then use your emotions to guide it. Usually angry and hateful emotions. A Joyful emotion will guide a dark spell fine, but it will change the intent behind your spell, change it into something positive. What's the point in casting a Dark Bludgeoning Curse if it feels like your getting hit with soft fluffy pillows?
