Wood and Snow

Wood burnt quick, and burnt to ash.
Snow fell only on the most frosty days
and a hand could catch a snowflake and watch it melt
away. So many things in the world did not last
and peace was the same. The peacekeepers
weren't the same:
they'd lasted two hundred years
before the world even knew of their existence
and that was the idea: their plan, their boon
and now they were moving on
to the latter stages: to eradicate war,
to prepare the world,
to let the snow fall and stay, and the wood last
a cold winter day.
