No sooner did the words pass his startled lips did Silver decide that it was time to take residence in his own body once again. From beyond a realm that cannot be described with mere words, Silver's soul sprang from within and overtook the soul of the fox by sheer surprise. His chest lurches forward, and his eyes become awash in a shade of bright gold. Silver takes deep gasping breaths and coughs, his body tingling and as the dark aura that had enveloped him starts to dissipate. He brings up his shivering arm to observe himself, and as the initial shock passes, Silver begins to get adjusted into his own. Wherever he was when he wasn't in control, it was a dark abyss, just him and the deepest catacombs of his mind, somewhere that he never wants to bear witness to again.
Once Silver came back, Tails finds himself back in the doll, unable to do anything once again. Though he is a little distraught at having been forced back into the plush figure, he trusts his compatriots to fix this now the the situation has been fully brought into light. His energy is almost completely spent, and he barely has enough to keep himself conscious of the world around him. When Sonic gingerly picks him up, he feels relaxed being held so lovingly by his big brother. Despite the situation at hand that threatens his very existence, Tails cannot help but be somewhat calmed by Sonic's friendly presence; in fact, it may be the only thing at this point that's keeping his sanity in check.
"Amy..." Sonic says calmly, as if to not startle the boy inside the doll, "get me the keys to the Tornado..." As Amy ran to the side table in Sonic's room, Sonic turns his intense gaze to Silver, speaking what's on everyone's mind.
"Silver..." A small pause, enough time for Sonic's voice to gain an intimidating echo, one laced with both piercing rage and stark determination. Nobody messes with Tails, nobody. For a split second, his eyes lose their pupils and his spines darken. "Let's catch that monster."
The dead silence of night, as a blizzard rages outside, a silhouette stumbles to the front doorstep of Tails' home. A familiar figure on the outside, yet a dangerous parasitic organism living within. As it opens the door to the large empty house, its small body collapses to the ground, legs scrambling to quickly shut house's opening behind it. As the familiar click of the doors hinges snap into place, the writhing figure takes more gasps of cold breath, trying desperately to stop the shaking that is crippling its body. White puffs of air fill the area around its deceptively cute face, and it warily opens its glowing red eyes to the space around it, a deadly vendetta on its mind.
It whispers inaudibly to itself in the darkness, collecting it's thoughts as it tries to quell the shivering, it's borrowed form desperately trying to fight of the weakness invading it's every muscle. The creature within cares not for the body itself, yet still needs it just for a little while, if only to obtain the humble game system that will make his devious plans all too possible. Wheezing chuckles escape chattering teeth, and as the small figure brushes off the snow slowly shivering into a curled up little ball, he shines a malicious smile into the room, offering wheezing chuckles to the silence.
"W-won't b-b-be long... heh heh heh..." The orange fox crawls to the couch, griping for a thin green blanket, just something to preserve the little bit of heat he has left in his small body. In hindsight, running out into the thick of the storm was an irresponsible thing to do; after all, without a body, there would be no hands to plug the Saturn into the wall. Luckily, the boy's gloves and shoes have prevented the frostbite that would have made the task impossible anyway. Tails Doll curled up on the couch, trying to ease the shivering, quickly formulating the next actions it would decide to take, as soon as the body would start cooperating. He cursed the boy's weak form, at the same time encouraging himself to go one with his mission, in order to achieve his new, faster, more powerful body. Such a prize would be the skin of Sonic the Hedgehog. "As soon as this p-pathetic b-b-body stops it's damned sh-sh-shaking..." Tails Doll shivers once again, clenching his teeth with the pent up rage of not being in control, "I f-f-finally put my ingenious plans into motion... not l-l-l-long now... this whole damn planet will be mine." After a minute, the weak form of Tails Doll stumbles from the couch, doggedly searching around the house for the second Saturn, a devious smile inching ever so wider on his stolen face.
Wind pounds the plane from all angles, tossing and tumbling the battered machine from all sides, threatening to knock the little steadfast engine off course, but both the engine and the driver refuse to be swayed from their course. Sonic, proudly wearing Tails' signature goggles, clutches the wheel in his hands, teeth chattering, heart pounding with the beat of the hail pounding the machine. Strapped to his chest with a thick black belt is the doll of his best friend, a little toy that is merely a shadow of what his friend used to be. And what he wont be any more, not if Sonic has anything to say about it. And Sonic's never been one for being particularly quiet. Adorning his wrist is a communicator, currently on, broadcasting his whereabouts and health to a group of waiting friends, ones anxious to have let Sonic go on his own in this time of crisis. But what else was there to do? With no other modes of transportation, no Chaos emeralds to currently be had, Shadow and Rouge on covert mission somewhere in a remote part of the world, no way to tap into the Master Emerald's stores of energy without going to Angel Island, and only two seats on the Tornado, options were limited at best. The spiraling snowflakes stick at Sonic's spines, and his nose is freezing. The air is almost pitch black and thick as butter with storm clouds. The headlights are doing almost nothing, and Sonic feels as if he's flying blind at best... The thoughts begin to burn into his mind, that if he doesn't make it... if he can't reach the house in time... if he fails... then Tails...little Tails... his best friend, his little brother, one he would risk everything for, the one who he is risking everything for... he will... he'll...
Sonic shakes his head and clenches his teeth, tears form and he blinks them away as his back begins to heave up and down, how far is he from the house? How long has he been flying? He hasn't flown in so long, was he going his very fastest? When it comes to flying, Sonic feels obsolete. Tails has always been the one to have confidence in his abilities when it came to these things. He wanted to fly off on his own, in this very same storm, from the very beginning, just to go to a convention. But as Sonic begins to doubt himself, something that rarely ever happens, he starts to cry. His tears drip into the goggles, but he continues to look into the sky, not done. Not yet. He quivers in his seat, sobbing apologies to the little figure on his chest, though over the storm, the desperate sobs disappear into the night.
This is so unlike Sonic, he never acts like this. EVER. But now, in this time of desperation, he feels so helpless. So cold. Alone.
But he is never alone. Ever.
A warm hand lovingly clutches his shoulder from behind, and Sonic turns to see Amy's pale and sympathetic face staring at him with loving compassion. Her gaze explains to him what her words would have failed over the turbulent winds. You aren't alone Sonic. We're here for you. We will always be. Without goggles, or about so much as a sweater, Sonic knows that Amy must be freezing. He almost begged her not to come along, but she wouldn't have any of that. Her response to every argument he could articulate were the same four words... He's my friend too. And she came, simple as that. Amy wasn't just being stubborn, she knew that he needed her. In gales that strong, without her acute supernatural powers, finding Tails Doll in that blizzard would have been impossible. Sonic needs the direction that only she could supply, and she's going to stick it through with him. For her friends.
From the communicator on his wrist, the voices of Blaze, the Chaotix, and Silver bellow their encouragement to him over the mini-speaker, pushing him even more to keep going. Not that he needed it... Okay, maybe a little.
Sonic stares into her the lovely teal of her eyes, and in that moment, he got a grip on himself again. With one strong arm on the wheel, he used his other to feel for the small doll of Tails. He's counting on me to save him... Sonic thinks, slowly turning his gaze back to the sky, time going silent. He leers his eyes, and a steadfast expression settles on his face. But he also wants me to be strong. Strengthening his shoulders, Sonic adjusts Tails' goggles and takes hold of the wheel in his sturdy palms, a steady frown on his face widening with intensity of the moment.
Wind barreling at them in all directions, Amy behind him and Tails on his chest and his friends on his wrist, complete confidence in their hero, him. The plane gains speed as his he adjusts gears, foot pressing down on the gas, breaths becoming easier and steadier with each passing second. With the speed comes a seemingly steadier flight, perhaps the storm is beginning to ease, or perhaps it is merely the turbulence in his mind that has gone down. Snow pattering everywhere, a thickening layer of frost on his skin, the whistling storm, a black sky with a light tint of orange from the first rays of sunlight threatening to poke through the atmosphere, Amy's comforting hand on his tense shoulder.
With a final settling of his shoulders and a deep breath, Amy commands the next bit of directions to him, and Sonic puts the words through his mind, willing to follow every step that could help his little brother. Once the words are processed, Sonic closes his eyes for three seconds.
One... Tails and him on their first adventures, running though the lands, fighting old Egghead as a team, alongside each other as hero and sidekick.
Two... Tails flying the plane through the air, after having met so many new friends. Amy and Knuckles, Big, Cream and Cheese, after fighting Chaos, it was no longer merely hero and sidekick, they were two friends, fighting the forces of evil with a mutual partnership. Partners till the end.
Three... Two friends for years... learning new things everyday, from themselves and the vast world around him. Speed and knowledge, a duo not to be trifled with if it ever came to that. And you'd hope for your sake that it didn't. Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Silver, Blaze, Marine, the Chaotix... so many more friends, so many more experiences. Risking life and limb to save the planet they love, to save the people they've grown to love, to protect the innocent beasts of the world. Partners in their battles against Eggman grown into so much more, a loving companionship... brothers through and through. No matter how big the obstacle, how tough the scenario, how powerful the enemy... they pulled through, and nothing would ever stop them. Nothing will stop them.
Sonic smirks confidently before engaging the booster rockets on the Tornado. And just like that, the three were off in a trail of smoke.
Spot after Spot, Tails Doll searches for the Saturn, the one object that will allow his plans to go into their trues stages. It takes lots of time and frustration, but under an inconspicuous sheet did the devious entity find his prize. Once it did, no time was wasted plugging in the harmless cables into their slots, smiling the entire time. Its chest hurt with the wheezing coughs in between fits of mindless chuckling, but once the device was completely plugged in, the takes in a large breath of air before fumbling with the disk into the device.
"Th-this is the last option I wanted to take..." Mumbles the Tails Doll as the machine begins to boot up. "Once inside, the spinning of the disk will accelerate the limited time I have left in this p-puny form..." Tails Doll looks down at itself disdainfully, Tails' legs shaking from weakness and exhaustion, two feelings it absolutely despises. "B-But hopefully, it will be just enough time to obtain what I want once and for all." It slams the controllers cable into it's slot in the device, and holds the small device in it's quivering palms. The rotating disk in the drive spins furiously, writing the code for the one game that threatens to change life as all know it. An incessant whirring fills the room, coupled with the maniacal and insane laughter of a little boy, staring at the screen with horribly unfitting eyes, glowing crimson red despite the glare of the T.V.
A thick black mist had already begun to envelop the room, almost like an intangible sludge in consistency. Red lightning coursed through the malicious fog, forming veins of electricity through the forming appendages of the indoor storm. Tails' unwilling body proudly stands up, spreading his arms into the sky, controller in one hand, the other one with fingers outstretched, ready to accept the evil energy into his form. Tails Doll takes a deep breath with Tails' aching lungs, and the mist passes into him, as well as circling around his limbs, lifting him up into the air in a cloud of the stuff. Tails Doll accepted the darkness into his form, and the yellow-orange fur gained and unhealthy shade of dark grey. Temporary claws of darkness were manipulated out of the smoke that enveloped his arms, creating a ravenous look about the young boy. The black smoke withing his mouth transformed his teeth into even more developed fangs, that snarled and snapped unprovoked, that growled at the slightest reason. All white on his body turned into sickly green, including his metamorphosed teeth.
As Tails Doll opened his stolen eyes, there was no trace of the little boy there once was left, what was in it's place was a monster with solid black eyes, a singular red dead dot in the center to serve as the pupil. A sinister smile is stapled into the face, and a forked, unrecognizable tongue protruded through the mangled teeth. His fur spiked up at the neck, made even more visible through tips of black that frosted in a thin layer on his the body. Surrounding the small form are massive unearthly tentacles, slashing through the air sporadically and flinging various articles of furniture across the room.
Tails Doll laughs maniacally, all pain from his body masked by the rush of darkness coursing through Tails' veins. It is now all-powerful, unstoppable, invincible.
"MuA HaA hA hA hA HAAAAA! YeS! LiMiTlEsS pOwEr NoW wItHiN mY gRaSp!" Tails' voice is horrifically distorted, nearly unrecognizable by the Tails Doll himself; not that it cares, all that matters to it now are the terrible goals that can now be put into motion. "SoOn... tHe BoDy of SoNiC tHe HeDgEhOg WiLl Be... MIIINEEEE!"
CRASH!
Tails Doll whips his head to the missing door, an otherworldly growl escaping his throat. The brazen intruders stand tall against him, seemingly unswayed by the appearance of such a terrifying monster.
One bold finger points to him directly, installing a new level of hate withing the soul of the sentient machine. Behind the finger his a familiar and angry cobalt Mobian, and a dark echoing voice that rivals the monstrosity of Tails'.
"TAILS DOLL!" Yells Sonic, spines dark as night, glistening blue with the reflection of the snow dusting him. No pupils in his eyes and no mouth to say the words, the only thing that angers the Tails Doll more is the small plushie strapped to his side by a thick black belt. The nerve... "YOUR REIGN OF TERROR COMES TO AN END! NOOOW!" His final word was carried out in a ghastly roar, but the Tails Doll chuckles at his futility.
"MuA hA hA... YoU tRuLy BeLiEvE yOu CaN pReVaIl AgAiNsT tHe LiKeS oF mE?" Tails Doll aims it's sharp tentacles at the invading duo of Sonic and Amy, aiming to scare them, but they remain steadfast. "I wIlL rUlE tHiS PaTheTiC rEaLm! AlL iS mInE fOr ThE tAkInG! Do YoU nOt SeE?!" Tails Doll begin to laugh as a booming noise reverberated through the room, and even through the laughing, Tails Doll's words continues through the laughing, shaking the room violently and loosening the very snow from the mountaintops. "I AM THE MOST POWERFUL BEING IN EXISTENCE!"
Sonic chuckles, turning his invisible gaze to the dark entity with menacing confidence. "We'll just have to see about that."
