Ding Dong
Ron jumped, eyes darting around his dimly lit living room nervously until they set on the front door. Fuck. Why were people bothering him?
It was been eight days since he'd walked in on Kim and Shego and right now, he couldn't care less who wanted to see him; he was happy being left alone. In fact, maybe he was destined to be this way. He'd been surprised when Kim told him that she was attracted to him, but perhaps she'd never had feelings for him at all. Had she just used him to cover up her sexuality? Maybe that's what he deserved for thinking that a popular girl like her would be into him in the first place, much less be his wife.
Ding Dong
Ron turned The Adventures of Scamper and Bitey up louder. He wasn't ready to talk to anyone. Not right now.
"Ron, I know you're in there. I need to see you."
Felix? Ron groaned, but shuffled over to the front door and opened it a crack. As if predicting that his friend wasn't going to invite him in, Felix blocked the door with his foot and squeezed himself through the narrow space until he was inside. The former Middleton High School valedictorian took one look at Ron and frowned.
"Dude…you're a mess."
"Leave me alone man, I'm not in the mood."
"Yeah, and you weren't in the mood yesterday or the day before that, when Wade and I called you to check up. Look, what Kim did to you seriously sucks, but you have to move on. You can't keep ignoring everyone and calling in sick to work, hoping that what you're feeling will go away."
"It was Shego," Ron murmured. "Remember her? Bitch had been trying to kill Kim for years, and then once I'm about to tie the knot, she fucks her behind my back."
Felix took a step back. "Woah… calm down. I know you're angry, but there's nothing you can do about it now. What's done is done."
Five hours of Zombie Mayhem later, Ron was feeling a little less pessimistic about his situation. The hopelessness and embarrassment with which he had initially approached Kim's betrayal had dissolved—now, he was left feeling angry and somewhat slighted. Felix was right—Ron couldn't change the past—but he was determined to face this situation head-on and as maturely as possible. Kim was his fiancé, and he had every reason to know why she left him and whether or not there was anything he could have done. The more he thought about it, the more irritated he got. As he headed to sleep, he reached a resolution on how to act next. There was no better way to face his emotions than by confronting their very root: Shego.
AN: So, I'm back! Haven't had a ton of motivation to write over the past four years—or even read fanfiction for that matter—but reading a story for a pairing I used to enjoy motivated me to pick this back up where I left off. I'm really playing everything by ear at this point and I'm not sure if PMTBB will go in the direction I initially intended for it, but I hope any improvement I've made in my writing style over the years will come through, and I'll do my best to stick with the story and hopefully finish it this summer. Should be an interesting ride :) In any case, feel free to comment/critique these next few chapters and I'll do my best to respond. Until next time~
