Iruka's POV
I knew Kakashi had given up, I could see it in his eyes. If the hopeless glint in his right eye wasn't proof enough for me the glimpse I got of his sharingan before he closed it gave me all the evidence I needed.
We were pretty much screwed.
The base the enemy took us to wasn't really heavily guarded but it was a strong base and breaking out would take a lot of effort. Power that I wasn't capable of.
I knew Kakashi had it in him to do it but only under two circumstances. Either he had to believe he could or he had to be angry enough to throw caution to the wind and basically go barbaric in here.
Well I've never been very good at pep talk.. if you don't count consoling children.. somehow I just didn't think that the standard "Your doing well, keep practicing and you'll turn out to be a great shinobi one day" speech would work on a great jounin like Kakashi.
So that really only left me with one other choice.
Granted I didn't have to tease him about it in the hospital later, I guess my mischievous side got the better of me.
Kami knows he's teased me enough in the past so what can I say.. revenge certainly can be a sweet thing.
