For the longest time he couldn't understand why; they didn't do anything except sit there and smell like fishy water. And then he realized it was her way of keeping something unmarred by the cruelty of the world close to her. A tiny, beautiful sea shell that could be broken if she held it too tight, always within reach; her little piece of untouched beauty. For him, he kept her.
