Sasuke slammed into Sakura, full speed… and they accidentally kissed.
Sakura's eyes flew open, wide. And, although she couldn't see past the sunglasses, Sasuke's eyes were the same.
Sakura blinked a few times just to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
The paparazzi took a few pictures of them in that position. Once the flashes went off, Sasuke tilted his head to the side to look where it came from and became scared when he saw who took the pictures. He felt something heavy on him. He looked up and saw the emerald-eyed girl was frozen in shock. She finally processed the situation and sat up, screaming.
"How can you kiss me?"
"Sorry!" And with that, Sasuke ran away with a paparazzo following close behind.
"How can you do that?… How can you run away after kissing me! You're being irresponsible!"
The paparazzi lost interest in Sasuke. "The girl wants him to be responsible!"
"It's an exclusive!"
Sakura picked up her cloth doll that she made for Kiosho. Then, the paparazzi started to swarm her. "What did he do to you just now? Why do you need him to be responsible for it?"
When Sasuke noticed they weren't chasing him anymore, he saw they were with the girl he accidentally kissed. This was bad…
"Yeah! What is your relationship with him?"
"Miss! Miss! What's your name? I want to write it down."
Sasuke started running the way he came.
"Why don't you tell me how long you guys have been dating?" Sakura looked side-to-side, hoping to find an answer.
"Miss, why were you guys so intimate on the street?"
"You guys hugged and kissed!"
Sasuke grabbed Sakura by the arm. "Let's go! Hurry and come with me." He started to run with Sakura's hand in his.
"Where are we running?"
"Let's go!"
"Miss!" The paparazzi called after her. "You can't go!" They grabbed her out of Sasuke's grasp. "You haven't told me what your relationship with him is."
"Let's go!" Sasuke pulled her away from them. "I'm warning you! Let's go!" He pushed a paparazzo down. "Move! Run!"
The fallen paparazzo tugged on Sakura's skirt. "Miss, don't go! Miss!" Unfortunately, the fabric ripped. "Don't go yet! I'm not done asking, Miss! You haven't told me…"
Sakura started pelting him with her bag. "You pervert! You ripped my skirt! Pervert!"
Sasuke took her arm. "Let's go!"
"But… my skirt!"
The paparazzi started snapping pictures of Sakura in her distressed state. "Stop taking pictures!" Sasuke yelled at them.
"You guys, stop it!"
"Let's go!"
Sasuke handed Sakura his jacket to tie around her waist to hide her ripped skirt.
The paparazzi stopped taking pictures and started chasing them. "Hurry up and chase our exclusive!"
"Don't run!"
Sasuke was dragging Sakura through a large crowd. "Hey! Where are we running to?"
"Just run!"
A thought popped up in Sakura's head. "Who are you? Why are they chasing you?"
He didn't answer and pulled her aside, into a side street. The paparazzi tripped over a guy and had to stop to apologize. By the time they regained their composure, Sasuke was out of sight.
A black jeep was quickly making its way down the street. Sai was carefully watching the road. Ino looked at him. "Did you come to take me away because you really like me, or because you want to spite Sasuke?"
"Is that important? Isn't this what you wanted?" Sai pointed out.
Ino traced the metal ring on her finger. This didn't go unnoticed by Sai. "Sasuke gave you that?"
The ring was slipped off Ino's finger. She held it up to her face, inspecting it. She then made up her mind. Slowly, she held the ring out the window.
Flashback:
Ino handed Sasuke the flowers.
Sasuke came close to Ino and hugged her tightly, which made the crowd go crazy. Ino hugged him back.
…
Finally, Sai smiled and caressed her face… and brought her in for a touching hug.
As Sasuke watched this, his eyes filled with sadness.
Sai was giving Sasuke a death glare. After a few seconds, he spun Ino around and pretended to shoot Sasuke with a gun.
Ino and Sai left.
End Flashback
Ino let the ring drop out of her hand. It rolled lazily on the street, until it was run over by one of the jeep's wheels. It broke in half. Another one of the jeep's wheels ran it over, as if trying to destroy it even further.
She rubbed her temples, trying to convince herself that this was the right decision. "I've already tossed him out of my life."
"I didn't tell you to do that," Sai responded.
"We grew up together," Ino continued. "I've been with him for 6 years and he's your brother."
Sai spun the steering wheel violently, causing the jeep to squeal. He huffed. "Don't mention that he's my brother. He doesn't understand the pain of losing the thing that one values the most." He calmed himself a bit. "Someday, I will make him understand."
Ino cringed her nose.
Sai pulled over in a schoolyard and took off his seat belt. "You wait here. I'm going to help a friend to get his stuff back. He got out of the car and locked the door behind him.
As he walked closer to the school, several dirt bikes approached and circled him like sharks waiting to attack. They finally parked and each person got up, taking their helmets off. Each held a metal bat that would rest their shoulder. These guys surrounded Sai. He looked back to see if Ino was okay. She was, but very frightened. Sai casually put his hands in his jean pockets. "Did you bring what I want?"
The leader who had flaming red hair and a "love" tattoo on his forehead sneered. "If you have the ability to take it, it will be yours."
Sai smiled and nodded to himself. "It's mine for sure."
Gaara beat his bat into the palm of his hand, hoping to cause fear. He had a glaring contest with Sai, each challenging the other to make the first move. Finally, Gaara moved. He swung his metal bat at Sai's head, who ducked and then spun around to punch Gaara in the arm. Two more guys swung their bats at him, but he easily avoided them. He tackled one guy to the ground, while the other trapped him in a bear hug. Sai spun them around, so he was facing a wall, and used it to flip over to the other side of the guy, meanwhile escaping his grasp. He kneed him right where it hurts and then knocked him out with a kick towards the face.
He didn't watch his back.
Gaara kicked him on the side of the head, causing him temporary pain. In a few seconds, the group once again surrounded him. Ino unlocked the car and got out. "Sai! Sai!"
"Don't come over here!" he warned.
Each group member was swinging his bat with experience around and around in their hand. A few of them decided to attack at once, but Sai defeated them with a series of punches and kicks to stomachs, faces, and shins. One of the people that held back slammed Sai into one of the dirt bikes, holding him by the collar of his leather jacket.
"Sai, be careful!"
Gaara was coming up, ready to beat Sai… but before he had the chance, Sai kicked him in the jaw, which threw his body backwards into a crumpled heap. Sai was still being held by his collar, so he ditched the jacket and he was free once more. He kicked a bat out of one person's hands and caught it. Gaara got up; ready to pounce again, but as soon as he stood up, Sai threw the bat at his face.
Sasuke pulled Sakura quickly through a schoolyard. "I'm wearing high heels! It's really hard to run!" She held her throbbing ankles for a little while, before Sasuke took her arm again.
"Let's go!"
"Wait! My feet hurt!"
This didn't stop Sasuke. He continued to drag her.
Gaara's nose bled. He looked shocked.
Sai simply raised his hand. "Where is it?"
Gaara searched each of his pockets until he found it.
Sasuke and Sakura came to a clearing where they could see the group, Ino, and Sai. They stopped running.
Apparently, Sakura didn't notice the display in front of them. "I'm carrying so many things, yet you still run so fast. You're really heartless." Sasuke wasn't paying attention. He was focused more on what Sai was doing.
"Take it!" Gaara said, handing Sai a piece of paper.
Once Sai got it, they huddled into a corner. "Get out of here!" he yelled at them.
"My calves are about to explode," Sakura complained. "My dress was ripped, but he still ran so fast. I'm carrying… I'm carrying so many things in my hands." She looked up to Sasuke, and saw him staring off somewhere. "What are you looking at?" She looked around.
"Sai… He's blackmailing others again."
Sakura looked to where Sasuke's gaze was transfixed. A bunch of dirt bikes rode away, leaving Sai who was still picking up his leather jacket. When he stood up straight, he saw them.
"Sai-san."
'Among the 17 guys that I have dated, Sai-san was the first person I liked. Because on the first day I attended Konoha University, he saved my life.'
Flashback:
"Wow! Konoha University is really beautiful." Sakura was strolling through the schoolyard, admiring the beauty of the school.
"Student, careful!"
Sakura turned to see what was happening… Actually everyone watched what was happening, all with horrified expressions on their faces.
A javelin was headed straight for her. She did the one thing that seemed like it was appropriate for the time.
She closed her eyes.
Right before it pierced her, a guy in a red sweatshirt ran up and caught it. He pulled it away from her and stuck it into the ground. Sakura could only gape at the boy. She wanted to say something, but she was at a loss for words.
"Are you a new student?" She gave him a quick nod. "This is the javelin area. Be careful. I can't save you every time." He was completely serious. She nodded in understanding, trying to be as polite as possible. Sai gave her a smile and left.
"Our Konoha University's young master really has an extraordinary talent."
"He's the eldest."
"That was amazing."
End Flashback
Sai threw his jacket over his shoulder. He looked from Sakura to Sasuke. Ino noticed the tension between them, yet couldn't do anything. "Haruno Sakura," Sai spoke. "So this is your new boyfriend?"
Sakura looked at Sasuke and then back to Sai. "Sai-san, he isn't. Don't misunderstand."
Sasuke and Sai were still glaring at each other, but Sai turned away, returning to Ino. He threw his arm around her shoulders, making Sakura gasp. "Ino…"
"Since you've already settled on a new girl, then I don't have anything to feel ashamed about."
Sasuke took off his sunglasses in one swift motion. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because the person she likes is me, not you."
"How about you? The one you liked was never Ino. It was Kaga-"
"Shut up!" A shocked expression came across Sakura's face. "She left a long time ago." Sai pointed an accusing finger to Sasuke. "It's all because of you that she's no longer here."
Sasuke thought about this for a second, wondering what he should say in response. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up issues from the past. What I want to know are the issues at present. Ino, I want to hear you tell me."
"You knew all along since we were young, I liked Sai," Ino snapped. "I don't want to lie to you anymore. Sorry, I can't accompany you anymore."
He fixed his hat and listened to what Sai had to tell him. "This is the answer to what you wanted to know."
"I know!" Sasuke shouted. He sighed and walked right up to Sai. "Take out your sincerity and treat Ino well. If you dare hurt her, I won't let you get away with it." Sai didn't agree, but he didn't disagree, so Sasuke continued. "Also, I really didn't think that you already stooped down to having to blackmail others in order to survive. It was you who wanted to leave our home in the first place. You better stop drifting."
"Don't lecture me on things you don't know," Sai scolded.
Sasuke yelled back, "I'm telling you what I saw."
Sai scoffed. "It's none of your business." He looked to Sakura. "All you have to do is take care of your new girlfriend." He paused. "Did you know that your new girlfriend is very unusual?" Sasuke looked back at her. "She never dated any of her previous boyfriends for more than three months… I hope you can break that record."
Sasuke thought about the challenge for a while, looking from Sakura, to Sai, to Ino. "Yeah… She is my new girlfriend." He started to caress her face. "Moreover, I will use my life to care for her, to protect her, and to improve our relationship. Our relationship will definitely surpass three months." Sasuke was looking confident, while Sakura just looked confused.
