Smiling Pasta

Smiling Pasta

Course 1: Removing the love curse by being in love for 90 years (Part 7)

The full moon overlooked the Sunrise Villa and the two people eating noodles under the stars. "I'm thinking… You're probably the only one who is superstitious enough to believe in some 3 month curse."

Sakura persisted. "It's true. And it has already happened 17 times. There have been no exceptions."

"It might not be the curse's problem." Sasuke licked his lips and continued. "Hey Haruno Sakura, have you ever thought that it might be your problem?"

As Sasuke pointed an accusing finger at her, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Me?" Sasuke nodded. Sakura propped her legs up on a chair that was close-by. "What is my problem?"

Noodles entered Sasuke's mouth as he said, "How should I know?" He chewed on them before finishing his thought. "But if I was your boyfriend, I probably wouldn't go out with you for more than three months."

Sakura looked up at him and then sighed. "Am I really that bad? But then why does my family love me so much?"

"Please. They're your family. They're supposed to love you."

Delicate hands twirled chopsticks in thought. "My mom and dad love me dearly… Take me failing every time as an example… They will always say to me, 'You will find someone who cherishes you.'" Sasuke looked up at the saddened girl. "And this time, my whole family was cheering for me." She gazed at the stars. "They hope that I can fall in love successfully…" Sasuke wasn't eating anymore; he listened intently. "… but I failed again. Actually, I'm not scared to go home…" She looked down at her bowl, not wanting to say more. "Being the Italian Pasta Superman isn't really that embarrassing. I just don't want them to hear that I've been dumped again. They'll be really upset… Especially my mom and dad. I don't want them to think that I'm a girl who no one wants…"

Sakura stopped talking as a small tear rolled down her cheek. Her head bowed as she sobbed.

"Don't cry. Crying won't solve the problem. If you really don't want your mom and dad to be upset, just bring a boy home tomorrow and tell them it's your boyfriend." Sakura sat up straight, liking this idea. "Have him act for you."

Puffy green eyes looked to him. "Easy for you to say. Who's going to act for me? Who would seem like my boyfriend?"

Sasuke continued picking at his food. Then, Sakura got an idea. She looked hopefully to Sasuke. He looked up from his dinner and saw the begging look in her eyes. "What do you want?"

"You… You! You can act as my boyfriend. Just once."

The pop star turned away. "What kind of joke is this?"

"Please! It was your idea to bring a boy home and have him act as my boyfriend."

"I don't want to. This has nothing to do with me."

Sakura looked down in defeat. "Ok… I'll just go home right now. There's no difference in whether I go home today or tomorrow." She got up. "I'll just go home and disappoint them once again."

Sasuke's eyes shut in frustration. "Wait a second. You can't go home today." He started stabbing his food with his chopsticks. "I'll take you home tomorrow."

A smile formed on Sakura's face. "You'll take me tomorrow? So you'll act as my boyfriend? You're such a nice person."

"What I mean is that it's really dark outside and it's dangerous for a girl to go home alone at this time. Besides, I already said you can stay for the night. So tomorrow, I should take you home safely. But after you get home, you're responsible for whatever else that happens. And remember, you owe me one."

Sakura tried really hard to suppress a giggle. 'That's great. I'll let Mom and Dad have a look at him tomorrow and my work will be done.'

That was the first course… The next several chapters will be the second course: The Smiling Pasta That Melts the Ice Mountain
