Loose Ends
Hermione's desk was messy. Currently, it was covered with dozens of scrolls and parchments that had escaped from their neat bundles. A few hair ties, some broken quills, and loose owl treats also littered the desk.
It was the end of the semester and Hermione had been too frazzled to constantly organize, so the mess built up. Frankly, she was disgusted with herself.
She wondered how she could tidy up with a minimum of time and effort.
"Well, if they work for messy hair, surely they can work for messy papers, right?"
With a wave of her wand, Hermione gathered up everything into neat alphabetical bundles, held together with hair ties.
"There." Dusting her hands off, Hermione turned to ask if Severus was ready for lunch. She was met with a glare.
"What? Ohh…" Hermione covered her mouth as a grin spread. She never really felt the need to study household charms in great detail.
"Are you trying to imply something, Hermione?" Severus folded his newspaper with all the dignity he could muster and set it neatly beside him.
Hermione crossed the room and sat down on his lap. "Of course not! But, I have to say…it's not a bad look."
Severus' eyes narrowed as one hand went back to feel the neat ponytail that Hermione's hair tie had curled around.
"If you want…," Hermione moved closer to him and put her arms around his neck, "I could untie it for you."
"I think that might be best."
"Pity," Hermione pulled the tie out slowly. "You look quite dashing with it."
Severus' eyebrow shot upwards. "I believe you will very much regret saying that." His voice was a low growl that made Hermione shiver.
"Oh, I don't know about that…" Hermione smirked as he pushed her off his lap onto the couch and leaned over her.
"You must learn, Miss Granger…" Severus reached down and nipped at her ear, "that there is…" His tongue crept behind her ear to her sensitive skin, "a place for everything…"
"Mmm…." Hermione pulled Severus down on top of her. "And everything in its place."
This was originally going to be a 100 word drabble about Hermione and her hair ties but when I came back to it, it was too boring so with another bit of prodding from drakien, I turned it into this. Sev and Lucius can really pull of pony tails. Sev should do it more often.
