Eagle Dusk

I lay, battered, bruised, and confused. Saruman had betrayed us. Saruman held me captive. Saruman, my long time friend and teacher. No longer. Now he was an enemy. What a bitter ending to this story.

No, I told myself. No. Frodo will not turn. Frodo will destroy the ring, or bring it to those who will. This I know.

The eagles swooped low. I smiled to myself. Yes indeed; I would aid Frodo on this perilous journey after all.
