It was discovered very quickly that Rose HAD inherited her mother's brilliance.

It seemed, though, that she was not alone.

Scorpious was not far behind her in the race to be top of the class.

"My mom has a thing for reading." He explained to her one time.

"She would take me to work, and if I complained I was bored, she had me read dictionaries. But hey, I learned a lot."

Mary didn't seem to mind being on the bottom of the class.

"Some girls got brains." She said, tapping Rose on the head.

"And some girls get beauty." She said, fingering her midnight black ringlets.

"You can't have them both darling."

Which, understandably, caused Rose to hex her.

But Rose had more then just herself on the line.

All the teachers seemed to do was compare her to her mother.

But once she had secured her spot at the top of the class within the first week, it was time to relax, settle back, and wait for the howler.
