"Let me go! Do you hear me?! Let me go dammit! I won't do this!"

Usagi didn't say anything but dragged her friend behind her. The blonde's grasp around the wrist of the raven-haired senshi of fire was unbreakable.

But Rei continued to try and break the other woman's grip.

She tried to brace her feet against moving forward but her shoes simply slid against the tile.

Rei thanked the gods no one else was walking along the corridor because she knew she looked ridiculous.

Usagi calmly pulled her through a doorway and past silent bodies with beeping machines until they reached one bed surrounded by her traitorous friends and those men.

Rei tried not to look but her eyes were forcibly drawn to the man on the bed.

She didn't want to recognize this emaciated version of her Jadeite with barely there blond stubble across his head.

She tried not to sob. Her Jadeite.

Without saying a word, Rei reached out and placed her Crystal on his chest. She laid her head on his sheet-covered stomach and prayed.

Tears worked their way from beneath her eyelids as a familiar yet unfamiliar hand wove its way into her hair.

Opening her eyes, Rei saw that wonderful gaze and beautiful smile.

"Hello, my firebird."

"Did they live happily ever after, Mama? Did they?"

"Yes, for the most part. They were human after all. They had their ups and downs. They had their arguments and disagreements but they loved each other so much."

"And then and then they had you. And Auntie Pallas and Auntie Vesta and Auntie Juno!"

"Yes, and now you've had your story. Go. To. Sleep."

"Night, Mama."

"Good night, my little love."
