This first chapter is from Gibb's point of view.

His Greatest Weakness

~NCIS Headquarters~

~Dream~

He was sitting in a room. His room. He looked around and realized he was in bed, but he wasn't alone. There was a woman lying next to him. She was asleep or so he thought. He got up. She roused.

"Where are you going, Jethro?" she whispered.

He was trying to get his head on straight. As his mind caught up with his senses, he realized what he had been doing not even an hour ago.

'Wow.' He thought to himself.

The woman was staring at him intently.

"No where, Jen."

"You are a terrible liar, especially when you're with me." She said with a trace of a smile.

"Nobody's perfect."

"Really? The great Leroy Jethro Gibbs not perfect? …Unheard of." She let out a small chuckle.

Gibbs just stood there with one of his half smiles. He was right in the middle of getting back in bed when McGee showed up.

"Boss?"

"What the hell are you doing here, McGee?"

"Um, well I do work here." McGee said with a look of confusion and slight apprehension.

"What?" he asked in disbelief.

"You need to wake up."

"What" he asked again.

"Boss, you're asleep. You need to wake up. We've made a major break in the case."

Suddenly, Gibbs felt himself slipping back into consciousness and he saw Jenny disappearing from view. He didn't want to wake. He could see Jenny coming in and out of focus. He didn't want to let her go. He forced himself to hold on. He felt like he was about to fall back asleep when he felt a hand slap him on the back of his head.

~End of dream~

"I think he's still asleep." McGee said.

" Not for long." A voice whispered in his ear.

The unknown owner of the voice walked over to Gibb's and slapped him on the back of his head.

"What did you do that for?" McGee asked.

Gibbs awoke and he was not happy. It was obvious to him that he had been asleep and he had been dreaming about her again. About that night.

"Boss, I…" McGee began.

McGee, Ziva, Why don't you go see if Abby or Ducky need any help filing the new evidence.

"Okay." They both said at once.

"DiNozzo."

"…..Yeah, Boss?"

"Did I say anything aloud?"

"Just something about not being perfect." Tony answered, looking slightly taken aback. "You're not going to hit me?

"Hmm.." He said sounding relieved. "Now why would I do that?"

Just then the phone rang.

"Yeah, Gibbs."

"Gibbs, Abby. I've got something."

He hung up the phone.

"Abby's got something."

He stood up and started walking toward the elevator. As he passed DiNozzo, he slapped him rather hard on the back of his head.

"Ow."

Gibbs smirked.

"It's no fun if you know it's coming."

They stepped into the elevator together. As they headed down to Abby's lab, Gibbs reflected on the dream, he had just had. Jen was gone. He needed to accept that. But as he continued to think about her, he realized he couldn't do it. He couldn't let her go. After all, she always was his greatest weakness.
