I found it funny really… Mione kept trying to get Rosie to read but she would just start having panic attacks and crying for hours. That would then send Hermione into hysterics. She didn't like that her daughter didn't like books. Said it wasn't right.
Even I had to admit that it was odd. Maybe she just had too much Ron in her.
I didn't voice this. I wished to keep my life, and my balls.
I had made the suggestion to Ron, quietly, that maybe he should take her to see a doctor. Preferably on a day that Hermione was working.
So we did just that.
Knowing that we wouldn't get anywhere at St. Mungo's we went to an actual hospital in London.
We waited for an hour or so until an older lady came up.
"Hello. My name in nurse Amelia. The doctor will meet you in that room right there." she said pointing to one of the observation rooms.
Thankful to be getting waited on we made our way to the room. Where we had to wait another ten or twenty minutes.
When the doctor finally got there he apologized many times before looking over the chart.
"Hmm… panic attacks?" he asked looking up after a moment.
"Yes. My wife keeps trying to get her to read or to read to her and she'll flip out. It's very… frustrating to say the least." Ron said honestly as he held Rose who was being entertained by the doctors stethoscope.
"I see." He said smiling. Before kneeling down to Rose's level. "Hello Rose. I'd like for you and you daddy and…"
"Uncle." I answered automatically.
"And your uncle to come upstairs to the playroom." He said smiling.
Once we were upstairs he let Rose into the playroom and we were in a room that had a window where the mirror was in the playroom. It had many toys and dolls and books in many different colors all over the room.
"I paged Dr. Allison. She specialized with children. I think I know what it is but I don't want to give you an answer when I'm not 100%." He said to us. Right then a younger woman came in the room from a door off to the side.
"You paged?" she asked.
"Yes. Miss Rose seems to have a dislike for books. But you know children better than I do." The doctor answered.
Dr. Allison didn't say anything to us before walking in and talking to Rose.
Rose seemed to like her until she pulled out a book. Rose threw a temper tantrum that put Malfoy to shame.
"Bibliophobia." Was all Dr. Allison said before she calmed Rose.
"Yes, that's what I thought." The doctor answered. "It seems your daughter had a phobia of books."
Ron sat there for a minute with this dumbstruck look on his face before he burst into laughter.
The doctor looked to me.
"Hermione. His wife loves books. To a scary extent." I explained.
"Very well then I will recommend a few different types of medicines that will help and after a while try to reintroduce her to books. If the phobia stays come back to take her to another doctor." He said writing on a piece of paper and handing it to me as Dr. Allison came through the door with Rose.
When we got back to the house Hermione had dinner ready.
"Hello Harry. Are you staying?" she asked sweetly as she cleaned her hands on a dishtowel.
"No thank you, I need to get home to Draco, he's making chicken. I'll talk to you soon though." I said with a smile before turning to Ron. "Good luck by the way."
Before I Apparated away I heard Mione ask.
"Good luck with what?"
I so did not want to be Ron.
So yeah… I was reading up on phobias when I found this one. I thought it would be flipping hilarious if Rose had it. And I couldn't resist the temptation. Hope you enjoyed my little one shot
