Question sent to me by Jooles34, here you go.

Gwen's mobile phone rang. Gwen sat up and looked at the clock radio on her dresser. 2:36 AM. Damn it. It was probably Jack; with another alien to kill, or random device to inspect and hope it doesn't kill her, impregnate her, or make her sleep with some random person on the team. That last one seemed to happen a lot come to think of it… In any case, she reached for her phone, and looked at the display.

Ianto. That's weird. He never calls. They worked together, they were always cordial to each other, and she always thanked him when he made her coffee, but why was Ianto calling her?

"Hello?" Gwen groaned.

"H- Hey, um…Gwen, yeah, it's Ianto…you know…Jones, and um, I was wondering if..." Ianto sniffled, he actually sniffled.

"Ianto…Cariad what's wrong?" Gwen was now wide and alert.

"Its- its Jack. If you could come to the Hub, I really need your help." He sounded in serious distress.

"Say no more, I'll be right over." Gwen leapt out of bed and pulled on a pair of jeans, a tank top, and her jacket. She didn't even bother brushing out her hair; she just dashed out the door.

When she arrived at the Hub, she ran down the stairs like she was on fire. The Cog door seemed to creep open. She didn't know what happened, but it sounded bad. She looked around. There was no blood, no destruction, nothing. Just Ianto, sitting on the sofa, tears running down his face.

"Ianto…what happened." Gwen sat down next to him, and put an arm around his shoulder; he immediately tilted his head into her neck, and sobbed. When he was able to form a coherent sentence, he looked at Gwen and began.

"Jack and I were…well, I'll leave the rest of that statement up to you…upstairs against the railing. Well anyways, I moved the wrong way, and then…he- he fell over the edge and landed on his head!" Ianto let out another sob and continued, "So I ran down just in time for him to do that, come back to life, gaspy thing he does, you know the one," Gwen nodded, "and when he straightened up he told me how I could do nothing right, and that I was fucking worthless, and ran off. That was an hour ago!" He leaned over and continued sobbing.

"Oh, dear, he'll be back. I would bet a tenner on it. He's just grumpy because he died…again." Gwen giggled and Ianto smiled.

"I dunno how you can be so nice Gwen. I know that you…" Ianto started to say.

"What?"

"You….love…him." Ianto bashfully choked out. Gwen shyly smiled.

"Yeah. I do. I don't see any point in lying about it to you. I will lie to anyone else about it, but not you." She shifted so she was looking him in the eye, "I, Gwen Elizabeth Cooper, of…reasonably sound mind," Ianto snorted, "Sound enough anyways, am in love with Captain Jack Harkness." Ianto tried to get up to walk away, but Gwen grabbed his wrist and pulled him back, he rolled his eyes and sighed, but Gwen had to hear what she had to say next.

"However, I have a stable relationship, and that's something that Jack could never give me. Besides, he chose you, and he will always choose you. Therefore, he will be back. Promise."

Ianto had water in his eyes again. He hugged Gwen and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"Thanks Gwen."

"Anytime Sweetheart." Gwen hugged back.

From that night forward, they would forever be the best of friends, joined buy the love they shared for their American boss and a mutual respect for one another. And when he came back, as Gwen knew he would, Ianto left ten pounds on her desk with a note.
