Edward's lips curled into a smile, before heading back into the cafeteria. That night my dreams were filled with nightmares of shadows and unknown forces and mostly of Criss. Finally it was Saturday I was glad too, I don't think I could handle another day in high school and it was only my third week in place on the bright side I was a senior so I didn't have long to deal with this but then again it's a long way between now and the end of the school year. It was nice enough outside to wear just a t-shirt and jeans so I took the opportunity to wash my car. Halfway through washing I completely forgot about dry towels and wax for my car so I headed inside.
"Hey mom have you seen the old dry towels for the car?" I asked
"They are in the hall closet closest to the bathroom." She pointed
"What are you doing?" I asked standing in the doorway.
"I am working on a puzzle, and taking a break it is very difficult being a writer." She smiled.
"Oh the grammar." I smiled placing my hand on my forehead.
"Oh that reminds me." She paused for a moment.
"What did you do?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing I just invited Charlie over for dinner." She smiled.
"Charlie? As in Charlie Swan, Bella's dad?" I asked
"Yes the very same I ran into him at the grocery store, and we was buying a lot of junk food so I asked him why he had all the junk food, and he told me that Bella was going to be at a sleepover over by the Cullen's and he explained he wasn't the best cook so I invited him over to dinner." She smiled.
Finally when she was done explaining I started laughing.
"What's so funny?" she asked.
"You haven't cooked an American meal in how long?" I asked.
"That's not the point besides I have some American recopies and if all else fails I'll order pizza." She smiled.
"Mom please don't jeopardize the life of police officer, it's a crime." I chuckled.
"Oh hush." She said shooing me away.
I smiled before going back on the hunt for some dry towels. While in the middle of my searching there was a knock on the front door, then the doorbell rang. I heard my mother walking to the door and then I heard her talking before calling my name. I strolled causally to the front door.
"He's cute." My mom whispered before disappearing into the kitchen I rolled my eyes and made my way to the front door.
"Criss what are you doing here?" I asked in disbelief.
"I was in the neighborhood, want to come outside?" He asked
"Sure I was in the middle of washing my car." I replied stepping outside and shutting the door behind me.
"Well I was thinking about our compromise." He said pausing for a moment.
"Don't tell me you're backing out." I smiled gently poking him in the chest, but his expression was serious.
"No it's just I may have to reschedule." He said slowly as if trying to choose better words.
"Well we never set a date." I reminded him.
"Oh that's right." He gave off a soft chuckle.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked gently touching his arm.
"Look we can't be friends." He finally blurted.
"Well I never knew we were friends, but okay why not?" I asked.
"Because I- I'm not good for you." He finally said rubbing his forehead.
"Alright, but this is about the whole incident at school with Lauren." I paused trying to read his expression.
Unfortunately expression reading wasn't my forte or he was hiding it too well, his pale skin looked hard and rigid his usually electric green eyes were cold and hard as emerald. He slowly walked over to his car, and I followed.
"Why aren't you good for me?" I asked.
"You're really are too curious." He chuckled softly. I leaned against the driver's door smiling up at him.
"What're doing?" he asked looking down at me.
"Well I just have a feeling that I won't be seeing you again, and since I don't have any pictures of you I'm trying to remember your face." I smiled.
