Allie Sefra sits comfortably in her kitchen. Her husband is out. We proceed to talk about the Great Panic and the incident at her school, Jefferson High School.

We were at school. It was a typical day. Before the Great Panic, offensive terms were used like, "Hey, you zombie". Everyone heard of the outbreaks of rabies. We were all scared. At least half of the school's population left. The rest of us had no idea what was going to happen. It was like, our entire way off life just burned in front of us.

What exactly happened at your school?

Like I said. We were at school. Typical day. I was out to get a drink. I saw a couple of boys wrestling in the hallways. They all did that. I noticed that one boy bit the other. He fell to the floor. The guy who fell was one of my friends, Michael. I walked over. I was gonna take him to the nurse. Michael had very deep bite marks. The other boy started gagging, I asked him if he was ok and—

Some black gunk was spewed on me. I ran back to my classroom, crying. Everyone stared. We knew something was up. I told my teacher that Michael was bitten. The teacher looked frightened. He called the principal.

What happened next?

It's a blur. I can't remember. All I know was that we were scared.

Was there a quarantine? Were you in lock down?

No one knew what was going on. We thought that he was sick. Until they walked. My teacher somehow knew what was up. He locked the doors and turned of the lights. He has a gun. A pistol. Loads of ammo. He knew what would happen. The class saw silhouettes. They didn't know we were in the classroom

Who are they?

The

[She pauses]

Zombies. Of course. Anyway, we were quiet. Until Lilly Mulio had to start crying. Her parents didn't know what the hell was happening. The zombies moved in. My teacher grabbed the gun and shot.

Did any other people survive?

No. I couldn't bear leaving my friends behind. We were all the same. I just wish that I didn't have to watch.

She grabs a beer and shoos me out of the house.
