I rolled over and faced him. The smell of the damp sand dunes of the beach entranced me and him both. He grinned lazily at me and reached his arm around me, pulling me closer. I leaned in and then our lips met, passionately, furiously, and I could hear the dull roar of my pounding heart. His eyes met mine and-
Buzzzzzz Buzzzz Buzzz.
Buzzzzzz Buzzzz Buzzz.
My stupid phone vibrated. I broke away.
"Damn. Hang on just a sec…"
He sighed and sat up.
"Well that kind of ruins the moment, don't you think?"
"Shit! Oh shit, Leo they're back! Leo! Leo, they're back! They're back and we missed it!"
"Oh…shit! Chiron's gonna kill us! Come on, we better hurry."
We ran back to camp and there awaited the most spectacular sight. The flying ship had been taken on a test drive with people other than Leo driving because if anything happened on the trip and Leo got hurt or…got hurt, somebody would have to be able to drive it. Well, at least that's what Chiron had said. We saw Annabeth jump down with her Deadalus laptop, followed by Jason, Piper, and several other campers.
Oh, by the way, the name's Sadie. You know, Sadie Kane? Yeah, quite the turn of events right? I start out the host of the Egyptian god of magic, then I bring back the sun god, and now I'm at Camp Half-Blood! What a crazy world…
Any way, Leo and I have been dating (a.k.a. going to the beach and making out) for about a month. The ship was gone all of that. They were scheduled to land a fortnight ago. We've been really worried about them, especially as this was the debut.
So as we all cheered and clapped and hugged everybody I automatically looked for my brother. Then I realized. He wasn't there. Never had been, never would be. I thought to myself, He would've enjoyed a moment like this... Almost immediately I had to swipe at my eyes. Unfortunately, Leo noticed.
"Sadie? Sadie, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"Nothing. Nothing. Just the smoke from the campfire, that's all."
He knew that I was lying and I knew he knew, but he let it slide. After much celebrating and marshmallow roasting, he walked me back to my small cabin. I had my own, partly because I asked and partly because I wasn't a Greek demi-god. I was an Egyptian godling. The reasons for me coming to Camp Half-Blood, well, they were more complicated than even I could figure out, and a story for another time. I kissed him goodnight and went in. I crawled in bed and layed, facing the glass window I had magicked in, and stared at the stars that had appeared slowly in the night sky. I sighed and rolled over.
That night i had no dreams, surprisingly, and my ba didn't lave on a chicken bodied excursion either. I woke the next morning rested and cheerful, until I met Piper and Jason, both headed my way with grim looks on their faces.
"It's a meeting. Chiron said to come and get you. Your supposed to come, now."
"Oh no. Is it Leo? Is he okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. He's fine. But the camp, and the world won't be if you don't come."
A/N What do you think? Huh? Huh? Next chapter coming up soon!
