Btw Katie and Marcus are in the same year in this fic.
She never told him what they had lost. She didn't want him to feel the pain that entombed her everyday.
They had begun seeing each other in secret in 6th year. They were just messing, having a laugh. It didn't mean anything. Then.
It soon became too much for Katie and she left him. He didn't realise until then that he loved her. She was his sun in these dark times.
It was then she found out. She discovered she was pregnant. By Marcus Flint. She knew she had to tell him but feared his reaction.
What if it made him hate her?
What if it made him want them to be open?
What if it made him realise his feelings?
They were all things Katie wasn't ready to face. So she didn't tell him.
But he was persistent. He loved her and wanted her to know that too. So he told her and she found it was what she wanted to hear.
But it was too late. She had miscarried.
She couldn't bear the pain that engulfed her everyday. She couldn't bear to tell Marcus what they had lost. She never told anyone why she miscarried.
She never told anyone about Marcus's best friend being the reason.
He had found out about them and blamed Katie believing she had somehow hexed his best friend into the relationship.
Katie told Madam Pomfrey she had tripped down the stairs. It was the only way to explain being found at the bottom of the Astronomy Tower steps, unconscious without snitching that she had been attacked and pushed. She knew he would deny it and it would be his word against hers. She didn't tell anyone.
Not about the pregnancy.
Not about the miscarriage.
Not about the attack.
She never told Marcus about their baby. Instead she suffered in silence.
