After about an hour of looking with hospital security Cooper decides he better call Jen and tell her he lost Ethan before calling the police. He picks up the phone and she answers after two rings. "Yeah, Cooper?"
"I have to talk to you about Ethan."
"You lost him."
"How did you know?"
"The cops just dropped him off at my door. They saw him walking along the highway. Seven year old boys don't belong on the highway."
"He was walking on the highway?"
"The cops saw him trying to cross and called him over and drove him home. I told them it was his incompetent father's fault, not mine, so forget going to court ever to get custody. The cops wrote out a report. They'll probably be paying you a visit today."
"I was at the hospital. Charlotte had the twins last night."
"I don't care Cooper, just cause you have twins now doesn't mean you get to throw away Ethan like he's yesterday's garbage."
"I didn't. He was supposed to be watching TV in the waiting room."
"He could have been killed crossing that highway. If anything happened to him I'd sue you for your last penny."
"I'm sorry. I didn't think he would wander off."
"He's seven, Cooper. You neglected him. You may think I'm bad, but you're just as bad or worse."
"Can I talk to him?"
"Ethan, Dr. Cooper is on the phone!"
A few minutes later she comes back, "Ethan doesn't want to talk to you."
"Okay. I'll try again later." Cooper walks to Charlotte's hospital room. "The cops found Ethan trying to cross the highway."
"What? Why would he try to leave the hospital?" Charlotte asks holding her new baby boy and feeding him a bottle.
"He was walking home."
"Why?"
"I guess he was bored sitting around the hospital so he tried to walk home."
"Did you talk to him?"
"He didn't want to talk to me." Cooper picks up his baby girl from the hospital newborn cart and begins to feed her. "This is heaven," he says as he admires his new baby daughter.
"It is." Charlotte smiles at him and then both of her babies. "We're the perfect family."
"Do you want to have another one?"
"Bite your tongue, Cooper. I just gave birth to twins for you."
"I know. It's just I've always dreamed of a house full of kids."
"Speaking of houses, we better start looking. We don't have any room in the loft."
"I know, I'll call the real estate agent as soon as I'm done feeding Chloe."
"Cody is almost done with his bottle, I'll call."
"You just want to make sure you tell the real estate agent where you want to live."
"Not true." Charlotte shrugs.
"It's okay, we can live wherever you want. You gave me Cody and Chloe, the best two gifts ever."
Charlotte smiles.
