Hey guys! How is life? Did you like the last chapter? Also, this book 2 is going to be similar to last airbender in a sense I guess. So sorry for the long update, I really had to refresh my memory on how this story goes after having spent a month away from it because of Finals. I hope my writing skills haven't slacked off. I am also working on a new fanfic with my friend so...yeah, less time to work on this fanfic. Hope you guys like this chapter. I appreciate all reviews. I hope you guys are still interested in the story even though a month passed.

Book 2:Bonds

Chapter 4: Those Times

Cheryl's POV:

"I'm really fine, you guys." I force a fake smile onto my face. Akina gives me a concerned look and places her hand onto my shoulder.

"You can always tell me your real feelings, Cheryl. I'm here for you." I shake my head 'no'. At the same time, I try to get rid of the nostalgic feeling in my head and focus on the current situation.

"Let's work on the Earth Queen problem first." I rush the words out quickly to get ourselves back on topic. (A/N: I know right? Sudden change. XD) "Well, as the Avatar, I think that we need to get the United Republic out of the Earth Queen's control. She did just suddenly take land out of nowhere. The world is meant to have these 5 nations intact, she went out of her boundaries. But I am curious as to why she just made her move. She had such a long period of time to do so, why now? I get that she needed to make weapons, but 15 years." I looked to the others. Sean studied the ground and rubbed his chin.

"15 years is a long time. Cheryl has a point." Akina jumped up.

"Wait, you forgot the fact that this Queen only came into power about a year ago. (A/N: If got time amount wrong, forgive me). For the other 14 years, it was the Earth King Wu. He had good relations with Republic City, that could explain why." It made some sense now, it was this Queen's actions. Did she have a grudge or something, to go into war so easily?

"Let's focus on what to do to get her out of power, rather then why." said Sean sternly. Everyone looked to me.

"Well, the Queen has an entire army. We could never do this alone. We're going to need help. Not just from other nations, but Republic City itself." I said firmly. Bryant gave me a confused look.

"Republic City is down already. How are we suppose to get help from them? Besides, the streets are on lockdown-" I tuned out on the conversation as I felt vibrations. Again?! I thought we weren't followed. I felt the others stare at me as I stood up suddenly. Producing fire daggers in both of my hands I rushed outside, ready to face whatever perpetrator was out there. I hear the others' footsteps thump behind me as I steped onto the hard soil ground. To my surprise, it was Sona, Katara, Irwin, Ivy, Alex, Johnny, and Anaya. I looked behind me, the others were just as confused as me.

Suddenly, I felt something hug me on the knees. I looked down, finding Johnny clutching onto my legs. He looked up at me with that same toothy smile. Next, I was met up with hugs from Ivy and Alex. I tried to lower myself, but failed at the attempt. It resulted in me landing on my back and laughing. I see Katara and Anaya smile at each other before trying to get the kids off of me. It took some time, but eventually the women got the kids off of me.

"What are you all doing here? Aren't you guys suppose to be in the South Pole?" I asked gently. I heard Bryant clear his throat behind me. Sheepishly, I rubbed the back of my head and laughed.

"Sorry, forgot to introduce you guys. This is Anaya and Johnny. I bumped into them while...heh...I ran away." I turned my attention to Anaya and twiddled my fingers.

"So...um, did you...um?" I found myself struggling to ask if they found my true identity. She seemed to be confused at first, but when Katara gave her a glance, she seemed to come to realization at what I meant when her face went 'oh'.

"You're the Avatar right?" Johnny blurted out. Guess they found out. "Bend! Bend!"

"Bend! Bend!" Ivy and Alex joined in too. I sighed, lowered myself, and did as requested, once again creating fire in one hand and making and tiny air tornado in the other. Johnny stared in awe, and hesitatingly touched the tiny tornado, while Ivy and Alex took a look at the flame.

"She really is the Avatar." I heard Anaya whisper out. I quickly extinguished the two elements, making the children groan in disappointment.

When I brought myself back to normal height, my eyes met with Katara's, they were concern and worried. I had a feeling I was going to get a talk.

"Why don't we go inside? Who knows if it's safe out here?" Sean asked. Everyone agreed. I noticed that Katara hung back from the others, so I did the same. Everyone else went inside except for Katara and me. The only other being out here was Sona who was too big to fit inside my summer cottage. She knelt down next to me, expecting a hug as her furry head nudged against my arm. I placed my arm around her head and leaned on her while closing my eyes, just enjoying that moment of peace.

"I missed you too girl. Sorry for leaving you behind, but you just disappeared and there was no time to search. Forgive me?" I said sweetly. She just leaned in closer to my touch as if to say yes.

"What did you want to talk about Katara?" I asked her, my eyes still closed.

"Ah, you have quite an eye there child," her voice had a hint of amusement as I heard her approach me and than sat down next to me. I did the same. "Are you hurt?"

"Huh?" My eyes opened in surprise to her question "What do you mean?" I put myself in a cross-legged position to converse with her better. She raised a brow and pushed up my long sleeved shirt to reveal a bunch of bandages on my right arm. I had gotten so used to enduring the pain of moving my muscles around that I didn't notice how much they actually hurt till now. I mean it was true that Akina had healed a lot of the major injuries I had, but there were still minor ones since she tirelessly tried to heal all the wounds. Nevertheless, I appreciated her amazing abilities and caring nature. There were also some from the muscle that healers couldn't heal, only the body could do that on its own.

"It's nothing." I say cheerfully and tries to cover up the wound site. She sighs.

"You know, it's these little things that have a big effect later on. You can't ignore them."

"I know, I know" I say back annoyingly, but not too much so she knew that I was serious on the matter.

"I heard about what happened. You sure you are okay? I know you are the independent type, and you're starting to learn to rely on others. But as a mentor I have a feeling you are holding back just a little."

"I just don't want others to get too worried or caught up on what I'm feeling. If you want to know what I'm thinking about right now, its about the city. How will I ever get it back? What if I fail?" She places a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

"You know, it's normal to think that way. Aang and Korra had those very same thoughts. You could read it on their faces. That determination to bring things back to order, you have that written on your face too right now. So don't worry about doing things right, right now. Cause you are."

"But I haven't mastered water-bending. Akina even tried teaching me, and I totally failed at it. Plus, Asami probably got imprisoned. The city is on lock-down, so if I go there, I'll instantly get caught. I have no idea what to do."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down there girl. I know you are thinking big. That's good. But you gotta calm down first and take things one step at a time. At least you know what you have to do. Plus, I heard this is your city, right? You know the streets like the back of your hand, you'll find a way to go through them without trouble. The city isn't on lock down either, it's bustling down there like a normal day." How can that be? I'm pretty sure the others told me how silent the streets were when they arrived. Had the Queen lifted it? If she had, for what reason? Katara seemed to notice my facial expression change, but continued with her sentences. "As for water-bending, learning the elements isn't about everything. We have people to do that. We need someone to lead us. But you should have the basics at hand, I'm the best waterbender in the world right? I could teach you here. It might be of good use since the city is partially a dock." She paused to wait for me to answer.

"How did you not get caught then?"

"The city should be on lock down, and I'm pretty sure she stopped the trading routes."

"We actually sneaked in through the hills, but you could see that the people in the city were on the daily normal schedule other than the war machines guarding the area." I nodded.

"Well, how come Anaya and Johnny are here? And why did you bring the kids, it's a dangerous situation around here. Besides, I don't think the Earth Queen is fond of outsiders nor Avatar Korra's family-" How come I knew that the Queen didn't like Avatar's families? Considering that she took over a nation, I get why...But something just kept nagging me that the Queen didn't like anyone related to them in any sort, and not on a political level. Something deeper, I just couldn't put my finger on it. Katara looked at me with concern again.

"Go on."

"With what?"

"You were asking me more questions right?"

"Oh right. Where are the Red Lotus now? Did you guys get to talk with other countries?"

"In the Fire Nation, the closest prison. Why? As for the other countries, they have shown concern too, but they said that they want to provide support. However, they don't exactly know what is the Queen's plans. As long as she doesn't attack any more, than the other nations have no right to be hostile to her. We don't need another world war again."

"Are you going to participate? In the war?" She shook her head no.

"This is something you guys need to do."

"I see," I looked up to Aang's statue, "I was hoping to get the Red Lotus to help rebuild the world after all this terror. Maybe even their help, it's risky … hey, I said I'll give them a 2nd chance even if we are in an vulnerable state." She nodded respectfully.

"Thanks, you know. For being here to talk it out. I had lots of friends...but not in a certain way...even though personally I haven't been friends with you long...I feel like I can just speak more freely with you...could just be Korra...but I enjoy this moment of peace" She pulled me in so that I was leaning on her shoulder.

"I know dear..."

"Wish the world could be at peace forever..." I murmured as my eyes slowly closed. She chuckled and placed her head on mine. (A/N: Yes, I forgot the question about Anaya and Johnny, it's coming later).

Akina's POV:

We had all went inside as told, and sat in the living room.

"Where's Cheryl?" Lily asked from her sofa seat. I looked around. Where was Cheryl?

"Katara's missing too." added Irwin.

"I'll go check outside." I told them before stepping out of the room. When I opened the door to the outside, I found Sona, Katara, and Cheryl sitting next to each other. They didn't notice me as their backs were facing me. I stayed inside, having the door wide open so I could clearly see them, but not disturb their talk.

"It's nothing." I heard Cheryl say and she pushed her sleeve down.

"You know, it's these little things that have a big effect later on. You can't ignore them." Katara said back.

"I know, I know" Cheryl annoyingly replied.

What if I fail?" I hear hear the worry in Cheryl's voice, it concerned me. Katara placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. I felt myself smile. At least Katara could get through to her. I'll leave them to be.

I quietly closed the door and returned to the living room where everyone was chatting and catching up. They all looked up when I came in.

"How come they're not with you?" Branyt asked.

"They're having a little talk. Why don't we talk with ourselves first and get back to them?" I replied. They all nodded.

"Anaya was just explaining how she and Johnny met with Cheryl." said Sean. I nodded my head slightly and plopped on the couch next to Lily as I directed my attention to Anaya. By her appearance, she looked of one of the Water Tribes.

"So how you did?"

"Well, she came across my restaurant one day in this light blue cloak. When she had just sat down, Johnny had fallen down because his ladder broke and Cheryl managed to catch him. That's how I got a good look at her face."

"It was also the same day that Cheryl had gotten missing." Sean added. Anaya nodded a 'yes'.

"She was quite a quiet feller, and it was confusing to me on how such a young person was walking around all alone. She didn't speak much of herself, but by what she was wearing and her ways at that time, I had a feeling she ran away. I later gave her a pep talk to get her on track. At first she seemed dazed and still out in her little world till I talked about the past Avatars. It seemed to have enlightened her and I gave her my number in case she ever felt like talking again. Then one day a badger mole came strolling around. It kept sniffing around my restaurant place and it seemed pretty sad. It whined and planted itself in front of the store. Johnny managed to make friends with it and calm it down while I told an official about it during the recovery of the Red Lotus attack. Katara later came down with Ivy and Alex. The two children and the badger-mole being excited to be reunited. I asked if it was theirs, they replied 'no' saying that it was the Avatar's. Which surprised me a lot, I knew that kids didn't really lie, but the answer just seemed outrageous. I didn't see any Avatar roaming around my little place. Katara seemed bit hesitant to tell me till Johnny came up to me and jump excitedly telling me that Cheryl was the Avatar. I scolded him saying that he shouldn't make assumptions, but he denied lying ,saying that the prince and princess had told him. That's when Katara told me the truth."

"Wow." I said as Lily clapped her hands while the others remained silent.

"So what made you want to come here?" I asked. She playfully messed up Johnny's hair and laughed.

"This little boy wanted to say hi again to Cheryl and insisted on coming here."

"I wanna save the world!" Johnny pumped his fist into the air. She laughed again.

"Silly, that's the Avatar's job."

"What about those two?" I gestured to Ivy and Alex. Irwin crossed his arms disapprovingly.

"They had sneaked aboard the ship to here. I'm sure Grandpa is very worried about you two back home," He said sternly to the kids. They giggled nervously and looked at each other, "We're planning to send them back."

"Awww," The twins said in unison, "Johnny get to stay here and he's about our age." They argued.

"Still a no." He said back.

"I say let them stay. What if they sneak back here? We wouldn't know where they are." I stated. Irwin looked to the ground to consider the possibilty.

"Fine."

"Yay!" The twins cheered.

Guys, this is not the climax. Just saying. I just wanted to have some of the previous book's characters come back because I thought it would be fun. The other reason other than Finals for taking so long to write is because I have a good ending planned, but I find it hard to do the plot. Well, the middle part of the plot. They are still in Republic City, just the outskirts of it if you guys are wondering. Sorry about the grammar and spelling mistakes, I was typing this really fast so you guys could get it faster since it has been a month. Don't know if Katara is too OOC though, please tell me if they are. Also, please suggest anyone that you guys want the POV to be in. And yes, there are sudden shifts in topic. Hope you guys enjoyed this, and hope you guys review this chapter.
