Rude Awakening

"And Kururugi?" Cornelia asked as she walked alongside Guilford.

"We had to wait until his energy filler ran out before we could retrieve him. It seemed like his knightmare went berserk for some reason."

Cornelia's disgusted expression turned to a disappointed frown. "A failure unworthy of my younger sister's forces.

A small group of old men surrounded a small fire which highlighted their wrinkles. Among the group was a young girl. Her black hair shining in the fire's light while her green eyes seemed to glow without the need of fire.

"Tohdoh is still strong and still fighting—"

"Yes but is it not unwise to place our hopes for Japan's future on one man's shoulders?"

"So you mean to say that this situation is hopeless?"

It was here that the girl dressed in a pink kimono spoke up. "But there is hope!"

All eyes turned to her. "Do you mean the White knights?"

"You've been infatuated with them ever since they rescued Suzaku Kururugi." There was not a single trace of malice or disrespect in the old men's voices and treated her with kindness and respect. They all knew she was wise well beyond her years. "We've even sent them the MK II because of how much you seem to support them."

To this the young girl smiled and thanked them for their courtesy.

When Shirley made her seventh distressed sound fifteen minutes into their club time, Milly decided that something was up.

"Alright, what's got you so bummed out? Constipated? Your monthly!? Wait! Don't tell me. It's because you're missing Schneizel aren't you?"

A blush swept through her before Shirley could push it down. "M-more like Kallen's gone the same day he is… again…"

Milly smiled to her friend before sighing dreamily and crossing her hands under her bust. "While the world grapples with the depressing events at Narita, you—"

"It's not that! It's just that it seems a little suspicious to me for Kallen and Schneizel to be gone the same day!"

Milly chuckled in amusement. "I envy you Shirley. Just tell him already! Three little words. 'I like you.'"

Shirley nearly choked on her own spit. "I couldn't! I just couldn't!"

The blonde then leaned against the window and stared out over the school. "It's comfortable isn't it? The way thing are now?"

Shirley was slightly surprised at the abrupt change of topic before she answered with a smile of her own. "Yeah, it is."

"But the sad thing is, nothing stays the same forever, ya know?"

"Here, a letter from Kyoto."

Infinite raised the small letter up to where his eyes were as he stared at it. It took a while for them to respond.

"This is great, it could solve our financial crisis," Ohgi said as he smiled brightly at the leader of the White Knights before looking towards his comrades. All of which were sitting or standing in odd places. Some reading books while others stared off into space, either daydreaming or reliving the events that brought them to where they are now.

"Financial crisis? There shouldn't be one if you are following the budget plan I layer out."

The shamed look on his subordinates face cause Schneizel to feel slightly guilty for using such a firm voice.

"Well, uh…."

"Hey it's not my fault! We're turning into a big organization! That means new expenses you know!" Tamaki yelled even though he was sitting right next to them.

Kallen immediately raised her head from the book she was reading in order to smirk at Tamaki. "Oh? Does that include the special dinners you keep taking the new female recruits?" Tamaki whipped his head around to glare at Kallen.

"Why you..."

Kallen made sure her back was to Infinite before sticking her tongue out immaturely. Though he couldn't see what she was doing, Schneizel could accurately guess what it was. His white clad shoulders visibly sagged as he let out a sigh.

"I'll leave the financial affairs to you, Ohgi."

Schneizel quickly got up from his seat and headed upstairs towards the room that was meant for him. Tamaki's shouts followed him there, asking him to rethink his decision. Like hell I will.

What nearly stopped him was when Tamaki brought in the fact that he hid his face from them all. Just as he was about to turn around and try to diffuse the bomb that was about to go off, he heard Kallen and Ohgi immediately defend his position. I'll just leave it to them.

C.C. frowned as she heard grunts coming from the Student Council room. She had been on her way to meet up with L.L. and Suzaku in the dining room before realizing that she had left her bag near her chair when she cut her work time short.

Night had fallen so the green haired teenager thought she would be alone. Clearly that wasn't the case. C.C. immediately pushed her back to the wall, thankful that the door had been left open. The windows didn't have any blinds so the moonlight filtered in easily.

Is that….Nina…?

C.C. continued to watch Nina and the way she shifted and grunted before realizing exactly what the girl was doing. A large heavy blush immediately found its way across her face before her pale hands came over her eyes. She quickly turned towards the direction of the dining room used by her and L.L. and started running, trying to make as little noise as possible.

It wasn't odd that every once in a while she and L.L. would discover a classmate or two that was whoring themselves and whatnot when snooping around, but when there was an inkling of possibility that such was the case, L.L. would tell C.C. to stop before continuing on his own.

In other words, because of his maternal nature, L.L. would never let C.C. see or hear anything pertaining to intercourse. Her reaction was obviously one of a virgin who has not even aware that fingers and hands were capable of more than just holding. Of course that didn't stop her from overhearing the conversations some of the girls had in the locker room, she simply didn't understand what most of them meant.

C.C. continued to ran, not even stopping when her shoulder hit something warm and muscular or hearing someone shout her name.

It wasn't until a hand grabbed onto her shoulder when she turned around and looked at the person she had ran into. Suzaku's warm green eyes stared back at her with concern.

"C.C., what's wrong? Are you hurt? Did someone do something to you?"

As the tan boy looked around them, C.C. didn't stop herself from throwing herself into his arms tears running freely down her cheeks. She was confused and scared and felt like she had done something bad.

"Suzaku? What are you—C.C.!"

C.C. turned her head slightly enough to the right and found her vision covered with the sight of L.L. checking her over.

It took a few minutes of being fussed over before she whispered "student council room." By then L.L. had an idea of why her pale face was red like a tomato and her body shaking slightly.

Too pissed off to think straight, L.L. began to walk towards the Student Council room.

"Suzaku!"

At the sound of his name, the brunette jumped slightly. "Y-yes?"

"Take C.C. to the Dining room. I will be there shortly."

Suzaku wrapped his arm around C.C.'s shoulders and began to gently lead her towards there cooling food. "Where are you going?"

"I'm just gonna grab C.C.'s things and see if my suspicions are correct."

"Oh…okay then. Be careful?"

"Of course Suzaku. Always am."

Suzaku smiled gently as he watched C.C. run into another boutique.

After the…incident last night, they had decided that, in order to get her mind off "impure thoughts we should take her shopping." (L.L.'s words, not his).

They had gone to the nearest mall right after the last bell had rung. Though the trip was supposed to be for C.C.'s benefit, Suzaku could not deny the fact that most of the bags he carried were for him. He chuckled quietly as he watched. C.C. grab what seemed like a random dark dress off the rack before disappearing into one of the changing stalls.

The moment L.L. flopped down tiredly beside him, Suzaku looked at the time on his phone, noticing that they had been at it for an hour and a half now. Enough time for L.L. to get tired. He seriously had no stamina.

Just as Suzaku opened his mouth to start a conversation, (really, before things got any more awkward between them), the sound of C.C.'s voice pierced the air.

"L.L. I need your help zipping this up!"

Suzaku couldn't help but laugh when the raven's expression fell before he got up with groan. "Coming!"

He didn't miss the quick look of longing the amethyst eyed boy threw him before disappearing into the stall C.C. was in.

"Hey, Schneizel…."

"What is it Shirley?"

Shirley shivered slightly as a chill ran down her spine at the sound of the blonde's voice.

"Well, you see… the thing is I…"

"Shirley? I'm a little busy right no—"

"I just wanted to tell you that I'm not going to make it to the meeting today!"

Shirley could practically hear the confused face the other was making. She gently bit her glossed lip before switching the phone to her other hand. The train station wasn't crowded which was a blessing in its own right.

"Why not? And why are you telling me this?"

Shirley thankfully didn't hear the snappish tone Schneizel used because of her train coming to a stop. "Well I tried calling Madame Prez and Rivalz but neither of them answered me. Also I don't have Suzaku, L.L., or C.C.'s phone numbers."

Shirley stepped on the train, trying to ignore the fact that her dress rode up her legs slightly or that there was a perverted looking old man behind her.

"Alright then, I'll pass your message along."

"Thanks Schneizel, you're the best!"

As she sat down, the green eyed girl nearly choked on her own spit when she realized what she said. She was glad when she heard Schneizel chuckle.

"Good bye Shirley, have a good day."

Before she could return the statement, Schneizel hung up on her. She stared at her phone for moment before shrugging. He did say he was busy.

L.L. quickly tried to stifle his laughter before he answered his phone but some still found their way into the receiver. "H-hello?" A snicker found its way in.

"L.L.?"

"Schnei—"a snort. "Schneizel? Hi. Why're you calling?"

Before he could answer, L.L. let out another round of raucous laughter when Suzaku stuck a fork in a position it was not supposed to be in. He barely caught on that the blonde was asking him if he was feeling alright.

"Y-yeah, I'm alright. So why'd you call?"

L.L. quickly turned his chair around so he wouldn't be able to continue watching Suzaku make a fool of himself in the middle of the food court. He felt slightly disappointed in himself when he heard C.C. practically choke on her drink.

"I just wanted to ask you if you could tell Milly that Shirley and I won't be able to make it to the meeting later today. Something came up with Shirley and I had to check something at the bank."

L.L. turned back to face Suzaku and C.C., a smile worming its way onto his face. "Yeah, sure, I'll make sure to tell Milly," he said, not really paying attention.

"Thank you, L.L."

The way the blonde said his name caused L.L. to turn his attention back to their conversation. "Hey are you okay Schneizel?"

"Yes why?"

The pale skinned boy took a quick drink from his water bottle before answering. "It's just…the way you…said my name…" L.L.'s expression twisted slightly as he tried to come up with what exactly was different.

"What? Like I truly appreciate you? I thought that is how I always spoke your name."

L.L. found a blush burning its way onto his face before taking another swig. "Shut up. Whatever. I'll tell Milly! Goodbye!"

Before the blonde could say anything else, L.L. hung up.

"Who was that?"

L.L. quickly looked up from his phone and saw Suzaku staring back at him with curiosity and mild amusement. The raven immediately smiled before putting his phone back into his pocket.

"Oh just Schneizel telling me that he and Shirley won't be at student council meeting later today."

Suzaku nodded, eyes unfocused as he thought about something. Seeing this as an opportunity, L.L. took a bit out of the pizza that he had been sharing with Suzaku, not really noticing the tomato sauce that decided to stick around at the corner of his lip. As he continued to chew, the brunette beside him snapped out of his musings before his eyes zeroed in on piece of sauce that marred the raven's pale face.

"Hey L.L….you got a little something," Suzaku said in a whispery tone, his focus completely on that little piece.

L.L. looked at Suzaku in surprise as the brunette leaned in, intent on getting rid of the blemish that could have been done away with using the napkin right beside the pizza. L.L. continued to look into Suzaku's eyes while Suzaku only focused on the sauce that was about to meet its doom.

The first swipe only caused it to smear and Suzaku's eyebrows to furrow. The Honorary Britannian took a moment to quickly lick his thumb once more before attacking the smear with another, firmer swipe. By the third swipe, the two teenagers were a good two inches away.

Once the evil tomato sauce had been done away with, Suzaku noticed just how close they had gotten. Strangely enough, neither male had felt the need to panic. Their closeness instead felt comfortable. After a few moments of breathing in each other's air, Suzaku began to pull away; pulling a smile onto his face so things wouldn't feel so awkward and in the hopes that L.L. wouldn't notice the blush burning away at his tan skin, demanding to be noticed.

He was quickly shocked to find, L.L.'s hand whip its way to the back of his head and bring their heads closer together.

Neither could tell whether it happened all too fast or all too slow. Simply that the next thing he knew was that their lips were being gently pressed together.

There was no tongue, nor was it fast paced. But the gentle fire was there as well as all the stars and fireworks and the butterflies.

Warmth spread throughout both males but neither would truly admit to it just yet.

After what seemed to be hours for the two, they slowly moved away from the other.

Both males stared into the other's eyes, speechless to what just occurred. Sometime during their kiss, Suzaku's hands had found their way to L.L.'s waist while L.L. had a hand in the brunette's hair and the other on his chest.

They stayed that way until they heard C.C.'s voice coming towards them, another pizza in hand.

Schneizel stared down and smirked lightly at Taizo Kirihara. The old man's face was of shock, surprise, and slight fear.

"I-It's you…"

"It's been a while hasn't it? Lord Kirihara."

Schneizel let an honest smile slide in place as he recalled fond memories of his time with the Sumeragis, how Kirihara had stood there waiting for his arrival along with the head of the Sumeragi clan and his daughter.

"So it really is you…I thought you had died during the invasion…" Kirihara noticeably tightened his hold on his wooden staff, knuckles whitening as his hold strengthened. "I remember the time you had stayed with us as a hostage…." The older man let out a shaky sigh. "I had often found myself wondering what would have happened to you had you not disappeared."

Though the darkness of their surroundings made it hard to see, Schneizel made sure to angle his body away from Kallen, the White Knights, and the bald man's bodyguards. He could hear Ohgi trying to calm a yelling Tamaki in the background.

Schneizel shrugged at the older man's words. "It is in the past, there is nothing we can do to change it. Though," Schneizel bowed deeply to the man sitting before him, "I would like to formally say thank you, for taking care of me all those years ago."

Kirihara's surprised expression returned before hardening. "If the person you had met with wasn't me, would you have held him hostage?"

The blonde vigilante immediately expressed his indignation though in facial expression only. "Of course not," he said calmly before bringing out his signature smirk that could make L.L. infuriated with him. "I would only find a different way to get my way."

The older man's eyes widened comically before he could no longer hold back the laughter that had been sitting in his chest. "Ohgi!" he yelled after a majority of his mirth died away.

Said man nearly jumped at the sound of his name. "Y-yes sir?"

"You must do well to keep Infinite's identity hidden. He is truly a dangerous enemy of Britannia. Follow his lead and you will have all the power the Six Houses of Kyoto has."

Schneizel's smirk widened before he turned away, barely acknowledging Ohgi's stuttered 'thank you'. "I am thankful for your assistance, Lord Kirihara."

"Are you going down the path of carnage…Infinite?"

Schneizel looked over his shoulder, bringing up his mask to somewhat hide his face from the White Knights.

"If that is my destiny."

Taizo Kirihara smirked deviously. "Even if it means hurting those closest to you?"

Though Schneizel's aura remained smug, he internally bristled at the old man's almost prophetic words. "Even if it means tearing their world at the seams…because the end result will be worth it."

Villetta Nu looked curiously at the picture of a blonde male that fell out of the girl's phone, already knowing that whoever was in the body bag was a relative. As she stared at the picture, a memory licked at the edges of her mind.

he is way too cute to be dating a girl like Ms. Fenette.

The Student Council sat in their respective seats, speaking amongst themselves as they worked. Suzaku, L.L., and C.C. all sat near the middle of the long table; far away from Nina yet nowhere near close to That Spot. Milly was teasing both Rivalz and Nina though the sexually frustrated girl did not listen to her most of the time.

Schneizel, who had barely arrived after finding out he actually had extra time after visiting the representative from Kyoto, sat in an empty seat next to C.C. since the spot next to L.L. was taken by Suzaku and a book bag. He did not especially like the looks L.L. and Suzaku threw at each other. The "subtle" blushes they both seemed to share or the "accidental" touches that occurred for the oddest of reason.

He especially knew that L.L. was not clumsy enough to drop his pencil fives ties in a row. And what's this about going shopping? Now he knew for a fact that something happened. L.L. was as red as a tomato. Just as he was about to ask the sound of lightning and thunder interrupted him and caused a majority of the students to jump lightly. The storm had appeared out of nowhere and seemed like an ominous premonition for anyone that looked deeply.

Everyone jumped once more at the sound of the door sliding open with a hiss.

"Shirley! What are you doing here? I thought you wouldn't make it! And…why are you wet?" Milly asked, jumping up from her seat.

"I'll grab a towel while you," C.C. said as she stood up before stopping and staring hard at the green eyed girl. "What's wrong with you?"

Shirley stayed silent before speaking. "Hey…Schneizel…"

Schneizel continued to stare at Shirley, puzzled by her appearance and rather quiet voice just like the rest of them. "Yes?" He was rather surprised at being singled out by her.

"Infinite…he fights for the weak right?"

Schneizel stood up as well barely noticing that the others followed his lead. "Y-yeah. Well, at least that is what he says…"

Everyone slowly but surely found their way closer to Shirley whose face was now in their view. The tears in her eyes surprised them but the amount of pain in those green orbs was what chocked them.

"Then…why did he kill…my father…?"

For a moment, no one seemed to breathe. They could only stare at the crying girl.

"He wasn't mean…and he never hurt me…so why? Why did he have to be buried alive? Why did he—?"

She fainted before she could finish. Schneizel, the closest one to her, quickly caught her, holding her to his chest.

"Shirley!?"

"Oh my god…"

"Grab some warm towels!"

"Here, I'll go with you."

Schneizel quickly sat down on the couch that was inside the room, holding his limp friend to him as the rest of his friends continued to run around him, grabbing things and shouting orders. Kirihara's words whispered to him but his own words shouted at him. He quickly found his eyes drawn to L.L.'s figure which ran around in search of a bottle of water.

The funeral held for Mr. Fenette was silent and gloomy. The air seemed charged with electricity yet no rain appeared.

C.C. was pressed against L.L. who was pressed against Suzaku who merely looked like he couldn't tell whether to be angry at Infinite or saddened for his friend.

Schneizel couldn't find it in his heart to be irrationally angry at Suzaku, only regretful that he couldn't be the one to hold L.L. during such trying times. Instead, he turned his head towards Shirley who stood next to her crying mother, her own shoulders held stiffly.

The blonde had been slightly surprised to see Kallen at the funeral. Unlike Suzaku, her face seemed to exude a resolution with the slightest hint of guilt.

After the sermon was over, people went up to the remaining Fenette's, offering their condolences. Those from the student council were one of the last to go. Milly was one of the first, immediately grabbing onto Shirley's shoulders and telling her that she needed to let it all out.

Shirley had been quite surprised when C.C. gave her a hug and L.L. patted her on her shoulder, both saying so much more with their eyes than seemed physically possible.

Strangely enough, Nina wasn't there.

Suzaku's angry face said everything he wanted to say, so when he opened his mouth to voice his thoughts on the matter of Infinite and the White Knights, L.L. merely touched his shoulder before shaking his head. Suzaku stayed staring at the raven haired male before turning back to Shirley with a much softer and sorrowful expression.

"I'm sorry, Shirley. If there was something I could have done…please know that I would have…"

Shirley smiled a smile that was noticeably fake. "It's okay, Suzaku. I know you would have."

A few days had passed after Mr. Fenette's funeral. Though everyone in the Student Council felt the heaviness in the air, life continued to move on.

After the much too early dinner shared by the Kururugis was finished, Suzaku immediately headed to the room he shared with L.L. and C.C. whenever he was able to stay the night. Even as he opened the closet, he still felt surprised that L.L. had managed to convince him to leave some spare clothes in the club house.

"Going so soon?"

Suzaku, though he heard L.L. coming up to the room, still felt slightly surprised at the sound of L.L.'s voice. "Y-yeah, Ms. Cecile had called me a bit earlier and said that my presence was needed at the base. She ended up hearing that we were about to have dinner though, so she told me that she'd cover for me while I ate dinner with you guys."

L.L. pushed off the wall he had been leaning against. Ask he was walking up to the brunette, Suzaku had been struggling to pull on his god-awful orange uniform while tying the tie that came with it. He was immediately save from choking himself to death when L.L. reached out and began to untie the ugly knot with a small chuckle.

"I'm surprised you managed to survive so long without me."

"So am I…."Suzaku said breathlessly, kind of hoping that L.L. didn't hear that not taking in to account of their proximity. Yet the blush now adorning the raven's face told him otherwise. They continued to fix the uniform in silence, the only sound being their occasional sighs and the rustle of rough fabric.

"There…finished." L.L. patted and smoothed down the tie more times than was needed as Suzaku continued to stand there, his arms uselessly still at his sides.

"Hey, L.L…"

"Hm?" L.L. replied, not looking up from his staring contest with the tie.

"What…what exactly are we now…?"

At this, L.L. looked up before smiling. A blush, though less passionate than the ones before it, appeared before he leaned up slightly to place a peck on his lips. He put one pale hand to Suzaku's tan cheek and kept their faces close.

"I think…we should figure that once you get back…alright? Cause right now you're late." Suzaku stared at L.L. in breathless amazement and love as the raven danced timidly out of his reach and towards the door. "You shouldn't keep Ms. Cecile waiting! She can only cover you for so long!"

With wide eyes and a quiet curse, Suzaku grabbed his suitcase and shoes before dashing after L.L. who was practically prancing down the halls, too happy to notice that L.L. was prancing.

This story has 45 reviews (the highest I've ever gotten) and 4,797 views. Not even Omega's Love has that much. I had actually predicted that Omega's Love would be the top dog in my little collection but I'm kinda glad you all proved me wrong. So thank you for loving my baby everyone!

Anyways the important news. For reasons that I will or will not state on my profile page, I have decided to retire from writing fan fiction on the 1st of February 2017. That will leave me with two years to start and finish any fan fiction stories that I wish to begin and continue. Every story that I post will show how many days left. On the final day I shall post one final fanfic as a sorts of retirement party.

Thank you for supporting me and my bullshit hiatus by continuing to love and follow my stories and I hope I see you all till the very end.
