Note: So, so sorry for the long wait I've just been distracted and busy with stuff and life in general. This is most likely the final chapter, hopeful it turns out well. Thanks for all those who reviewed, favorite, and followed this story. Now on with the story, enjoy!

Gray bit his lip in pain and his body tensed as electricity ran through his body. Suddenly Gray's chin was jerked up and he met Akane's cruel eyes. Akane remarked "Don't try to hold it in, I want to hear you scream!" Another shocked ran through Gray's body, he grit his teeth to keep from screaming. Akane slapped him hard across the face making Gray gasp in pain. Akane was about to move to hit Gray again when he was body checked from the side by a ice-tiger ramming into him. Akane stood up and glared as Lyon stepped in front of Gray, body glowing with ice magic, glaring at Akane. The room grew icy as Lyon's anger grew, he growled "I'll kill you for what you've done to my little brother!"

Akane smirked "You really think you can do anything against me? That's hilarious!" Lyon didn't bother replying instead he sent some ice eagles towards Akane. Akane quickly dodged the attack. Lyon was about to attack again when he was distracted by a painful groan from Gray. Lyon turned to see Gray looking worse than ever, the machine seemed to be sucking the life from him. Gray was paler than before, body tense and head lowered as electricity ran through his body. Lyon was about to move closer when he was reminded of Akane's presence as Akane spoke "If he stays connected to that machine long enough he will died and as I don't have a need for him anymore I don't mind if this fight takes forever; however if you want to save him, you'll want to end this quickly, at least within the hour, but I doubt you can."

Akane smirked, darkly, seeing the conflicted emotions in Lyon's eyes before anger took over completely. Lyon sent a snow dragon towards Akane who dodged quickly and then used his magic to send wooden spikes towards Lyon. Lyon knew he couldn't just dodge the attack as Gray was behind him, he brought his hands together quickly creating an ice ape to shield him. He then moved as the ice ape disappeared, hands glowing as he sent many ice eagles towards Akane. As Akane moved to dodge the attack Lyon moved towards Akane and hit him with an icy punch to the face. Akane was lying on the ground as Lyon sent an ice tiger to attack but Akane shot vines out and wrapped them around the tiger, stopping the attack. Akane got up quickly after that attack and pressed his glowing hands to the ground making a wave of wooden spikes come up out of the ground moving towards Lyon. Lyon jumped up and created a big ice-eagle and rode it towards Akane. Akane was caught by surprise and barely managed to move out of the way; however, Lyon saw him move and jumped toward Akane, hitting him with a sharp, icy-tiger fist. Akane was sent flying, he landed on his hands and knees, he was about to get up but noticed Lyon heading towards him. Realizing he needed a distraction and seeing that Gray was left unprotected he shot a couple of wooden spikes toward Gray's trapped form. Lyon saw the spikes, only to late to use any ice attacks, in his rage and fear Lyon acted on instinct to protect Gray and threw his body in front of the attack. One spike hit him in the shoulder and another in the leg; however, Lyon didn't seem to feel the pain as he was too pissed off at Akane attacking Gray again. Lyon moved, catching Akane off guard, and hit Akane with a barrage of ice attacks, not letting up until he was sure Akane wasn't moving. Lyon then froze Akane's prone form to the ground and walked to Akane with the intent of finishing him off for good when a groan of pain from Gray brought him back to his senses. Lyon then turned his attention to Gray running over to where Gray was trapped in that machine, on his way he pulled the spikes out, as he came closer to Gray he noticed that Gray's lip was bleeding from being bitten and his fist were clenched and body shaking in pain. His heart ached at the sight of Gray like that and he looked at the machine to try and figure out what needed to be done to stop it, the machine was so full of power that sparks were shooting from it. Lyon managed to find the way and stop it, he felt such a relief when the machine stopped and Lyon moved in front of Gray and unchained him from the machine. Right as he finished Gray looked up at him and whispered "Thank you," right before passing out in Lyon's arms.

Lyon stood there, holding Gray bride style, for a minute taking in the fact that Gray was still alive, even if injured, and safe now; though Gray's body looked like hell, beaten and bloody. Lyon felt tears in his eyes at the relief of having Gray back and the sadness of what Gray had to go through. Lyon was so distracted in his thoughts that he didn't notice Akane getting up, having broken the ice that held him. Akane was about to attack when out of nowhere a fiery punch hit him and sent him flying into a far off wall, knocking him out cold. Lyon turned at the noise and saw Natsu, Lucy, and Happy standing where Akane had been and Akane some distance away. Natsu, Lucy, and Happy took in Gray's injured body in Lyon's arms and Lyon with tears in his eyes, then Lucy spoke up asking in a shaky voice "Is Gray...?"

Lyon, realizing she was having trouble finishing, spoke up "Gray's still alive but we need to get him help quickly."

Natsu, letting out a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding, said "Of course, Gray wouldn't be killed like that. Now let's go, there is a doctor in this area, follow me."

With that, they got Gray to a doctor and waited until Gray healed up enough to go back to Fairy Tail; Lyon came with them, with the reason that he didn't trust the others to keep Gray safe on the trip back, though mostly he was just worried. When they finally got back to Magnolia and were coming up to the guild night was already falling. Natsu, Lucy and Happy made sure Gray was okay before they went on into the guild. Gray had already decided he was just going to go to his apartment because he was still pretty tired and did not want to deal with everyone just yet. Gray invited Lyon to stay the night so that he didn't have to travel back at this time. As they were walking to Gray's apartment, on the mostly empty streets, Gray broke the silence "I believe I thanked you before but still I wanted to thank you again, you didn't have to help me but you did."

Lyon, surprised, replied "Well it was part of a job I was on but I would have helped even if it wasn't. You're my younger brother, why wouldn't I have helped?"

"I didn't think you thought of me as family, I mean I know we worked out the thing about Ur but I didn't think you had still wanted much to do with me."

"Really? I put that behind me, plus I was also in the wrong back then, I really shouldn't have blamed you. I always thought of you as a younger brother even when I was mad at you. Do you not think of me as your brother?"

"No, I do just didn't think you would like it or consider me your brother."

They continued walking on for a few moments in silence until Lyon spoke up, avoiding looking at Gray, "Well just so you know when you went missing and I found out I got more worried than I had been in a while and when I saw that Akane guy hurt you I wanted to twicefold the pain him and protect you because you're important to me, you're my brother."

Gray stared at Lyon, who was still avoiding his eyes, in shock and slight delight in hearing that. Gray remembered the injuries Lyon received when he took an attack for Gray and Gray knew that Lyon would go through many lengths to protect him just as Gray would do for Lyon. As they reached the apartment, Gray, while looking at the ground, shyly, voiced "You're important to me too, big brother."

Lyon looked over at Gray in delighted surprise. Gray then look toward Lyon with a mischievous smile that Lyon noticed right before Gray ran into the apartment and Lyon heard the lock on the door click. It took Lyon a moment to realize he had been lockout, "Gray, you brat! Don't make me bust it down, I will!"

Gray would let Lyon in the apartment in a bit, he knew, just as Lyon knew right now he was just annoying his brother.
