Chapter 7 - The Love Triangle

"Well well well," Bill spoke to Dipper, "It looks as if we've got ourselves a bit of a love triangle here, don't we? Ha! Get it? Because I'm a triangle. Of course you get it. You're a smart kid, but not as smart as you think."

"Bill!" Dipper shouted, already having lost it, "What's the deal, man? Couldn't you have picked a better time?!"

"Oh, no, Pine Tree," he responds, mockingly, "What better time than now? They say the present is a gift, you know. Anyways, I was just stopping by to tell you you've got like, 10 hours left, kid. A darkness is coming. Soon."

"That's what McGucket said, dang it! Why didn't I listen?" Dipper seemed infuriated at himself.

Pacifica, seeing the demon, is frightened out of her wits, as though she's made a realization. Eyes unblinking, she mumbles inaudibly to herself.

"Oh no, it can't be. Not you. Not now. The stories... I never believed... My family... No..."

Bill spoke again, still addressing Dipper, "You're playin' with fire again, kid! And now you're gettin' with her?! Geez, you really don't know where to stop, do you?"

"I... What're you talking about?"

"Look, I figured I'd give you a fair warning. As you know, I've been watching you for a while now. I've seen things. Lots of things." Pacifica mouths these last words as Bill says them, recognizing them from somewhere.

"The end is nigh, kid. You'll be sorry soon."

Pacifica, lying on her back, tries to back away, but Bill quickly turns around and addresses her.

"And you, little lady! Pacifica, is it? Yeah, I've got something special up my sleeve for you and your kind. Come 10 hours or so and you'll see. You'll all see. And as always... I'll be watching you!"

He fades into oblivion as he says these last words, and time resumes. Dipper watches Pacifica from a distance of a few yards, and tries to get her from leaving. She seems terrified, looking back and forth nervously.

"Pacifica, wait!" Dipper calls for her, but he's too late.

"I'm sorry, Dipper... I'm so sorry," she says to him nearly inaudibly, with a tear running down her cheek, and promptly runs away into the distance.

Dipper drops to his knees and begins to weep.
