CHAPTER 3

"Wow, big bro," Isabel piped up. "I never knew you had a twin brother in the Survey Corps."

"Are you an idiot." came two different calls from two different Levi.

Isabel raised her eyebrows at that while their Levi glared down at the other.

"What the hell is going on? Levi?" Farlan anxiously asked the still mounted Levi. He was perched on his horse, his shoulders tense as if he was preparing to attack.

"I have no idea." Levi muttered.

Flagon and Sayram trotted towards them.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Flagon exploded, glaring at all of them. "The formation is in shambles thanks to you! We're left vulnerable out in the open!"

He gritted his teeth, glancing suspiciously at the group of strangers who appeared from the forest. He turned to Sayram to issue an order.

"Call Erwin and Commander Shadis back here. I think we have a situation they'd want to see."

"Yes, sir." the dark haired cadet saluted before bolting off to the center formation. Flagon turned back to the perched Levi.

"Levi, explain yourself." he demanded.

"That'll be convenient if I knew what the fuck was going on." Levi told him scathingly, turning to him to give him a bland look. Flagon looked like he was going to pop a vein. Levi turned his head back to the strangers. "And who the hell are you supposed to be?"

"Who do you think?" retaliated the other Levi.

"A bunch of brats traveling with a deep shit that looks like me." answered the perched Levi.

"Wow, he even talks like the captain." Connie murmured.

"I know and I thought one captain was bad enough." Sasha answered.

Jean and Eren both shot them exasperated and scolding looks. Sasha and Connie both looked properly chided.

"We should head back to the walls." Mikasa spoke up, as she sheathed her blades.

"She's right." Armin supplied. "Staying stationary like this in an open terrain leaves us in a disadvantage if ever we need to use our 3DMGs again. Without horses, we can't outrun the titans either. I think it's best to break protocol and just head straight for the wall. The Commander can confront us in a safer location."

Flagon dragged his blades from their canisters and pointed them threateningly. Both Levi glanced at him with disinterest while the others just looked surprised.

"You people aren't going anywhere near the walls. Not until we figure out who the hell you are." he retorted.

"They have a point." Levi said, gesturing to his fellow black clad squad. "You can't figure out who we are or why we're here if we turn up dead and being out here like this, that's more likely to happen."

"Captain, do you even know why this is all happening?" Armin asked him. Levi gave him a long look before answering.

"I think I may have an idea or two."

"Like what?" Eren asked.

The sound of hooves fast approaching cut him off and they watched as Commander Shadis and Captain Erwin Smith with their entire brigade rode at full speed toward them.

Levi waited for them to be close enough to hear. Judging from Erwin's astonished expression, he wasn't expecting whatever he was seeing.

"Erwin," Levi addressed him. "It's good to see you with all your limbs intact."
