Chapter 12 – DATE

Kuroko and Yuri were at the bus stop at the moment, waiting for a certain vehicle that will bring them to wherever Kuroko planned to go. Yuri gave up on asking him as to where their itinerary was because this guy never budged. It was either he didn't answer or he altered the topic. It was quite tiring to squeeze out any information from this phantom.

"Ne, Tetsu-chan-"

"You know, Nigou climbed a stack of chairs yesterday."

"- if you won't tell me where we are going, then that would be considered as kidnapping, right?"

"But then, you came with me at your will."

"Hmm, makes sense.

Yuri was about to spit out nonsense when a honk was heard. A bus has arrived.

The duo boarded the bus in silence. Yuri made her way to an empty seat. As she was finally seated, she noticed Kuroko was still talking to the bus driver.

What was he doing there…? AH CRAP!

Yuri stared outside the window in irritation. That was so stupid of me.

Passing by colorful streets and lively scenes, Yuri momentarily forgotten whet was she vexed at the moment ago. She didn't know how Kuroko made his way to their seat, and even felt she was the only one in the bus.

Truth to be told, it was her first time to ride a bus. Being a member of an elite family, all she was used to was limousines, private planes, helicopters…

Her train of thoughts were interrupted as Kuroko sat beside her, rummaging in his bag for something she couldn't care less. Yuri was planning to go back in her daydreaming when Kuroko called her attention.

"Ne, Yuri-chan…" Kuroko looked at her, with a tint of pink evident from his cheeks.

"Eh? What is it?" Yuri stared back, completely unaware of what's going on.

"A-anou… " Kuroko shoved the Hello Kitty plushie towards her. "For you…"

Yuri inwardly gasped as she took hold of the small gift, and a smile crept onto her blood-tinted face.

"A-arigatou, Tetsu-chan."

Kuroko, nonetheless, returned a beaming smile.

Yuri swore she saw flowers blooming in the background and in addition of sparkly effects.

(~)

Yuri whined for the umpteenth time.

"Nee, Tetsu-chaaaan~! Are we there yeeeet?! Uhhhh."

Kuroko chuckled.

"Mm. We still have to travel for an hour, I assume."

Yuri jolted from her seat. "AN HOUR?! I DON'T THINK I CAN SURVIVE FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE OF SITTING TETSU-CHAAAAN!"

"Just wait, Yuri-chan. Being impatient won't do you any good."

Yuri sighed in defeat. She just stared outside, and for Kami's sake, they were already passing by rice fields at the moment, and to think there's still an hour of travelling. Mou, Tetsu-chan, you aren't planning to take me to the mountains, ne?

Rice field here… Rice field there… Rice field everywhere… Looking at the same scenery over and over again make's one bored, and Yuri was not an exception. The surroundings they were passing by at the moment was the complete opposite of what she saw the moment she sat on the bus.

And of course, repetition is equal to boredom, and boredom is equal to sleep.

Yuri never realized she leaned onto Kuroko's shoulder and dozed off.

Kuroko was typing a message for who-knows-who when he felt a weight on his shoulders. When he looked at his left side, he saw a princess dozing off.

Even for the first time Kuroko met Yuri, he always looked at her as she was not an ordinary girl. Not the typical one, who applies a bounty amount of make-up, wears short skirts and squeals over topless boys. She was different. She was special. Yuri was like, royalty, a fragile princess who needs to be taken care of.

That was also the time he felt like a prince.

As the girls of the class would say, Kuroko was gentle, soft-spoken, fit to be a prince. Truly the ideal boy every girl would dream of.

And Yuri was the ideal girl every boy could dream of.

Some would call her Mary Sue, but it was the truth, to Kuroko.

Even though she sucked at sewing a patch, or hitting a baseball, to him she was perfect.

Even though she sometimes bickered with Kagami and ate like there's no tomorrow, to him she was a princess.

Kuroko wasn't really sure. But when it came to his fast-paced heartbeat when Yuri smiles and the urge to comfort her when she fails to do a simple task, some people call it love.

Kuroko wasn't sure. Who cares…

Yuri stirred from her slumber. She felt dizzy and the place she was in was not familiar with. She sat up, surprised to see that she was inside a cottage overlooking the shore.

"Ohayou, Yuri-chan."

"Kyah! Ah! Tetsu-chan! That was quite a surprise!" Seriously, she never got used to his small presence and all…

"It's already time for lunch, Yuri-chan." Kuroko said as he laid eating utensils on the table at the center of their cottage.

"What's for lunch?" Yuri opened the box which contained their food in a flabbergasted manner. It held various foods apt for lunch. A bento it is. "Seriously Tetsu-chan~! This is awesome!"

"Thank you."

Yuri stared at him suspiciously.

"But then, how did you manage to make this? Knowing that you could barely cook and all…"

"That's quite harsh, Yuri-chan. My grandmother helped me to make this."

"Is that so? I'm starving, let's eat!"

They said in chorus,"Itadakimasu!"

(~)

The two ate in silence, consuming the food that was laid before them. Surely, a two-hour ride would tire anyone and drain their energy. They took their time to eat and it was already an hour and a half after noon. The sun shone over the beach, and Yuri was damn tempted to swim.

But she can't.

Well blame Kuroko. He never told her that they were going to the beach.

Yuri ate, deep in thought when she heard Kuroko say, "You look beautiful as always, Yuri-chan."

Unfortunately, she was swallowing her food that time, and you all know what happened. It's too mainstream to mention it anymore. Haha.

Unbeknownst to the duo, a pair of men in black –well, the other one was a woman- was following them. One of them happened to be Kanda Reiyuu, who was having a severe case of sister complex at the moment. The woman, who happened to be Erinn Crisostomo, was having a hard time dealing with this jerk.

"YAH! KANDA REIYUU! PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!" Erinn raged, although not evident to the wailing man she was with.

"B-BUT MY IMOUTO! SHE'S GOING TO HAVE HER INNOCENCE TAKEN AWAY FROM HEEEEERRRR!"

"INNOCENCE MY ASS! SHE'S NOT EVEN INNOCENT ANYMORE!"

Rei stared at Erinn with amused eyes.

"What. Do. You. Mean."

"Uh, you're hopeless my dear fiancée. Let's go back to Tokyo and have a date of our own."

"NOOOOOO! MY IMOUTOOOOO! YURIIIIIIII!"

Erinn might as well as drag Rei all the way to Tokyo.

The two walked on the seashore on that afternoon, looking at the beautiful scenery before them. They played on the sand, collected seashells and took their time choosing a souvenir from all those wonderful choices. And also, pictures were not exceptions. There were decent shots of the two playing and throwing sand at each other, while the rest were stolen pictures of Kuroko Tetsuya. It was then when she realized she was sort of a stalker.

They continued to stroll around when they spotted an ice cream stall. They looked at each other at the same time, they smiled at each other and walked toward the stall.

"Two vanilla ice cream please, obaa-chan."

"WAAH! WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?! Err, nevermind. Ah! Two vanilla ice creams?"

"Hai."

Kuroko looked at Yuri, who nodded in approval

Vanilla was their favorite flavor after all.

They sat on a nearby bench while eating their newly bought ice creams. No one talked, for the two were so engrossed with that vanilla flavored treat.

Then out of the blue, Kuroko blurted out, "Do you want to swim, Yuri-chan?"

Yuri looked at him, confusion all over her face. "How? I don't have any spare clothes right now. If you only told me at least we're going to the beach…"

"Don't worry, Yuri-chan. I bought swimming attires for us both?"

Yuri stared at him. "Seriously?"

"Hai. My mother bought a swimsuit once but it didn't fit her, so she told me to give it to the girl I took on my first date, so…"

Their cheeks were both tinted pink.

"So, let's go?"

After Yuri changed into her suit, she went back to their cottage to leave her belongings and to look for Kuroko. He was not around, but Yuri saw a sticky note on the table.

Yuri-chan, go to the bench where we stayed earlier. I'll be waiting.

-Tetsu-chan

With her face feeling hot, she made her way to where Kuroko should be.

Yuri was still far from the bench, but she could already see Kuroko, clad with nothing but shorts (gosh he's topless lol), with his hands on top of his head, forming a heart shape. She walked toward him faster, and to her surprise she saw writings on the sand:

I LOVE YOU KANDA YURI!

Can you be my girl?

~Tetsu-chan

Yuri ran to Kuroko, using all her might to shout, "YES!"

The couple sat on the beach, hand in hand while watching the sunset together. Both of them were still flustered of what happened earlier, but nevertheless, they were happy at each other's company.

"I love you too, Tetsu-chan…" Kuroko turned to his side, seeing a lovely princess leaning on his shoulder, sweetly smiling at him.

Kuroko held her hand tighter, and they watched the sun fall into the horizon.
