Chapter 14 - Farewell? Nah.
"We're migrating to South Korea next week." Yuri's eyes widened at her father's words, her mind not accepting the statement she just perceived.
Astounded as she was, the only word she managed to say was, "Why?"
"It is due to our business, Yuri. And it's a great thing since your sister stays there."
Yuri debated with herself about how would she respond to her father. She didn't want to leave. After all the joy she felt, why would be taken away from her in a blink of an eye?
"Can you just leave me here?"
A pause.
"What are you saying, Kanda Yuri? We can't leave you alone!"
"I can manage, father. I don't want to leave. I can live by myself, father. Just like now."
"Why? Is there something preventing you from leaving? Is it a boy? I told you not to get involved with any lad. They are no good."
"Father, he is different. He can take care of me."
"Then I should see it for myself, Yuri."
And with that, Yuri's father ended the call.
It was Saturday the next day and by lunch break, the coach announced a very important matter to the team.
"So let me get this straight. Because we took the champioship at the Winter Cup, the school administration decided to give us an award."
Comments, yells and howls were heard throughout the gym.
"Since one of the stock holders of the school owns a vacation house, he were invited to come over."
"So when will it take place?" Kagami asked in curiosity.
"It will be next week." Coach stated as a matter-of-factly.
Yuri felt cold sweat trickling down her temples. Her departure would be next week though she was not sure if she could convince her father to let her stay.
Kuroko, being the observant one, noticed his girlfriend's uneasiness. Worry painted his calm face. He hurriedly went to were she stood.
"Is there something wrong, Yuri-chan?"
All heads turned to their manager.
Yuri shook her head. "Nothing... I'm fine."
Even with her response, Kuroko was still perturbed.
Something's off...

As the team went out to train in the Aida's Sports Gym, Yuri was left in the school's basketball gymnasium with the task of cleaning up. As she picked up scattered basketballs, one slipped from her grasp. As she tried to pick it up, a large hand appeared and grabbed the stray ball she could.
"Kiyoshi-senpai?"
"Yo, imouto!"
Becausr the Winter Cup was the last tournament Kiyoshi can participate in, he was now prohibited to play the sport in preparation for his surgery. But then, he still showed up during practices and cheered for everyone.
Yuri walked to the cart where the basketballs were kept and placed the remaining balls inside. Kiyoshi did the same.
"You didn't go with them, Kiyoshi-senpai?"
"It felt bad, leaving our imouto behind. Besides, I don't need to train anymore." The Iron Heart looked down, but immediately looked at Yuri with a pure smile plastered on his face.
"It's going to be fine, senpai. We'll play basketball again in the future. We'll still meet up even when we have our own families, and have fun!"
Yuri smiled with small pools in the corner of her eyes.
Kiyoshi patted Yuri's head.
"Of course, Yuri-chan." Kiyoshi's face suddenly became serious.. "You seemed uneasy earlier, care to share?"
Yuri stared at a distance before breathing a sigh.
"Welll, you see senpai... Next week..."
Kiyoshi stared at her with a gaze so similar to a worried older brother. (see: Kanda Reiyuu; might be overexaggerated)
"My father said we will migrate yto South Korea next week."
Kiyoshi's eyes widened in shock.
"I don't want to leave, senpai." Yuri hugged him, burying her face into his chest. Kiyoshi was sure she was crying.
"I do not know how to tell the others, especially him."
Kiyoshi patted her head repeatedly in hopes to comfort her.
"It will be okay, Yuri-chan."
"I'm afraid if I leave, he'll forget about me... That he'll love someone else."
"Kuroko is not that kind of person. If your really love each other then you would be able to get through this."

Yuri and Kuroko was now at the manager's apartment. The couple was seated on the sofa while cuddling each other; the television was active but was not paid any attention.
Kuroko kept giving Yuri small kisses on her face every now and then. She wouldn't tell him what her problem was but that wouldn't stop him from comforting her.
"Ne, Tesu-chan, what would you do if I leave?"
Kuroko stared at her and blinked a few times and diverting his attention to the television.
"I would be sad, of course, but I will wait for Yuri-chan to come back. I know Yuri-chan will because she loves me."
Yuri blushed at his blunt confession.
The she gave out a long deep sigh.
"Was that the matter bothering you?"
Kuroko wrapped his arms around Yuri, snuggling her close to him.
"To be honest, yes. Due to our family business, we need to move every now and then, though I pleaded my father to let me stay here. I told him that you are here for me."
It was Kuroko's turn to flush.
Silence.
Then suddenly, there was an impatient knock on the front door.
Yuri broke free from Kuroko's hug and went to open the front door.
To her surprise, it was her father.
"Good evening father. Whay brings you here?"
"I told you, I am going to see for myself."
And with that he entered the apartment. Upon seeing the boy seated on the couch, the boy immediately stood up and bowed.
"Good evening. I am Kuroko Tetsuya."
The man nodded and Kuroko stood straight again.
"I am Kanda Yuu, Yuri's father. I suppose you are my daughter's..." The man looked at him from head to toe."...boyfriend?"
"Yes, I am, Kanda-san."
(KyleMea note: Okay okay okay -Man brought me to anime world *wink* ifyouknowwhatimean)
Yuri walked in, breaking the tension beforeit even accumulated.
"Ne, Papa, have you already eaten dinner? Or perhaps you want tea?"
"I already ate dinner at the airport. Tea then."
"Coming up!" Yuri dashed to the kitchen.
The moment Yuri was out of sight, the two men sat down on the obsidian couches, facing each other.
Mr. Kanda cleared his throat."Let me get this straight, what is your reason for having a realtionship with my daughter?"
"The only reason is I love Yuri-chan, Kanda-san." Kuroko answered with his usual dead pan expression.
Mr. Kanda chuckled. "What a polite boy we have here, huh? Is it just for a show or is it real?" (KyleMea note: Is it real? Is it real?)
"I believe it is my natural way of speaking, Kanda-san."
The elder man smiled. Surely, his daughter has proper tastes with boys, as expected from their bloodline. Hah. You know where it came from. It'sin the genes.(xD)
"I approve of your relationship with my daughter, however, I must take measures to ensute the safety of my daughter."
"What do you mean, Kanda-san?"
"As candidate for inheritance for a large business owned by our family, we cannot be unsure of people surrounding her. I think you know about her past, no? All of them came to her because of money. She never had real friends."
"I understand that, Kanda-san. But what exactly is your point?"
Mr. Kanda felt a tick mark form on his forehead. Seriously, this boy never changed his expression from the beginning and asking him what his point was with that blank face, it was surely pissing him off. He raised his black-rimmed specs.
"Are you aware of Yuri's departure next week?"
Hah! At last! The bkank boy's expression changed.
"Of course."
With that, Yuri arrived with three cups of tea.
"Sorry for the wait."
The elder man took a sip, then looked at his daughter.
"Yuri?"
"Yes?"
"As we've discussed earlier, I already approved of your relationship with Kuroko, but in exchange for that, you are going with us to South Korea."
Yuri's eyes widened as her whole being became astounded. She didn't know if she would be elated or sad.
"Everything will be fine, if you really love each other, that is."
"It will be fine, ne Yuri-chan."

As the news was brought to the team, everything passed in a blur. For Yuri, it happened so fast, because the joy was fleeting quickly.
All she remembered was the team threw a party for her, and at the present, the whole Seirin Basketball Club was at the present, to see their manager and imouto off.
Everyone was silent, dreading the announcement of Yuri's flight. They were trying their best not to break down, well except for one.
Coach Aida hugged their manager, hiccuping between soft sobs.
"Mou Yuri-chan! Who would cook for the team? Who would train them when I'm not around? Yuri-chaaaaaan!"
Yuri rubbed circles on Riko's back in hopes to comfort their wailing coach.
Then it came.
"Flight 1011 bound to Incheon Airport, South Korea, please proceed to xxx area, I repeat, flight 1011 bound to Incheon Airport, South Korea, please proceed to xxx area. ( note: I don't know what that area was called I only boarded plane once and that was eight years ago for milkshake's sake)
When tears were threatening to fall, Kiyoshi being the mood ruiner suddenly exclaimed, "Let's have a group hug!"
Hyuuga snickered, "What a great way for runing the moment!"
But they all complied.
Hyuuga cleared his throat and took a deep breath.
"YOSH MINNA! SEENO!"
"Thank you for everything, Yuri-chan! Please take care!"
Yuri, with tear stained cheeks, bowed and said, "Arigatou minna!"
As she straightened her posture, someone who smelled of vanilla hugged her.
"Please take care, Yuri-chan."
"Mm. You too, Tetsu-chan."
Kuroko stared at her.
"W-what is it?"
"I'm just memorizing your face."
Yuri pinked at the statement.
"Don't worry Tetsu-chan! We'll call each other and send e-mails! Skype too!"
Kuroko chuckled, with small pools forming at the corner of his eyes.
"Of course, Yuri-chan."
"Last call, flight 1011 bound to Incheon Airport, South Korea, please proceed to xxx area."
Kuroko's hug on Yuri tightened as he buried his now drenched-with-tears face on the crook of Yuri's neck.
Yuri ruffled his hair.
"So this is it, Tetsu-chan?"
Kuroko lifter his head and cupped her cheeks, his gaze straight to her eyes.
"I love you, Yuri-chan." Kuroko said with a bittersweet smile.
"I love you too, Tetsu-chan."
And their lips met, not giving a damn to everyone looking at
