Okay my laptop is still broken but because the last chapter made it take a massive jump of readers, kinda makes me want to write more of this.
Chapter 5: 5 years ago...
Weiss and Winter sat at the table with a scarcely year old Amethyst sitting on Weiss' lap.
Sanguine sat on the other end of the table eating his breakfast, Ruby sat next to Weiss feeding Amethyst some milk.
"So Winter mind if I ask why you are here again?" Weiss asked only slightly angry at her sister's sudden appearance on their door step. "Michael needed to deal with some students back in Vollen but we are starting a holiday here." Winter said starting to scratch Amethyst behind the ear. "Plus I can see this adorable thing more!" Winter added directed at Amethyst.
"Yes she is but if you keep scratching her ears It gets harder to feed her because she starts to purr and it already is somewhat difficult." Ruby said swatting Winter's hand away from Amethyst's ears.
"But she is soo cute. Has she said anything yet?" Winter asked, curious as to her niece's knowledge thus far. Ruby quickly took Amethyst from Weiss to make breakfast time a small bit easier. Weiss reluctantly gave up the small cat Faunus.
"No Winter she hasn't but I'm sure if you keep up making Ruby angry we may need to keep you from her." Weiss said getting up and putting a glass of orange juice next to Sanguine. "Thank you Mama." Sanguine said taking a sip from the glass. "Your welcome Honey." Weiss said ruffling his hair.
Winter glared a bit at Weiss, "You wouldn't keep them from their own Aunt... would you?" she asked Weiss. "Win if you remember Father could only see Sanguine three times a year and only if Ruby and myself was present until recently." Weiss said deadpan to her sister.
"Why actually was that? Daddy isn't that bad." Winter asked trying to fill in some form of the gaps Weiss caused with Sanguine. "Not only is he a bad role model but he has attempted to harm Ruby and has attempted to kill that man child you call a boyfriend." Weiss said wiping Amethyst's mouth from a small bit of Milk spilling out from the corner.
"But that so called man child can take care of the both of us plus he does piss Daddy off. But I can't defend him being a bad role model." Winter said to her sister, turning her attention to Sanguine. "Soo Sangie how has school been." She asked.
Sanguine finished his bite of food wiped his mouth and looked at Winter. "Auntie Winter you know I hate being called that it makes me feel like a child and it is going fine but it is a bit boring." He said earning a small giggle from the trio of women there.
"Sanguine you are still a child and maybe if you attempted to apply yourself to your work you may be able to like it." Weiss said matter-of-fact not trying to raise her voice to her children a grace her own father never gave her or Winter. "No Mama it isn't that it is just I know the stuff they are teaching. They just started to teach addition and subtraction to go along with some rather basic words." Sanguine deadpanned to his Mother.
"Well do me and your mother need to have a talk with the school?" Ruby asked Sanguine who turned to Ruby and said "Your mother and I." earning a rare laugh from Weiss who looked to Ruby. "He is right you Dolt."
"Why must both of you gang up on me..." Ruby pouted giving an all mighty puppy pout. "Dolt I have never once 'ganged' up on you. I correct your grammar and your son has taken up the habit so it is a beautiful thing." Weiss corrected her.
"Pfft who needs grammar when I can shot a Beowolf between the eyes from ninty paces." Ruby began puffing her chest out like it is a badge to be proud of. "And yet you live on an island that has little to no major Grimm, with my sister, your son and adopted daughter." Winter added causing Ruby to deflate a bit.
"Yeah but when I wanted to move to a Grimm area Princess there said..." Ruby began letting Weiss fill in the gaps to the story. "I said 'not a chance will I let my children grow up in a place they can almost die' followed by don't call me Princess." Weiss finished.
"Yeah that sounds like you." Winter said quickly picking Amethyst to hold her. "And I don't think I could forgive you if anything happens to this adorable thing." She continues to speak. Amethyst grabbed hold of Winter's hair and began to pull.
"Ahh you may be adorable but that hurts!" Winter screams as she is forced to follow with her hair. Ruby and Weiss tried really hard to stifle their laughs, but eventually broke out laughing clutching their sides. "Ahh Weiss I swear if you don't get her off I will end you." Winter spoke with such a level of calmness that would terrify most... but not Weiss.
"You'll what... Ruby already knows everything about me and Father knows about our children... if anything he would be angry at you for not having one despite you are going out with someone who makes his blood boil." Weiss said walking over to Ruby who just barely was able to control her laughing.
Sanguine who kept quite during this walked over and helped his Aunt out. "She just wants to play and it so happened your ponytail was the closest thing." Sanguine calmly said lifting his baby sister up. "How can you tell?" Winter asked slightly relived to have her hair out of the infant's hands but a bit sceptical.
"Same way I can see all of Patch and the thoughts of an infant are a whole lot easier to decipher than an adult." Sanguine said filling his aunt in. "Yeah with him it is a whole lot easier to figure out what a baby needs." Ruby said handing Amethyst a small stuffed toy, Amethyst responded by grabbing Ruby's cloak hood and pulled.
"Ahh Winter may not hurt you but leave my cloak... Please." Ruby pleaded to the infant earning an eye roll from the other people in the room. "Here Amiee leave Mom's cloak and when you get older I'll tell you where she hides her cookies." Sanguine offered and the infant gave up the cloak.
"Will she remember that... I don't think I could loose all of them from a sugar ridden child." Ruby asked weighing her option. "I don't know I'm not a psychic. I can decipher auras but I cant see the future." Sanguine said walking off with Amethyst into the spacious living room.
"By the way Uncle is almost here." Sanguine said to the group. "I'll get the couch bed ready." Ruby said standing up from the table. "Whyyy?" Winter asked unsure of the gesture.
"Every time you two are here there is a fight that threatens Sanguine's innocence and it always ends with you going on a shopping spree and him sleeping on the couch it is just nice to beat the middle man." Ruby said walking out of the room.
"It isn't every time is it?" Winter asked Weiss. "More like every minute but she is right." Weiss said taking a seat. "Well some of the shit he does is very enraging... hell last month he made a Coffee shop just attached to our house because it is a lot easier to go to then just down the road." Winter dryly said.
Ruby came down the stairs and sat next to Weiss, "Couch is set up." Ruby stated leaning over to kiss Weiss on the cheek. "Hey Mom, Amethyst wants to try something." Sanguine shouted into the room from the living room.
"What is it she wants to do? Please say it is legal and nothing dangerous." Weiss asked into the room. "Well she wants to try and speak but she wants you and Mom to be there to hear her first attempt... she says you should also give me some cookies." Sanguine said walking into the room holding Amethyst.
"Go on sweetie try it." Winter added being pushed out of the way by Weiss and Ruby. "Sorry Winter but this takes priority over you and your stupid petty feuds with the suit wearing monkey." Ruby said jumping in front of them.
"Go on sweetie say Mommy." Ruby said.
"No no say Mama." Weiss countered.
"S... San... Sangi... Sangie." Amethyst said trying hard to say her brother's name. "Ahh please don't make a habit calling me that." Sanguine said slightly annoyed at the abbreviation of his name. "Why can no one call me by my real name and not that stupid abbreviation." Sanguine said under his breath.
Author's Note:
I know it is a short chapter but I've been trying to think of adorable things for Amethyst hence the change in her age back to a baby but it works and this is probably the only turn back in time I shall do. I may revisit this chapter later but this will do for now. Till next time,
