Chapter 4: The Fight Continues

Sakura Haruno had learned much about Naruto ever since she got put with him. She learned under that happy go-luck attitude and crazy energy, he was actually smart. Err, not book smart. More like battle smart. There was a reason he was called the #1 Unpredictable Ninja.

When they had gone through the Forest of Death, she had really seen changes in him. He had grown up. Maturity and height: A little bit. Everything else: A lot. She had also seen the caring side of Naruto on their various missions. So the Naruto she was seeing now confused and scared her.

Naruto had seemed to get really mad at Kiba for insulting his heritage and his parents. Sakura had just assumed that the cloak of red chakra covering Naruto had been a jutsu that he was practicing to be an ace up his sleeve. So when Sakura saw Naruto viciously attacking Kiba, her previous assumption seemed to be less logical. The fact that Naruto seemed to be destroying Kiba and even trying to kill him set warning bells off in her head. The Naruto she knew wouldn't even think about putting Kiba in this state, much less killing him.

When Kakashi suddenly had the move - Lightning Blade was it? -in his hand, Sakura suddenly backed off. Her eyes widened before Kakashi suddenly disappeared. Sakura quickly turned back to the fight, seeing a ball of something, maybe chakra, heading towards Kiba before Kakashi appeared and cleaved the ball in half. However, the two halves didn't stop and went straight past Kakashi before he disappeared again, reappeared in front of Kiba, put his hands in between the two halves, and pushed them away causing them to slam into the wall. This all happened in a matter of seconds.

Her eyes widened. This was not the Naruto she knew. Sakura continued to stare on with shocked eyes, before Naruto leaped at Kakashi after yelling "Why?" His voice was different. Something was definitely wrong. As Naruto leapt at Kakashi, tears came to Sakura's eyes, for some reason, before she shouted, "NARUTO!"

(POV Change)

Team 8 had mixed reactions. Obviously, Kiba was down there getting himself beat up, so you could obviously see his expression. His teammates expressions were ridden with distraught, fear, and worry for Kiba.

Shino Aburame didn't know much about Naruto other than what he learned in the Academy days. The main thing he knew about Naruto was that he was happy and energetic. SO by the way Naruto acted now, it seemed that Kiba did something to really screw up Naruto's psyche. The moment that red chakra, Shino's bugs went wild. They told him that if he was to fight Naruto while he was in this "mode", that he would be destroyed. Shino audibly gulped at the notion his insects were telling him. Shino knew one thing: Kiba had just thrown himself off the deep end.

Hinata Hyuga was shocked to say the least. She knew Naruto from her multiple accounts of…following him. The Naruto she knew was nice all the time and always happy. The Naruto she saw before her very eyes scared her to her core. Hinata timidly activated her Byakugan. She gasped at what she saw, before collapsing to the ground at what she saw. Hinata's sensei and Shino then proceeded to bend down and pick her up.

"Hinata, what did you see?" Like Shino and Hinata, Kurenai Yuhi, her sensei, was worried and in fear for Kiba's life. But there was another emotion the two Genin did not have: anger. Pure, unadulterated anger. Kurenai wanted nothing more than to go down there and beat the crap out of Naruto. But she held back because she knew if she did that, she would be torn to shreds.

Pushing the thoughts aside, Kurenai attended to her downed Genin beside her. She and Shino lifted Hinata back onto her feet, before staring at Hinata to answer her question. Hinata took a few deep breaths, before timidly answering Kurenai's question. "Sensei, N-Naruto-kun's chakra…it's-it's evil," Hinata stated, while everyone's eyes widened in shock, before Hinata continued, "I-it looked like a maelstrom r-raging inside of him, and…" Hinata ended before turning her head down, as if she was trying to contemplate what to say next.

"Yes Hinata, what is it?" Kurenai asked, trying to coax more answers out of the female Byakugan user. From what she heard from Hinata, this seemed to be part of Naruto's "condition." She didn't know exactly what the condition entailed, as her…"friend" Asuma, only told her a little since the information was only classified for experienced Jonin. And since she was a rookie Jonin she obviously didn't get access to the info.

Hinata waited a few more seconds before lifting her head up, staring her bleary white eyes at Kurenai. It seemed that she could barely utter the words, but she was finally able to mutter a coherent sentence. "N-Naruto-kun's inside chakra turned into something. I-it turned into a…fox. That's what startled me," Hinata said while everyone stared in shock. They continued to stare in shock, before they heard a cry of, "NARUTO!" and turned towards the field, where they saw the seemingly powered-up Naruto lunge at Kakashi.

(POV Change)

Team 10 was all in shock at what happened. While they didn't know exactly what was happening, they knew that this wasn't the normal Naruto. Even though Kiba wasn't on their team, they were still worried about their fellow Konoha shinobi.

Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Choji Akimichi knew that this wasn't the Naruto they knew from the Academy. The Naruto they knew was a dobe, had a bubbly attitude all the time, and wasn't that powerful. The Naruto they saw before their eyes was the opposite of all those things. They just couldn't seem to fathom the power that Naruto possessed. The only one who knew what was happening was their sensei.

Asuma Sarutobi, the sensei of Team 10, knew of Naruto's condition. He was the Hokage's son after all, and that tended to have its perks. He was just slightly shocked that Naruto lost control, before remembering what Kiba had done to cause this catastrophe to occur. He knew that at some point he might have to jump in to stop Naruto, but when he saw Kakashi jump in to save Kiba and confront the Kyuubi-fied Naruto, Asuma relaxed slightly. But Asuma knew he couldn't relax completely, so he kept his blades at the ready.

Team 10 and their sensei snapped their heads back toward the fight when they heard a cry of, "NARUTO!" Asuma then saw Naruto lunge at Kakashi with an intent to kill. Asuma then thought silently, "You better not die Kakashi." Asuma then put his attention towards the fight.

(POV Change)

Kakashi waited for Naruto to get closer to him to effectively take him down. But something interrupted the notion. Kakashi heard a cry of "NARUTO!" which caused Naruto to lose his concentration and look up toward the stands where the voice came from for one second. One might think that a second can't matter much in a fight. But in the shinobi world, one second can be a matter of life or death and change the whole tide of the battle. And that second was all it took for Kakashi to kick-start the battle into high gear.

The moment Naruto turned his head, Kakashi struck. Kakashi took a step back before launching a sidekick with his right leg. The resulting effect led to a flying Naruto to collide with a powerful kick which caused Naruto to be launched up and across the room into the wall higher up. Kakashi put his leg back down and stared at Naruto, as did everyone did in the stands. Kakashi stared intently at the boy stuck in the wall. He knew that this was far from over. But there was a first for everything. Deciding that he must have one-hit KO'ed Naruto, Kakashi turned around to address the Hokage, who was currently pondering over what had just occurred. "Hokage-sama, I believe that I have…" Kakashi said, before sensing the killing intent that was directed at him. Kakashi turned around to find the source of killing intent.

It was obviously Naruto.

In the crater that he was kicked into, Naruto stood sideways facedown. The crowds could see an only a few drops of blood on the floor below where Naruto was standing. Because he was face down no one could see his facial expressions. But the moment he lifted his face to look at Kakashi, everybody cringed. The look on Naruto's was one of a mass murderer, psychopath, and crazy man all thrown together.

Kakashi and Naruto stared at each other, before Naruto grinned forebodingly. He then got into a crouching stance, letting his arms hang loosely. Then something happened. Naruto tensed his legs, and then the crater he was standing in suddenly widened, increasing its radius. "Here…I…COME!" Naruto shouted before pushing at the wall and jumping at Kakashi. Kakashi only had a second raise his hands and cross his arms before Naruto slammed into him, carrying him across the floor. Naruto then proceeded to jump back, before reengaging Kakashi in a furious battle.

The battle could only be followed by most of the elite ninja there. The two ninja fighting clashed epically against one another in a furious fight each for their own reasons. One to destroy; the other to save. The two continued fighting for a full five minutes, before breaking apart to analyze each other.

Naruto was still going strong and had not "power-up" anymore. He wasn't running low on chakra at all. It seemed that he getting aggravated though, which could be told by the look on his face. Kakashi, surprisingly, was just now starting to lose chakra, since he had to use his Sharingan to keep up with Naruto. His chakra "tank" was near full, but because of the constant chakra being drained, he wasn't at full.

Naruto then proceeded to crouch down, put his right arm on the ground, and put his left arm out to the side. He then pushed off the ground and launched himself at Kakashi at head level. When Naruto was a few seconds away, Kakashi started to crouch down low to the ground. Kakashi successfully dodged Naruto by being completely under Naruto as he flew by. With split second reactions, Kakashi sprang up hitting Naruto square in the stomach and launching him up into the air. When the suspended Naruto was up into the air at about twelve feet, Kakashi then proceeded to jump in the air and roundkick Naruto back to the ground. But, Naruto somehow managed to reposition himself in the air and land on the ground in the one-leg kneeling position before smirking devilishly at the still airborne Kakashi. Naruto then punched the ground with his right arm, causing it to sink into the ground. Everyone wondered why he did that.

They soon got their answer in the form of a tremor equal to an earthquake. When the earthquake subsided a giant red claw- made of chakra? - burst out of the ground right below Kakashi, which headed towards the man at exponential speeds. Kakashi eyes widened when he saw the claw. The claw was way too big to somehow dodge, and since the potency of the demon chakra was on a toxic level, there was no way he could somehow push off the claw to get away. But when Kakashi realized that he couldn't get out of this problem…

There was a cry of, "Flying Swallow!" before the giant chakra arm was sliced in half. Kakashi and the newly identified man, Asuma, then fell to the ground. The two nodded at each other in and understanding way before turning to confront Naruto. Naruto seemed to be more evilly happy about this than mad. "The more who want to play, the more who are going to die today!" Naruto yelled before throwing himself back into the battle.

I've nurtured this chapter for a while now, so it should be appealing to the readers… I hope. Anyways, there is a poll on my page for what power or powers Naruto should have when they go to stage 3 of the Chunin Exams.
