[A/N] So this is partly from Kurt's POV and I know this story has been from Blaine's POV, but I wanted a bit of Kurt's life too. I'm thinking I may do some other chapters like this so be sure to tell me whether or not you liked it. So yes, here we are, thanks for waiting and enjoy!

To put it simply, Kurt was nervous. The date of his day out with Blaine and Harmony was slowly getting nearer and he knew that this was his one chance. If this day went wrong then that would be it with Blaine. If Harmony didn't like Kurt then he'd have lost his chance.

Kurt hadn't been around children very much. He had a few younger cousins - all of who he adored - who'd come over on some Thanksgivings and Christmases, and he had dealt with customers who had children at work, but other than that, he had no experience.

On Friday night, he went around to his dad's house for Friday night dinner. Friday night dinner was a tradition that they had tried to keep up since Kurt had left home, though with Burt working away a lot and Kurt having work, and more recently dates with Blaine, it had been changed to whenever they had time. As soon as they started eating dinner, Burt could tell that something was going on with his son. Kurt was usually bubbly and talkative, telling Carole all about his work or complaining about how his new neighbour was a pain in the ass. But this week, Kurt was quiet, pushing his food around his plate and not responding much when he was asked questions.

"What's up, kid?" Burt asked curiously. Kurt's head shot up at the question and he looked around, as if hoping Burt was talking to someone else. But, to his dismay, Finn was in New York visiting Rachel and it was only him, his father and Carole.

"Nothing, dad, why?" Kurt replied, forcing a smile as he scooped a spoonful of mashed potato up.

"Somethings up with you, I can tell. You're acting weird," Burt insisted.

"He's right Kurt, you're not yourself," Carole agreed. "What's going on, honey?"

Kurt hesitated. He'd never had to talk to his dad about boyfriends. It wasn't something that he'd had to worry about in high school and once he started college he'd had a few dates, but nothing ever serious. All the guys at college were looking for a bit of fun; a night out, a few kisses, maybe something more and then move on. Of course, Kurt had never let them get further than those few kisses. But now he had a boyfriend, and he'd have to explain the situation to his dad at some point.

"I have a boyfriend," Kurt blurted out.

After a second of silence, Kurt looked up to see his father and step mother both watching him, confusion on both of their faces.

"A boyfriend, huh?" Burt asked.

"Yeah, a boyfriend. Blaine. His name is Blaine," Kurt said.

"So... what's the deal? Shouldn't you be all happy and stuff?" Burt questioned.

"Oh, I'm happy," Kurt assured him. "I just, I'm sort of nervous. Blaine has a daughter and..."

"A daughter?" interrupted Carole. "How old is he?"

"21," Kurt answered. "It's a long story, but yes he has a 5 year old daughter and I've only met her once and it was a while ago, but tomorrow we're going to the zoo and I'm nervous that she won't like me and if she doesn't like me then Blaine won't want to see me anymore."

"Kurt, you shouldn't worry about that. I'm sure she'll love you. You're a very likable person," Carole assured him. "I've seen how you are with the kids at Christmas, and trust me honey, you either have it or you don't. Kids love you."

"I don't know, I just really don't want to screw up."

"You won't screw up, Kurt. I'm sure," Burt said, giving his son a comforting pat on the shoulder. "Now, tell me about this boyfriend of yours. How long have you been seeing him? Why didn't you mention him before?"

"Technically, we've been together since Monday, but I've been going on dates with him for a month. I met him at the coffee shop that Mel works at. He works there too and his shift got changed so he's in when I go in now. Anyway, Mel told me about him and he seemed so nice and we had stuff in common and he was looking for the same sort of relationship I'm looking for, so I asked him out. We really liked each other, but he agreed that he wanted to know me and wanted to make sure that the relationship was something we both wanted before he introduced me to his daughter. So we decided we'd continue going on dates for a month and then talk again and if we still wanted to continue then we would. And we did. So we are."

"That sounds great, Kurt. I'm glad you've found someone. Though I wish you'd mentioned him before," Burt said.

"I'm sorry. I wanted to make sure I had something to talk about if I did tell you. I wanted it to be official," Kurt replied.

"Don't worry about it, kid. So, when do we get to meet him?"

Saturday morning dawned bright but chilly. Kurt had planned his outfit the night before, but once he was up, he decided that he didn't like it anymore and emptied his wardrobe trying to find something new. The new outfit meant he had less time than he had originally allotted, so he downed a cup of coffee, showered and styled his hair and dressed quickly. He nearly forgot his keys and wallet in the rush to get out, but by the time he got to the car he was back on track. He arrived at the zoo on time and text Blaine to tell him he was there. Blaine showed up 5 minutes later, his hair slightly disheveled, but looking as perfect as ever.

"Hey," Blaine greeted him. "Sorry we're late, some one decided this morning that all of her outfits were wrong and insisted on starting from scratch." Blaine gestured to the girl who was gripping his hand.

"That's fine, I had the exact same problem," Kurt chuckled. "Hi, Harmony. I love your dress," he complimented Harmony.

Harmony looked up with big eyes, so much like Blaine's, and smiled at him.

"Thank you, grandma got it for me for my birthday. I like your scarf," she replied.

Kurt brought his hand up to his neck and toyed with the scarf that sat there. "Thank you," he replied.

"C'mon, Kurt, we have to go and see the penguins," Harmony suddenly exclaimed. "If we get there early there won't be a crowd and it's always funner when there isn't a crowd."

"More fun," Blaine corrected, but the little girl ignored him, grabbing onto Kurt's hand and dragging the two men towards the entrance to the zoo.

Kurt needn't have worried about Harmony not liking him. She was a friendly, curious girl, always asking questions and telling Kurt all she knew about the animals in the zoo. By the time they got around to having lunch, Kurt couldn't keep the smile off of his face. He felt like he belonged with Blaine and Harmony.

"I think penguins are my favourite animal," Harmony said when Blaine went to get more ketchup. "It used to be unicorns, but daddy said they're only real in books and TV."

"That's right," said Kurt. "I like penguins and unicorns, but I like turtles the most."

"Daddy likes the snakes, but I think they're creepy," Harmony said.

"Yeah, they are pretty creepy," Kurt agreed. Harmony went on to tell Kurt about this story a boy in her class had told her about a snake that had eaten a whole family, and whilst she talked, Blaine joined them again, ketchup in hand.

"Now Harmy, what do we have to be when we have sauce?" Blaine asked.

"Super, extra careful," Harmony recited. "Does Kurt know?"

"I don't know, why don't you tell him," Blaine suggested.

Harmony turned to Kurt, a serious expression on her face. "When we have sauce we have to be super, extra careful because otherwise we might get it on our clothes. If you're not super, extra careful you have to wear a bib and those are for babies."

"I'll remember," Kurt assured her with a grin.

After lunch, they went for a look around the shops. The gift shop was jam packed with cuddly toys of every animal they had at the zoo, and Kurt watched as Harmony looked around at them, glancing at the penguin toy longingly, but not asking for it.

"Do you see anything you like, Harmony?" Kurt asked. Harmony glanced at Kurt before nodding to the penguin. "Would you like a penguin?"

"Kurt, you don't have to-" Blaine tried to protest, but Kurt cut him off.

"Blaine, it's fine. It's a treat, right? I don't mind," Kurt insisted before turning back to Harmony. "You want a penguin?"

"Yes, please," Harmony grinned.

"Awesome. Grab which one you think looks the friendliest. And whilst we're here shall we find your daddy a snake?" Kurt suggested. Harmony nodded eagerly and ran off to collect the animals. When Kurt looked up at Blaine, Blaine was watching him with a dreamy smile on his face.

"You didn't have to," he said, "but you are the sweetest for doing so anyway."

"Honestly, it's no big deal," Kurt assured him. He bit his lip, nervously looking at the ground before meeting Blaine's eye again. "Do you think she likes me?"

Blaine chuckled. "Kurt, honestly, I think she adores you."

"You think?" Kurt asked, hopefully. Before Blaine could reply, a yell was heard from across the shop.

"Kurt, they have turtles! You should get a turtle because they're your favourite!"

Kurt grinned at Blaine, who looked around before dropping a quick kiss on Kurt's cheek. "Yeah, she definitely adores you."

After the zoo, they headed back to Blaine's for dinner. Kurt got in his own car and followed Blaine back. When it was just Blaine and Harmony, Blaine asked, "Harmy?" The little girl in question looked up, her penguin still clutched to her chest.

"Yeah?"

"Do you like Kurt?" he questioned.

"Yeah, he's really cool. And he said he knows how to bake cookies and said he would bake them with me one day if it's okay with you," Harmony replied.

"That's good. I'm glad," Blaine said.

"Daddy? Do you like Kurt a lot? Like the way Ariel likes Prince Eric?" Harmony said, meeting eyes with her father through his rear view mirror. Blaine smiled back at her.

"Yeah, I do, princess."

"Can Kurt hang out with us lots more?" she asked.

"I hope so," Blaine said.

"He makes you do that smile. The really smiley smile that you do when we sing," the little girl said, her eyes drifting to the road outside. "That means he makes you happy."

"Yeah, princess. He makes me happy like you make me happy."

"But I'm still your favourite little girl?"

"Harmy," Blaine sighed. "You will always be my favourite little girl. No matter what happens, you are my number one."

"That's okay. Kurt can still bake cookies with me right?" Harmony questioned.

"Of course," Blaine chuckled.
