"Oh man. I can't believe we lost. Grey, what did we do wrong?"
"Nothing, they were just too strong for us to handle."
"But, I mean, we could've…" His words were lost to him. For the first time in his life he didn't know what to say. He looked on into space as Grey spoke to him.
"We need to get out of here."
"Just how are we supposed to do that?"
"I don't know, we need a plan, and a good one. I'm not going to try any plan not thought through."
"Let us observe everything for a few weeks, find out any pattern, a hole in the wall so to speak, and exploit it to its fullest. We need to ring that bell."
"Good idea. We can't deviate from our daily activities or the guards will suspect something is up."
"Agreed."
The next few days went rather quickly and Amaroq found a couple defense failures.
1. The guards always changed shifts at exactly the same time
2. Sometimes a team will come back late from practice. The cafeteria allows those people to have weapons.
3. Lunch break is 12 to 12:30 and the guards switched at 12:15
4. The door to the weapons locker is never locked
These four holes allowed for a quick plan to come together. In no time at all they had a solid plan. Grey felt confident enough to give it a try. There was only one problem though, they needed more people.
When the opportunity came for them to rematch against Sephiroth and Zack, Amaroq and Grey accepted it without any problem. When they walked in Amaroq began his praying ritual, and noticed that Zack did the same. Then the battle began. "Why must you continue to inflict pain upon yourself?" Sephiroth asked. "I'm not; I needed to talk to you. Grey's talking to Zack as we speak. We need your help. Can we make a temporary pact, you help us escape and we all go free into the world again?"
"I don't think you really have any other choice, but I will accept your proposal."
"Good, keep fighting me. On my count we'll both deplete each other's stamina. Ready One, Two, and Three!"
They fought and fought matching each other blow for blow until neither of them could lift their swords. Grey and Zack did the same. When it was all over, Grey dug his claws into the ground and howled. Zack was in too. The next day, Amaroq requested practice with Sephiroth and Zack. It was granted and while they were fighting Amaroq told them the plan.
"We skip lunch. Stay in our cells. When the guards change shifts, we will pick the lock and get out of our cells then it off to the weapons locker where we'll find our weapons. We meet in the cafeteria at 12:30. The guards will think we have come from a late practice and allow us to go in and eat our lunch without question of our weapons. We knock out the four guards and use their clothes to sneak past security. The guards may ask why we have a prisoner's weapon, so you have to be ready with a response. We then just carve our way through the guards until we reach the front doors. Are there any questions?"
Sephiroth and Zack shook their heads no. Amaroq was quite proud of himself be able to explain all of this to both people while still battling Zack, to make it look like practice. "I'll be home tomorrow," he thought. They left the room. The plan was in motion.
