Disclaimer: I don't own Pretty Little Liars
AN: Sorry it's super short, I promise I'll try to make the next one longer.
"Hanna..."
Make sure the kids get to school, grab coffee, go to work. That was his schedule, run into dead wife was not on the list.
"Caleb..." Hanna trailed off his name with a heavy sigh following. She wasn't expecting to run into him so soon. Of course with Rosewood being a small town and all she eventually expected to run into him and maybe even their kids, just not so soon.
"Hi..." The blonde finally completed her sentence.
"Well this is awkward." The even smaller blonde, Avery was her name, spoke as she looked back and forth at the two adults.
She might have only been seven, but the girl's intelligence was very enlarged for a child that age. She knew exactly what was going on, it wasn't as if Hanna hadn't told her beforehand. Besides, even if she hadn't she would've found out sooner or later. Avery was no idiot.
Shrinking to the girl's level, Hanna briefly rested a light hand on the girl's shoulder as she began caressing her arm, rubbing it up and down lovingly.
"Sweetheart, why don't you go take a seat over there?" Hanna suggested as she pointed to the couches located within the café.
"But I—" Avery attempted to protest but was cut off by the older blonde.
"Please." Hanna asked, cutting the young girl off before she had a chance to complete her sentence.
With a cross of her arms and a pout, the seven year old marched to the couch with a stomp. The couches also within Hanna's eye range so she could keep an eye on the girl.
The two young adults waited until the child reluctantly took a seat on the couch.
"Sorry about that." Hanna apologized as she stood up, wiping her hands on her jeans as she did so.
"What are you doing here?" Caleb asked with no hesitation at all, an eyebrow raised as he crossed his arms.
"I uhm- I was in the neighborhood." Hanna attempted to play dumb as if she didn't know what he was really asking.
"Cut the crap, Hanna." Caleb was assertive in the way he spoke.
"I meant why are you here as in alive?" Caleb made sure he was specific this time, since Hanna wanted to play dumb.
"Would you prefer if I was dead?" Hanna asked, blatantly avoiding the question.
"Hanna, what do you want?" Caleb asked, not in the mood for these games.
"I want to see my kids." Hanna answered.
A wry chuckle left Caleb's lips as she answered his question. "Your kids?" He asked, unbelievingly.
"Yes, my kids. I have a right to see them." Hanna said.
"No, Hanna. You don't. You relinquished your right to see them when you faked your death and ran off." Caleb retaliated, his tone getting louder.
"Caleb Rivers." The barista called from behind the counter, handing Caleb his coffee.
Taking the coffee, he turned back around to face Hanna. "Can you at least tell me why?"
Hanna looked to the ground, she couldn't bare to look at Caleb, much less explain herself.
"Of course." Caleb sighed. "I have to go." Caleb said before then leaving the blonde all by herself with Avery in the coffee shop.
