Chapter 20

Inappropriate Relationship

Santana

Santana's eyes flickered awake against the soft skin of Brittany's shoulder. Her hair laid a mess over the pillows they shared. A pair of plush lips pressed against her forehead causing a shy smile to crawl across her face. During their nap Santana had rolled over placing her head on Brittany's shoulder and the blonde had held her close with both arms wrapped protectively around her.

" 'm naked" Santana mumbled happily not daring to move an inch.

"Yea, you are." Brittany chuckled. Her long fingers began stroking lightly up Santana's arm as her other hand drummed on Santana's naked hip bone. Their bare legs intertwined together like the roots of two tree, who had naturally grown together. Santana tilted her head up slightly in order to see Brittany gazing back down at her, she looked more beautiful than words.

"What?" Brittany whispered.

"Nothing" Santana said nodding for a kiss. The two shared a long searing kiss before eventually taking a breath. Santana sighed with content. The nap had really helped her to relax and clear her mind of everything that had gone on, however she didn't feel ready to move and begin to face her real problems. Instead there was Brittany.

"Babe" Santana said as she lazily drew line over Brittany's abs hidden out of sight by the covers.

"Hmm."

"Can we talk about what happened with Axel? I'm worried and I don't like the sound of this bet. He's clearly not a trustworthy guy and I don't like you getting mixed up in all this drama. Don't you think it's better to let Jason handle it? He seems to know what he's doing." She frowned.

Brittany leaned her head back against the pillow and stared up at the ceiling considering her girlfriends words carefully.

"It's not about Jason or the money anymore, babe. If it was I'd agree with you and let my brother take care of it. When Axel approached you in the parking lot today he made it personal, he made it about you. I'm not racing for my brother, I'm racing to make sure Axel stays as far away from you and Roman as possible." Brittany said softly.

Santana could feel her heart skip in her chest. There was something about how protective Brittany was that made her blush and swoon. No one, not even her brother looked out for her like that.

"I don't understand how he made it about me though? And how can you be sure that he'll stay away once you win." Santana frowned.

"Racers live by a code. If you go back on a deal or break your word—-it's better never to show your face again, unless you'd like to take a trip to the emergency room."

Santana took in a sharp breath.

"Okay, now I really don't want you doing this. I'm sure we can get Roman and some of his football buddies to protect you and Jason."

"And who's going to protect you, San." Brittany said wearily " Axel wasn't afraid to harass you in the parking lot today, what makes you think he wouldn't try something like that again, while your brother is too busy protecting me? Racing is the only answer."

Santana looked away and gave Brittany a small squeeze to show she understood.

"Just promise me you'll be careful."

"Promise." Brittany grinned.

Santana closed her eyes and listened to the light beating of Brittany's heart, which would occasionally speed up every once in a while as she talked. She had never felt so warm and sunny inside and out, like the way Brittany made her feel.

"Hey, so what are you going to do about Puck. You're not going to slug him are you? I feel like you'd be at a slight disadvantage, Rocky."

"Are you teasing me, Miss Pierce? You know I could totally take Puck in a heart beat if I wanted to." Santana raised an arm and flexed her bicep. "See nothing but muscle."

"Uh huh. Sorry baby, but you're about as intimidating as a Chihuahua in a lion suit. Seriously though, what are you going to do? I can see your still upset." Brittany placed another kiss, this time on Santana's cheek.

"I'm going to break up with him, obviously." She sighed." It just hurts ya know? Like, sure it wasn't real, but he obviously all the sweet things he's said are worthless now."

Santana's thoughts trailed away from her, leaving her motionless. She could sense Brittany's eyes on her, but she didn't make an effort to speak again. After a moment she was jared when Brittany rolled over and laid on top of her.

"Let me make it better." She whispered leaning in with a burning kiss. Santana moaned lightly as Brittany's body rubbed against her own, sending small jolts tingling everywhere. Her girlfriend kept her hands in safe areas, but that didn't stop Santana from weaving her fingers through Brittany's hair and any other place she could reach.

After several long minutes of intense making out, Brittany pulled back breathing heavy and giggling with Santana, who couldn't hide her smile.

"Sorry you're just too sexy to resist sometimes."

"I'm really not, but it's sweat you think so" Santana laughed and bit her lip.

"Hey I have another question about Axel.." Santana said brushing a strand of hair out of Brittany's face that had blocked her large blue eyes. Brittany made her self comfy, still laying directly on top with her head and hands on Santana's sternum.

"Hmm" She hummed.

"Where's your mom, Britt? Axel mentioned you had a dream of finding her, what happened." Santana asked sweetly, however it was clear Brittany was made instantly uncomfortable.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Brittany countered, rolling off Santana and sliding out of bed naked. "She works late, that's why she's never here."

Santana frowned when she was suddenly left cold yet she hungrily eyed Brittany as the girl dug through her drawers for a pair of pants and a t-shirt.

"Brittany." Santana began with caution sensing how sensitive the topic seemed to be. " I've been seeing you for a few months now. I already know your parents aren't in the picture anymore, I asking what happened. If you're not ready to talk about it I understand, but please don't lie to me."

Brittany pulled on a pair of unicorn pj bottoms and a ducky shirt before glancing over her shoulder at Santana as she considered her words. Slowly she turned around and leaned against the dresser, using it to hold herself upright.

"James—dad has been in and out of our lives since I can remember. Jason's the only one who can remember a time when we were all together living in a house." She began. Telling the story seemed to take a physical tole on her so Santana gathered up the blankets and sat up to listen closely.

"When I was four he went away for the first time on minor drug possession charges and was released on good behavior six months later. I can't remember how many times he's been in and out or what all the different charges were, but it was a lot. Sometimes he was gone for a day sometimes months or years. He's been away for felony grand theft auto for the last two years, but he could get paroled at any time." She shrugged shaking her hair back and folding her arms over her chest.

"Britt, that's horrible. I'm sorry to hear that."

"Honestly, I don't really care about him. He and Jason never got along and he's kinda a huge jerk anyway. I once saved a whole twenty dollars to by a new dress for myself and he stole it when I wasn't home, so who needs him right?"

"Right, but still…" Santana trailed off. " And your mom?"

Brittany glanced down at her feet casually and shrugged, looking for the right words.

"Um..she was a nice person. With James not really around she did her best to take care of us. She worked two full time jobs so she was almost never around, but it was enough to keep food in the fridge, school clothes sometimes, and rent. She had a few boyfriends too and they weren't so bad." Brittany fiddled with her shirt taking long pauses to collect her self. Santana could see that this was not something Brittany talked about ever by the way her voice shook. She wanted nothing more then to rock Brittany in her arms, but it seemed as though that would not help the pain Brittany felt inside.

"Jason did okay. He got into Ohio State University thanks to football and racing, but I don't know what happened after that." Her voice began to quiver. "Um…He was a freshmen and I was like..thirteen or so…We had just been evicted from our apartment because they were going to build a grocery store or something, so we were living out of our car just the two of us—mom and I.

Brittany paused for a moment in order to collect herself. She glanced up at Santana who watched her with eyes that morned for her heartbreak.

"I guess I was being a handful that day, whining about the car being uncomfortable and how I was hungry. She must have—-Well she said lets go for a walk in the park and buy some ice cream, so we did. She told me to wait on the bench while she went to find the man with the cart." Brittany took a shaky breath. " um—I sat there for two days before a patrol car picked me up. Someone must have called out of concern. They took me to the station and I explained what happened and gave a description of my mom and her car, but they never found her. She was just gone. They finally managed to get a hold of Jason and I've been in his custody ever since."

Santana sat utterly dumbfounded and enraged. How could someone just abandoned their own child in a public park. It was inconceivable. Santana's own mother was a belligerent drunk, who hardly left her own bedroom, but at least she pretended to care about Santana and Roman's well being. At least she made a small effort to be a parent. There were no words to express how deeply saddened she felt by Brittany's story.

Instead of trying to speak she stood with the blankets wrapped around her and walked over to Brittany and wrapped her up in a warm hug, lightly swaying back and forth until her girlfriend had once again relaxed.

"It's okay, Britt. I'm not going anywhere." She whispered into the girl's hair.

They sat in Brittany's room for another hour or so, just talking about life and gossiping about the latest episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, before Santana realized it had to be pretty late.

"Shit, where's my phone" Santana mumbled looking around Brittany's floor for her clothes only to remember she left most of them out in the hallway. She was now wearing one of Brittany's old racing shirts and a pair of booty shorts that Brittany strategically had given her to wear. "I'll be right back."

Santana got up and walked down the hall gathering up her things as she went.

"Hey how about we sleep here tonight babe? We can order Pizza and have a date night?" Santana yelled as she dug through her pockets to find her cell phone. She flicked it open to find eight missed calls and a dozen texts

Roman: Santana, where are you! The school called and said you were suspended for a week.I covered for you, but what the actual fuck? Is Brittany with you? She hasn't picked up ether. Jason's worried.

Puck: Look S, it's not what you think…okay maybe it is what you think but there's more to it. You're still my girl. Call me.

Roman: Stop ignoring me! Where are you guys?!

Jason: Hey little Lo, can you have Britt text to let me know she's okay. She's not picking up.

Rachel: Suspended Santana! Are you kidding me! I'll have you know this is in violation of your agreement when you joined glee club. You are NOT being a team player. Lucky for you the Glee club has voted to give you a warning. I of course do not agree. I think fighting with Quinn shows your true colors and we don't need that kind of trouble in our ranks. That being said I hope you take this punishment as a wake up call and get your act together.

Jason: So since nether of you are picking up I'm assuming you're ether dead in a ditch or in Britt's room doing the dirty. Ether way try to get back to me soon. K cool. Condoms are in my top drawer. xoxo

Quinn: Can we talk?

"Wow, that's a lot of messages." Brittany wrapped her arms around Santana's waist and placed several delicate kisses along her neck.

"Read what Jason said" Santana bit her lip and pulled up Jason's second text.

"He's just kidding. He doesn't know anything." Brittany said hiding her face in Santana's shoulder. "He could have meant our boyfriends…He did say condoms. Unless there's something you're not telling me"

Santana gave her an 'as if' sort of look and shook Jason's comments off. He was the least of her current problems.

"I know. I'm not mad. I actually just thought it was funny." she shrugged

"I'll call for Pizza if your take care of our brothers." Brittany pecked Santana and went to grab her own phone. Santana scrolled through her texts taking care of the easy ones first.

To Rachel: Fuck off, Rachel

To Quinn: I have nothing to say to you.

To Puck: Honestly, I don't give a rats ass what your reasons were for fucking my best friend. You can jump in the river for all I care. I hope your ass gets crabs. I'm not your girl anymore. We're done.

To Jason: Hey Jace, everything is okay. Yes Brittany and I are at your house. NOOO we are not having sex. Perv. We were watching Disney movies and singing really loud so we didn't hear our phones, sorry. Britt's ordering Pizza for us and we're having a sleep over to celebrate me slapping the crap out of a girl who slept with my boyfriend.

She bit the inside of her cheek as she listened to Brittany on the phone in the kitchen.

To Roman: Brittany and I are fine. Puck cheated on me with Quinn and I kinda lost it. Britt and I went to her place so I could calm down before coming home. We decided to stay here tonight. Sorry we didn't pick up we were singing to Disney movies.

Brittany skipped down the hall

"Hope your okay with half pepperoni, half dessert and pineapple." She beamed.

"That sounds great!"

"What did the boys say?" She asked pointing at Santana's phone. She glanced back down to see her phone ringing.

"Hello?" Santana answered awkwardly.

"Okay, first of all we don't own any Disney movies little Lo. Brittany rents them from the library. If you're gunna lie to cover up all the sexy things you've been up to with my sister you're going to have to try a little harder then that. You are talking to the master after all"

"Who is it?" Brittany asked silently.

"We didn't have sex, Jason." Santana shot a coy look at Brittany who blushed. " I have a boyfriend and so does Brittany."

"So you're saying you would if you didn't have a boyfriend? Interesting. I'm just pointing out that you did just tell me he cheated on you and I know Brittany would be all too willing to help you get over him by getting under you—-okay well not under you. She's always struck me as more of a top."

Brittany snatched the phone from Santana who seemed too stunned to speak.

"Jason! Seriously, we did not have sex." Brittany growled into the phone.

"Take a breath baby sis, I'm only teasing." Jason chuckled into the phone. "Hey, I was calling to let you know to keep and eye out. Word is Axel has been on the prowl looking for me. I don't want him anywhere near you."

"…It's a little late for that." Brittany glanced at Santana who hadn't fully recovered just yet, so she took her hand and lead her over to the couch to have a seat.

"What do you mean? What happened?"

"Axel approached Santana after school trying to get to me to get to you."

"Fuck. Is she okay?"

"Yea, she's fine. She did great actually." Brittany shot Santana a smile and held her hand. "I took care of it and made sure he wouldn't bother them again."

"Britt please tell me you didn't do anything foolish." Santana had never heard Jason sound so genuinely concerned before.

"Erm—I had to make a deal."

"Britt! Are you crazy! What were you thinking!"

"I was thinking about Santana and how you skipped town leaving us all alone, just like mom." Brittany snapped and even Santana winced. Jason didn't speak right away.

"What were the conditions." he asks quietly.

"A race at the next midnight rally, winner gets the 5,000 you took plus the 5,000 prize money for the next race, and additional 2,000 for the hassle of it all. The deal makes Santana, you, me, and Roman off limits. If anyone bothers us all bets are off and the money is back in the open."

"Britt, you bet 12,000 dollars." Jason sounded tiered.

"I didn't have much of a choice." She countered.

"One thing is certain you're not racing again, not after what happened last time. I'll think of something to get us out of this mess. I miss you baby sis."

"I miss you too" She said softly.

"Give Santana a kiss for me." Jason teased only to earn an eye roll from both girls.

"Later Jason." Brittany smiled and hung up.

Sunday had rolled around quicker then Santana would have liked. Going to church and pretending to be a real family always felt awkward, like everyone secretly knew their dirty laundry. She always felt the hostile eyes of god burning down on her for every bad thing she had ever done, but this week seemed especially condemning. She had yet to tell her family about her fight with Quinn or the suspension and she had nearly gone all the way with Brittany just a few days earlier.

Brittany thrummed her fingers on one of the closed hymnals trying to keep her boredom at bay as she tried to follow along with the service. To Santana's left she noticed her father shooting her a warning look to keep Brittany in line, while to her right Quinn kept stealing glances a t her from across the room. She gave a low sigh and refocused on the message of the service.

"I totally get why Jason never wants to go to church now, it's so depressing and sad. I follow Jesus on twitter and he seems much happier now that he's in heaven." Brittany whispered in Santana's ear when mass had concluded. Santana bit back a smile only to be startled by a hand on her shoulder.

"Santana, peace be with you." said father Thomas kindly. "Who is your friend? I don't believe I've seen her among our congregation before."

"Hello father!" Santana said surprised by his sudden appearance. "This is erm—Brittany Pierce. She's Roman's girlfriend."

The priest held out his hand to Brittany with a kind smile as Santana stood uncomfortably. If he gathered this was the girl Santana was crazy about he didn't let it show.

"I know how dull church can be for young people, but it makes me happy to see their faces regardless. I hope to see you again Brittany. It was wonderful having you."

"Thank you—sir." Brittany smiled that grin that always seemed to light up the room and that made Santana's heart dance.

"Excuse me father, do you have a moment." Quinn stepped forward, but was looking directly at Santana. She narrowed her eyes in a scowl, but Brittany placed a hand on her shoulder. There was a sadness in Quinn's eyes that had broken through her bossy bitch exterior which Santana had never seen before.

"Santana—" She began but was cut off by Roman.

"Hey Pop says you guys need to hurry up. You know how abuela gets when we're late."

Santana shot Quinn a sharp glare before marching off to join the rest of her family

"Brittany, eat up there's plenty of food. You're skin and bones child." Alma Lopez chided at their sunday evening dinner table. She reached across the table and smacked Roman in the back of the head. Santana almost felt bad for him, but ever since she yelled at him Roman had been strangely on her ass. He wanted to know what she and Brittany were up to every moment of everyday and it was getting annoying.

"Ow! Ama! what was that for?!" he hissed rubbing the back of his head.

"For not feeding your girlfriend properly. Look at her! Waisting away like she hasn't had a bite to eat in months. You call yourself a man. Just like your father, doesn't know how to take care of his women." She shot a hard glare at Navarro who ignored her at the far end of the table.

Santana's father on the other hand had been more aloof then usual. It was obvious to everyone that her parents were separated to some extent, but he had always managed to come home from work every once in a while for family meals. However lately he had been coming home less and less, which meant he was probably seeing someone. The idea made Santana sick and angry, but it wasn't her place to speak of it.

"It's not his fault Ms. Lopez. I'm just really tall and I exercise a lot, so I never seem to gain weight." Brittany smiled politely shooting a glance at Santana.

"Non-sense. You're just not eating enough girl." Alma said sitting back with a triumphant smile on her face. Santana loved the way her abuela could control a room with a simple flick of her wrist and the fact that she had taken such an interest in Brittany's well being made Santana glow with pride. Her brother on the other hand sat looking utterly miserable.

"Santana, how are your studies." Alma asked looking sharply at her granddaughter. Santana swallowed thickly, caught off guard by the sudden interest in her life. If there was one person you did not lie to, it was her abuela.

"Uh.." she grumbled pushing her food around her plate awkwardly. She had yet to come clean about her suspension for fear of what her parents my do, but she hated to disappoint her grandmother even more. " Classes are good."

"Is that it? Good, that is all you have to say." Alma said pointedly sensing there was something Santana was hiding. "Speak up and don't mumble."

"Er actually there's something I need to come clean about." Santana said carefully glancing over at Brittany for strength. Roman put his arm protectively around the blonde's shoulders, only to have Brittany move away " I've been suspended for the next few weeks."

"Santana!" Navarro growled at the end of the table. Maria gasped and sipped her wine.

"Both of you hush!" Alma snapped. "Santana why has this happened."

Santana looked around the table, at her parents and then back to her abuela.

"I found out my—my boyfriend had been cheated on me with my best friend, not Brittany, Quinn. I lost my cool and we got into a fight. I slapped her and shoved her into a locker. It was wrong and I know I shouldn't have, my feelings were just so hurt."

"I knew that Puck guy was no good." Roman shook his head, but it was Navarro who seemed furious.

"This is unacceptable Santana! You're under too much pressure with these after school activities. From this moment on you are grounded and you will be quitting Glee and the Cheerios. You will come home and study right after school. I have half a mind to take your car and phone away too." Navarro said pointing his fork at her across the table. "No daughter of mine, acts in such a way. It's an embarrassment."

"Papi, no! Glee and cheer are the only things that keep me out of trouble! They're good for me and all of my grades have gone up. It has nothing to do with them!" Santana whined across the table, but her father wouldn't hear it.

"And you…" he turned his head toward Brittany. "We have been very understanding by opening our home up to you, but I think you've about stayed your welcome. You've been distracting my daughter and my son from their responsibilities—-"

Brittany sunk back in her chair with an intimidated whimper that sent Santana's protective instinct through the roof, but the look on her girlfriend's face told her not to do anything foolish. She merely looked away sadly.

"Cállate Navarro. You do not speak to my guests this way." Alma cut in holding up her hand to silence the room. " Brittany dear, forgive him. He mistakenly thinks that because he was born a man he speaks for this family. He does not. You are welcome to stay with Santana and Roman for as long as you need dear."

Brittany looked bewildered and unsure of just who she should listen to, but she thanked Alma regardless.

"Mother! I will not have it." Navarro jeered across the table. " I'm sick of your insults and undermining me in front of my family old women."

"The day you start acting like a real husband and father again is the day you'll regain a say in this family. Until then you will sit and eat your food silently. " Alma yelled right back at him. " Or else you may leave." she pointed to the door.

She paused a moment for her son to soak in her words. He snarled through gritted teeth before abruptly standing and storming out of the house. Alma cleared her throat and looked back at Santana.

"I believe you know what you did was not right, Santana" She spoke softly and clearly yet it send shivers down everyone's spine. "We did not raise you to act like some little chola thug. You step another toe out of line and you'll really understand what it means to get a beating. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, ma'am" Santana sunk down in her seat.

"That being said I think your father's right. Your studies are the most important thing, which is why I think it'll be good for you to spend your suspension away from all this drama. I want you to take the key to my cabin and spend your time there, reflecting on your behavior and getting your work done. The last thing you need to be thinking about is all this ridiculous boy drama. You shouldn't even be dating. Do you know what happens to girls your age who date? Hmm? They get pregnant, Santana. Are you ready to have a baby?"

Santana's cheeks turned bright red. She noticed Brittany shyly playing with the ends of her hair, not wanting to look up.

"No ma'am"

"That's right." Alma said.

"But Ama, I can't just leave Brittany behind. I've been tutoring her in school. Helping her study also helps me study."

"Take her then, Santana. Aye dios, use that brain of yours." Alma waved her hand dismissively at Santana's concern.

Santana looked over at Brittany who seemed to be lost in all the commotion of the moment.

"Abuelita! You're letting Santana and Brittany stay in your cabin for the next two plus weeks! How is that fair. You've never let me stay there." Roman whined.

"This is not fun, it's a punishment. Santana will be studying and doing work not tanning by the pool. If her friend aids her in that I don't see the issue. Stop being selfish. This is about your sister, unless there's something you feel you need to come clean about boy. No? Silencio y terminal tu comida antes de que consiga la chancla."

Santana bit back her laughter. Sure her abuela had intended cabin seclusion as a punishment for her bad behavior, but it turned into a positive. She was already thinking of all the benefits that came with two weeks alone with Brittany in a mountain cabin. It was almost too good to be true.

Santana ran her hands through her girlfriend's silky smooth hair enjoying the way it flowed like water past her finger tips. Careful not to tug too hard she began french braiding.

"Sorry about what happened at dinner, Britt." Santana said nimbly working Brittany's hair between her fingers. "my dad can be such an ass."

"Don't worry about it, San. Honestly I'm just really confused who I should listen to. I mean your dad made it pretty clear that he wants me out of the house, which is fine now that Axel is gone, but your Abola is a little terrifying and I wouldn't want to make her mad ether."

"Abuela, Britt" Santana corrected. "It's like she said, he has no authority over our house anymore, so if I were you I'd stay. Plus, I want you to stay. I've gotten use to falling asleep with my girlfriend next to me and when she's not their I can't digest my food at night."

She made quick work of the last section of Brittany's hair, tiring it off and laying down in from of her with a lazy smirk.

"Well I can't very well say no to that, can I?" Brittany grinned and leaned down to peck Santana's lips. "How did I ever get so lucky?" she sighed.

"I ask myself that everyday" Santana teased only to get a small shove. She caught Brittany's hand with her free one and locked their fingers together.

"Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something." She licked her lips nervously. " I was thinking that maybe my 'punishment' doesn't have to be all bad?"

Brittany furrowed her brows and Santana knew she'd have to be more straight forward with her thoughts.

" If you were to come with me to my abuela's cabin it would give us a chance to get closer to one another." Santana bit her lip and raised her eyebrows.

Brittany remained confused for a moment but the meaning soon dawned on her. Her eyes grew a shade darker and a thin smirk slid across her face. She crawled forward on the bed hovering over Santana's blushing face.

"Oh, so you're saying that you want me to stay in a secluded cabin in the woods for two weeks, where we'll have nothing but a fire place and our own body heat to keep us warm." Brittany husked in a dark sexy voice Santana had never heard from her before.

She reached up and played with the small tip of Brittany's braid which hung over her shoulder in front of her face, afraid to look directly into her love's eyes.

"That is exactly what I'm saying." she whispered breathlessly.

"I think that is an excellent idea." Brittany began to lean down when there was a loud knock at Santana's door.

Startled Santana shoved Brittany away and sat upright.

"Yea, what?!" She snapped angrily when Roman poked his head in.

"San, can I talk to you privately in my room for a second." He said with a sour look on his face.

"Britt and I were just about to watch a movie, can't it wait?" Santana groaned.

"No. I need to talk to you now, please." he said firmly turning to walk away, but leaving the door open.

Santana looked over at Brittany who was laying back against the bed with her arm covering her eyes.

"Sorry, hold that thought I'll be right back." She said hopping off the bed and walking down the hall toward her brother's room.

She stepped in closing the door behind her. For being a guy Roman was surprisingly clean, with a good sense of taste. His bed was tucked into the far corner with black sheets accented by red pillows, much like Santana's own room. But instead of a vanity area and a lot of clothing storage he had several thick bookshelves covered in comics and video games. His tv sat centered on the wall with his x-box close by.

"What do you want." She folded her arms indifferently. They had always been somewhat close but over the last few months Roman had grown to be a real thorn in her side.

"Well first I wanted to ask if you were okay. I know how attached you were to Noah; I remember how you went all Bella Swan crazy and locked yourself in your bedroom for like a week when I fought with him or whatever."

Santana closed her eyes for a moment. Did her brother just refer to her as Bella Swan from fucking twilight? Wait, did that make Brittany Edward or was it Jacob? Who was she kidding Brittany was so Alice and that made her perfect for Santana.

"I'm okay, thanks." Santana said taking her attitude down a few bars. "It really sucks, but it felt like it was coming to an end anyway."

"I'd offer to beat his ass again, but I don't think you'd like that. Plus from what I hear you learned to take care of yourself." He laughed reaching out to give her a quick hug.

"There's something else I wanted to talk about though, but I don't want you to get all defensive and angry at me. I'm just looking out for you."

"Okay, whatever that means." Santana scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Seriously San, hear me out." He began. "I don't think your relationship with Brittany is appropriate."

Santana's eyebrows shot up, but Roman held up his hands to explain.

"I know you guys are just best friends and I know girls are a lot more affectionate with their friends then guys are, I'm just saying your guys seem weirdly close." He shifted awkwardly as Santana narrowed her eyes. "Look all I'm saying is that your single now since I'm assuming you dumped Puck's cheating ass and that you should be careful. I know what high school kids are like. If you act the way you do at home with Brittany people are going to start rumors about you. The last thing I want is for people talking about my baby sister behind her back saying that she's some kind of—"

"Some kind of what, Roman" Santana sneered

"Dyke." he shrugged. "Which is also why I don't think you should take her with you to the mountains. You and I both know that if you guys go up there it's just going to turn into some kind of girls weekend slumber party. Brittany can't afford to fall behind in her studies and you're only going to be a distraction. Plus you know abuela intended it as a punishment, not some fun trip away from ma and papi."

Santana could feel her anger rising to a bowl. She had half the mind to slap Roman across the face right then and there, but she feared it might seem out of place. She didn't want to make him more suspicious then he already was.

"You know what I think, Rome? I think my friendship with Brittany is none of your damn business. I think that you're just jealous that Abuela is letting me go to her cabin with my best friend and not you. I think you're jealous that Brittany and I are such good friends because you're failing at being a half decent boyfriend. I also think that your assumptions about what people at McKinley think are totally out dated and show just what kind of bigoted ass-hat you really are. I'm the number one bitch at school and no one would think twice about my sexuality, because I'm hot and every guy wants a piece." Santana's voice steadily began to raise until she was full tilt shouting. " You want to know what's inappropriate? The fact that you're in college and your trying to have sex with a high school student who isn't even of age yet! How's that for an inappropriate relationship! Next time you want to give me advice why don't you stop and shove it up your own ass instead."

"Santana! What on earth is going on" Maria asked opening Roman's bedroom door in a sleepy haze one look and she saw Brittany was also standing in the hall, her mouth agape.

"Roman and I were just having a discussion on what 'minding your own business' means. Sorry for waking you ma." She turned back to Roman "We're done here."

Brittany

Brittany practically skipped through the halls of school Monday afternoon. In her hand she clutched a sigh note from Santana's mother stating that Brittany would be going out of town for two weeks to visit some family. The signature at the bottom read 'Jason Pierce'. She had spent the morning early packing with Santana, driving back and forth picking thing up they might need from the grocery store and clothes from Brittany's house. Santana seemed determined to remain in a good mood through out the day despite the fight she had with Roman the night before.

While Brittany had heard the clear sound of Santana's voice crack the preverbal whip on Roman, she had no idea what the fight was about. The only words she had hear clear as a bell where certainly the ones that stuck with Roman the most. "You want to know what's inappropriate? The fact that you're in college and your trying to have sex with a high school student who isn't even of age yet! How's that for an inappropriate relationship!" Nether Roman nor Santana felt inclined to share what had caused the disagreement, but Brittany was certain it had something to do with her.

However, despite the obvious tension in the Lopez home she could not contain her excitement. She was about to spend the rest of the month cozied up next to Santana by a fire place, playing house and making sweet lady love on every surface possible. The thought brought a rich blush to her cheeks. She could hardly wait.

Brittany rounded the corner and bumped straight into Quinn who looked pale and unsteady on her feet.

"Watch it." She hissed only to catch Brittany's eye. "Oh it's you."

"Yup, it's me." Brittany said with an indifferent smile. Not even Quinn could shake her happy out look today. Brittany side stepped the cheerio and took two steps toward Figgin's office when Quinn called to her.

"Brittany wait. I need to ask you a favor." All the pride in Quinn's holier-than-thou tone had gone. She slowly turned and looked back at the cheer captain.

"I need you to get Santana to talk to me. I need to tell her—-how sorry I am." Quinn said reluctantly running her fingers through her hair.

Brittany only laughed and shook her head lightly.

"You were her best friend and you slept with her boyfriend behind her back, why would I help you?"

Quinn's dark blue eyes locked with Brittany's in a dead stare as she took a few steps forward.

"I know about you." She said softly so that Brittany could barely hear.

"Excuse me?" She said taking a few steps toward Quinn.

"I know…about you and Santana." Quinn said looking around to make sure no one was listening.

Brittany narrowed her eyes feeling an unfamiliar sense of anger spark in her. She new to protect Santana no matter the cost.

"I have no idea what you're taking about." She said now standing only inches away from Quinn. Both girls kept their voices low so not to be over heard.

" She was so mad at you for just waltzing into her shower…or is flustered the better word?" Quinn said calmly. "What was it you said? 'Sorry, I just love the face you make when you get angry, you look so cute I just want to kiss you.' or something like that."

Brittany turned sheet white.

"I had forgotten my jacket and I saw you both that day, but I never said anything."

"Are you threatening me Fabray?" Brittany asked her expression stone cold.

"No, believe it or not I actually care about Santana. I've suspected she might be bi or whatever for a while, but I never said anything because I know how awful people can be at this school. When you came along I was—-okay at first I was jealous not because I'm into that, but because she was spending so much time with you. Then I realized that you're actually good for her. You make her a happier person, Brittany." Quinn looked away and sighed.

"What happened with Noah was a mistake and I need her to forgive me. I—I can't go through this if I think she hates me. I need my friend—do you understand?"

Brittany noticed the way Quinn was holding her self, her abdomen. She gasped slightly.

"Oh god. You're not—-are you?"

Quinn gave a short nod. "It happened when Santana was fighting with Noah, he was sad and I thought Finn was cheating on me with Berry. I didn't mean for it to happen. The other night at the party I wanted to keep Santana away from Puck and make sure she didn't make the same mistake I did. I met up with him to explain and tell him the baby is his. That's all that happened" Quinn confessed.

"I see." Brittany sucked in her lips thinking the whole messed up situation over. Quinn still slept with Puck behind Santana's back, though Quinn knew the whole time that she and Santana had been involved. Now Quinn needed her best friend to have her back, the way she had Santana's back even when it wasn't obvious.

"I don't know what to say, Santana's really hurt. She has trust issues already, but we're going on a short trip while she's suspended. I can try to talk to her and get her to come around."

Quinn's eyes seemed to light up for the first time in days.

"Really? Brittany that would be wonderful!"

"I can trust you not to share our secret right? I've made a lot of progress with her and if she found out you knew or if anyone found out, it could really mess a lot up for her."

"Of course, Brittany. I'd never tell, but I think you should remind her in your own way that there are people who love her for who she is and not who she loves. And if you tell her I said that I'll kick your ass off the squad and deny every word of it" she warned.

"As if Fabray. You need my killer dance moves. I'm going to give you a big hug now okay?" Brittany spread her arms and lightly squeezed Quinn. "You're going to get through this. I'll give you my number and you can text me while your away if you need to talk."

"Thanks." was all the smaller girl could say.

Fifteen minutes later Brittany was bounding back to Santana's care which sat in the parking lot of McKinley.

"What took so long, babe?" Santana asked checking her lip gloss in the mirror.

"Oh, Mr. Shue had to dig through like twelve folders to find all the sheet music we'll need to practice while we're gone."

"Pfft. He's crazy if he thinks I'm going to be doing anything other than kissing up on you for the next two weeks."

Brittany grinned and pointed out onto the open road.

"Well lets get this super sexy week started."

Santana cranked up the radio and they took off down the road, fingers locked together.

A/N-Okay so Jason might be my favorite Non-Canon character to write ...like ever. He's so nice and a total dork. How do you guys feel about Brittana spending two whole weeks in a cabin gettin' their sweet lady lovin on? Hmmm? Well don't get tooo excited. Nothing in this Fic is ever that easy. There will be some pretty great stuff next chapter. If you didn't read my new bio update give it a look. Basically I'm going to try and finish up this fic and then move on to the others. I'm hoping that focusing my attention on one story at a time will get chapters up a little faster, but who knows. I am going back to school Monday so my updates will also be slowing down. I'll try to get one more out before I really have to buckle down and focus on school. Oh did I mention this fic will have a sequel? xoxox Grace.
