Oh god, this couldn't be happening. Not like this. She wasn't ready to tell him yet. She needed more time.

With her panic steadily rising, Bonnie's first impulse was to lie which was so ridiculous because Damon literally had the evidence right in the palm of his hand.

He stood, holding up the sonogram. "Bonnie, are you pregnant?" He repeated. His voice stunned.

Even with the proof in his hand, Damon just needed for her to say it aloud.

The look on his face made her tell the truth. "Yes." She answered softly.

He looked back down at the sonogram, for the life of him not being able to make out what was what, but he knew somewhere in this black and white image was a baby.

Dragging his eyes away from the image, he looked at Bonnie. His fucking heart pounding in his chest like he'd just run a marathon.

Is it..." He cleared his throat. "Is it mine?"

Bonnie felt a twinge of hurt that he'd even form his mouth to ask that of her.

Damon was the only man she'd ever been with. Yes she was seeing Jax, but they hadn't taken that step yet because in spite of everything she still had feelings for Damon.

They just wouldn't go away.

Swallowing hard, she held herself and told him what he wanted to know. "Yes, this baby is yours."

Knowing that Bonnie would never lie to him about something like this, Damon couldn't believe that he was going to be a father.

Stunned to his very core by the sudden turn of events, he ran a hand throw his hair. He honestly had no words.

He was silent for so long that it became deafening, filling the room.

Tears pricked Bonnie's eyes. "I'm sorry." She said, hanging her head. "I swear I didn't mean for any of this to happen and I don't expect anything from you Damon...I really don't. I will raise this child on my own and you can be free to live your life."

Her words penetrated through the many, swirling thoughts in his head and he realized what she was doing. She was letting him off the hook. She was giving him a way out.

But the thing was, Damon wasn't so sure if he wanted a way out.

He finally spoke. "So that's it...you've made up your mind and I don't get a say at all?"'

Bonnie raised her head in surprise.

Wiping the tears from underneath her eyes, she sniffed softly. "I don't want to mess up your life, Damon. I'm trying to do the right thing.

"So you think me not being apart of my child's life is the right thing to do?" He asked in disbelief.

"But I thought...I thought that's what you'd want." She said looking confused.

He shook his head. "Well it's not Bonnie, not at all."

Now she was the one to grow silent.

Crossing the room to her, Damon reached out to touch Bonnie's face. "This is my baby too. Don't push me away."

She sadly looked up at him, shaking her head. "That's not what I was trying to do."

After a moment, Damon nodded his head.

It didn't matter to him how this happened. He and Bonnie had created a life.

It changed everything.

"So what's he going to do?" Lacey asked later on that night.

"We didn't get that far into the conversation...I think he was still trying to process things."

"I'm sure." The model said, scoffing.

"Lacey don't, please. All that matters is that Damon's going to be apart of this baby's life."

"And what about you?" She asked, her eyes sharpening upon Bonnie.

Bonnie lowered her eyes. "This isn't about me."

"Like hell!" Lacey gasped, astonished by her words. "Bonnie, don't you dare play the fucking martyr here. Yeah you fucked up, but that doesn't mean what you want in all of this don't matter."

Lifting her eyes, Bonnie said otherwise. "Yes it does."

The guilt of her actions had been weighing Bonnie down for days. She was drowning in it.

"No it doesn't." Lacey replied determinedly, trying to get through to her friend.

Bonnie didn't say anything more.

The next day, Bonnie came home from work to find Jax waiting outside her apartment.

Dressed in his customary baggy jeans, hoodie, leather jacket, and white sneakers, Bonnie felt like she hadn't seen him in forever when it was actually only a few days.

Neither of them spoke as she unlocked the door.

Seconds later, he was following her inside the loft with his hands in his pockets.

Taking off her coat, Bonnie tried to pull her thoughts together because she didn't know where to start.

Jax watched as she hung it up and then removed the scarf from her neck, placing it on the coat rack as well.

It felt like she was stalling.

"I'm a big boy Bonnie, so just spit out whatever it is that's had you avoiding me for days...I can handle it."

Bonnie's grip around the scarf tightened.

She closed her eyes taking a deep breath, too much of a coward to turn around and face him. "I'm pregnant Jax."

Utterly stunned, that truly was the absolute last thing he expected to hear her say.

Not wanting him to think she'd been seeing someone else while with him, she continued. "It happened before I met you. I just found out a few days ago. "

Just like with Damon, Jax was silent as he absorbed this.

After a few moments, he spoke. "Are you going to keep it?"

Dropping her hands from the coat rack, she forced herself to look at him. "Yes..."

Bringing his hand up to his mouth, he cleared his throat. "What about the father...does he know?"

Folding her arms underneath her breasts, she nodded. "He found out yesterday."

"So I guess this means the two of you are getting back together."

"It wasn't like that Jax." She said shaking her head. "It was a one night thing that just happened."

Surprisingly he looked relieved instead of disgust by her, which confused Bonnie.

He approached her, gently taking hold of her face in his hands. "Then nothing has to change between us."

"W-What?" She gasped softly, looking up at him with wide, disbelieving eyes.

This was not at all how she expected things to go once she told him.

But she knew once she told him who the father was, he would feel differently about things...about her.

And now was the time to tell him.

She shook her head. "Jax please, don't say anymore because... Damon's the father."

He visibly tensed.

"I swear it only happened once."

Now Jax knew why he couldn't stand the bastard. It all made sense now.

A look of determination crossed his face, his blue eyes boring into her. "It doesn't matter. Everything that happened before I came into your life is irrelevant. I mean it Bonnie, everything. I want to be with you." He paused for a brief moment, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. "I love you."

She gasped softly. No one had ever told her that before. Her eyes slowly watered as she searched his, seeing the truth of his words in them.

"And if you let me, I'll love this baby too." He said softly.

A tear rolled down her cheek.

He leaned down, kissing her lips.

Bonnie closed her eyes, her hands reaching up to grip his forearms as she tentatively kissed him back.

Bonnie found herself getting tired really easily now. She would take a nape and wake up a couple of hours later still wanting to sleep for a few more.

She was also still battling nausea.

The other day, Jax bought her a large box of saltine crackers and a case of ginger ale, after having looked it up on-line that this was really good for morning sickness.

Bonnie tried it and immediately called Jax to tell him the news. "It's working...the crackers and ginger ale are working! I actually feel better!"

He chuckled into the phone, happy. "I'm glad to here it."

"Oh god Jax, I feel so much better." She said relieved.

"Then how about dinner tonight? We'll go out, someplace nice."

"How about I make you dinner instead? Lacey's going out and we'll have the place to ourselves."

"Even better." He replied smiling.

"Great. I'll see you tonight." She said.

"I'm looking forward to it."

When they hung up, Jax couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

Bonnie yawned sleepily.

They'd just finished having dinner. Jax took the plate from her hand. "I got the dishes. You go rest." He said, leaning down to kiss her forehead.

"Thank you." She said yawning again. "Sorry."

He smiled down at her. She still looked so pretty even when exhausted.

Bonnie went to her bedroom, intending to read for a while and ended up falling asleep.

Jax had planned on staying with her, but he received a call and had to leave. So he gently woke her up, telling her to come lock the door.

"I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" He said, leaning down to kiss her lips. When he pulled back, a teasing smile played on his lips. "I guess there's no need to tell you to sleep tight, huh?"

Bonnie chuckled softly, playfully hitting his chest.

They said goodnight and he kissed her one last time before telling her to lock the door behind him.

Deciding to take a shower before she went to bed, Bonnie got undress going into the bathroom.

Not long after she got out, she received a text from Lacey saying she was spending the night at Danny's place.

Bonnie sighed, but no matter. She was about to go to sleep anyway.

Going into the bathroom once again, Bonnie was about to put her two day old curly hair up into a pineapple to keep the curls intact when she heard the doorbell.

Wondering who it could be as she walked to the door, she paused when she looked through the peephole and saw it was Damon.

She hadn't seen or talked to him in a few days.

She opened the door.

"Hi" He said.

"Hey."

"Can I come in?"

Bonnie moved back, allowing him to enter the loft.

The lighting in the hallway was bad, so she didn't notice his cheek at first. But now as Damon stood in the bright light of her living room, Bonnie could make out the imprint of a hand across his face.

Not even thinking about it, she drew closer, touching his cheek. "Oh my god, who hit you?"

"You can see it?" He asked.

"Yeah."

"Shit." He cussed.

"Damon, who slapped you?" She wanted to know.

He sighed. "Let's just say that Elena didn't take it too well when I called off the wedding."

Bonnie dropped her hand. "What...you called off the wedding?"

He nodded. "I couldn't marry her. Not now."

All the blood rushed to Bonnie's head, making her feel light-headed and it didn't help that Damon was watching her like a hawk, trying to gauge her reaction.

She slowly turned away from his penetrating blue gaze.

"Talk to me Bonnie. Tell me what you're thinking. Please."

She walked towards the kitchen, grasping the edge of the island for support.

She could feel it when he walked up behind her a few moments later.

Bonnie softly gasped in surprise when she felt his arms wrap around her waist.

And when he buried his face in the crock of her neck, she almost stopped breathing.

What was going on? Was she dreaming?

"I want us to raise our child together, Bonnie." He said so softly against her.

Her eyes closed.

"I want us to be a family."

Her body started to trembled as she began to cry in his arms.

"Will you marry me?"

Bonnie bowed her head, covering her face with her hands.

It was every dream come true to hear Damon say those words to her.

But it was all for the wrong reasons.

He didn't love her. He was doing this because she was carrying his child.

Despite everything that looked to be otherwise, Damon Salvatore was an old fashioned guy and having known him all of her life, Bonnie knew this.

He'd taken her virginity, which she knew he still felt guilty for doing and he'd gotten her pregnant.

So now he would do the right thing by marrying her.

And God help her, because she loved him so much, Bonnie was going to do it.
