Previously on Shadow Of The Wind Runner...

She stared at his form before she began jumping around. ''Wooohooo somebody thinks I'm sexy.''

''I never said that.''

And thus a silent awkward moment was brought to life.

Chapter 11: Gone to soon

Morning came the group returned to their journey hunting after the running demon, Lilith stood at the back of the group on top of Shadow who was now the size of a horse, her head hung low as her mind wandered elsewhere; She woke up to a burning sensation within her core and her heart felt ready to burst, her body was involved in waves of excruciating pain yet... no one seemed to noticed this.

Everyone was chatting away, speaking of their pups and the village, Sesshoumaru remained quiet as ever leading the group, a river stood ahead of them and the lord simply walked through it, the group following by, it was only knee high so they wouldn't stay wet for long.

Lilith found her eyes growing heavier by the second, her grip on Shadow's fur began to lose it's strength as she slowly began to tip to the side.

''...shadow...'' her voice came out raspy and in a low whisper, the running water and the birds chirping in the background blocked her frail voice from their ears but not the wolf's. He slowly turned his head to the side and noticed his owner's lack of color and difficulty breathing, her dull eyes and low strength, at first he attempted to straighten her on his back with the help of his furry muzzle but failed, and so, before she were to fall in the water, he turned back, the distance to the riverbed being much smaller.

Upon his arrival there, he noticed that the group kept on walking he whined a few times yet they didn't even flinch, he looked once more at his master before slowly and gently laying on the ground, ever so carefully so that Lilith would not fall to the ground. Eventually he gently pushed her onto the ground and curled up his body against hers to keep her warm, he could hear it, her heartbeat becoming further apart from one another. 'What's wrong?' was the only thought running across his mind, she was perfectly fine the other night, why now, why this, why her, he couldn't lose her, she was all he had, she was his and he was hers, they belonged to one another, she couldn't die, she can't die! He stood there for hours until night fell again, he warned off demons and killed the few that dared near her, he kept her safe, it was his duty.

The young wolf stared at Lilith until he could no longer sense a strong heartbeat, it was still there but it was ever so weak, like the fall of a feather. In an act of desperation Shadow shot his head upwards an onto the moonlit sky a long, sorrowful howl left his mouth as tears could be seen falling from his eyes, the birds all flew off and small animals hid. He kept on howling, over and over, in hope that something would alter, that a miracle would happen. Yet none came.

With the Gang...

Kagome was talking with Sango their children's worst tantrums while they crossed a river, only 10 to 15 minutes of walk out of the river and a large group of mild powerful demons lunged at them and a fierce battle began, by the time it was over the sun was setting Sango had a few cuts here and there while Inuyasha had a cut on his head, all in all they were fine until Kagome looked around to help with the wounds and there it was, someone was missing, not just someone, Lilith was, her friend.

''Lilith's not here!'' She quickly shouted, immediately getting the attention of the group.

''What do you mean she's not here, she was with us just a few moments ago!'' Her husband spat back.

''She probably just wandered off into the forest while we were fighting, someone must have attacked her and she ran, shadow's with her so she's safe.'' Miroku reasoned, which calmed Kagome down enough to allow Sesshoumaru to guide them into a clearing so that they could rest in.

Time passed by as the sun went down they had food being cooked and beds made, Sesshoumaru stood guard along Inuyasha while the other worked, the moon was high above the sky, if was so fascinating, it was full, and it was so bright the stars could not shine, the moon reigned the nightsky.

They were all relaxing when the heard an hollow, a howl for help, Kagome simply looked at her husband worry etched on her face, she immediately climbed onto Inuyasha's back as he ran off, Sesshoumaru leading the way while Miroku and Sango stood guard with Jaken and Ah-Un.

Shortly after, they arrived at the river they had crossed, and there, on the other side, lay Shadow, tears streaking his fur as her kept on trying to cuddle himself around Lilith even further, on a heartbeat they were both on top of them and there she was, no smell, no aura, no reaction, no heartbeat, no nothing...no life, Sesshoumaru picked up her limp body and stared at her peaceful face, as if she had fallen asleep without a care in the world to never wake up again, she was gone. Dead.

''No...no..nonononono... NO! She can't be dead! She's strong she wouldn't die!'' Kagome burst out with a cascade of tears as the emotions ran wildly through her body, Inuyasha held her close to him in order to give some comfort.

''J-just how...she was okay yesterday...How did this happen.'' He asked more to himself than anybody looking at her frail lifeless body, was it his fault? He should have know right? She was his lover's friend, the only one she had from her time, she was a part of his pack, he had a duty to keep her safe.

No more words were exchanged as Lord Sesshoumaru began walking back to camp with her limp form on his arms as he held her ever so carefully afraid to break the remains of her existence, Lilith's presence was so ephemeral yet he had grown used to it, regardless of what Inuyasha felt in duty towards the girl she was his pack not his brother's, at night he would go on strolls with her and her beast so check that the area was safe, despite the silence they grew to respect each other in those times, little to no words were exchanged, and now here he was wishing he could bring you back...wait, that's it!

Sesshoumaru stopped midway and lay Lilith on the ground before unsheathing Tensaiga and waiting for the demons of the underworld to appear yet none appeared...he was too late, and before his actions could be questioned again he led them all back to camp as silence and grief took over them.

When they arrived at camp Miroku and Sango were more than shocked to see her in such manner, worst part, she wasn't wounded or bruised she just...died. Sadness filled the air of the camp as Sesshoumaru moved to walk to his tree yet he choose to jump onto the highest and most well hid branch to stay away from the sight of the other, he sat crossed legged with his back against the wood, he sat her on his lamp, her delicate head resting on his shoulder, a small sigh escaped his mouth as he lay Tensaiga on top of her, a small tear escaped him, if her unforeseen death had caused such impact on his perfectly built up wall and he had only known her for such a short period of time, how would Rin's death affect him, that sweet innocent human child.

A pack member was gone, she was dead.

Utterly and completly gone, he would never hear a quirky jokes or childish attitude and he would never know the truth behing the Shadow runners and now, a running demon was left of the loose with barely any chances to kill it, yet what bothered him the most was that he didn't want to bare see the sun rise and Lilith not being there to marvel it with pure astonishment as she always did.

She was gone, forever.

He lost her.

My lovelies I'm going to bed it's 03:19, I wonder why I can only write efficiently at these late hours.

And I'm sorry if it's a little OOC, especially Sesshoumaru but I needed it, and if I were to write everything that happened in the time skips and all this would be a very large story plus there's a special thingy x3
