"My name is Four." Tobias spoke once all of the initiates had jumped, "I'm the transfer initiates teacher. I'll be training you for the big day. You all will follow me. The dauntless born will follow Ashley to your housing." Connor said his goodbyes to Olivia and I and walked to the other initiates in black. Tobias led us to our rooms first.
"These are your rooms. Bathrooms are in the back." Tobias said, we all looked around. 15 beds for the 12 transfers, there were 15 dauntless borns in our initiations, "the alarm is set for 6 am every morning during your initiation training, breakfast is at 7 am and we will begin stage one for initiation at 8 am sharp," Tobias looked at all of us as we walked around the room finding a bed to make our own. Olivia and I grab two beds in the corner, we didn't want to near the other initiates, mostly we wanted to be away from Jacob; the others don't bother us as of now.
"When you guys are ready, I'll take you and show you the rest of the compound, then we will go to dinner in the cafeteria, the rest of the evening is yours, lights out is at 12 am." Tobias said as he waited by the door for us. Olivia and I walked over to him as did the rest so we could finish our tour of the place.
Tobias showed us everything, it was amazing how big this place was and how different. I think I'll get used to living here. We walked to the cafeteria we were amazed how big it was, everyone from Dauntless was here right now having dinner. Tobias said goodbye to the group, not really acknowledging me. I knew why he didn't say anything to me, but it still hurt.
"Hey girls!" Connor's voice boomed loudly as he walked over to Olivia and me, "Let's go eat!" Connor led the way to an empty part of the table, He sat on one side as Olivia and I sat on the other. Connor started eating as soon as we sat down. In front of us were these weird meat circles, I wasn't familiar with this. We never had these in Abnegation.
"What is that?" I ask and look at Connor who was chowing down on his food. Olivia took one from the tray.
"A hamburger... They're amazing! The cake here is fantastic!" Connor smiled happily.
"We don't have them in Abnegation. We eat the plainest things there are." I say as I grab one to eat
I ate the burger, Connor was right, these things are amazing! As we ate, Connor told us about things he and other dauntless borns did for fun, I looked around the room and glanced over a few feet from us. Tobias and Tris sat a little ways away from us. Tris looked over at me and smiled a little. Tobias ignored me all during dinner.
"That'll be fun!" I looked over at Olivia, I had missed their conversation.
"What is?" I ask.
"Let's get tattoos!" Connor says and stands.
"But we should go shopping first! We need new clothes!" Olivia chimed in looking at her erudite clothes and my grey jeans and tank top.
"Fine let's go!" Connor agreed as Olivia and I quickly get up and follow him out. We passed by Tobias and Tris but I said nothing to them. I did not want anything to worsen my good mood. Connor stood in between Olivia and me and talked all about his life growing up in dauntless. I envied him so much. His childhood sounded much better than mine, then again, everyone's childhood was better than the one Tobias and I had.
Connor led us to the stores in dauntless. All initiates were able to get a card with some money on it when we buy are first set of clothes. Olivia loved the amount of clothes they had. She went crazy looking at skinny jeans and shirts.
"Lizzie, try this on! "She runs over to where Connor and I stood in the front of the store. You'll look amazing!" she grabbed my hand and pulled me to the back of the store where the dressing rooms were.
I changed quickly and walked out, I didn't glance at the mirror, and it was something I was not used to. "Oh my gosh Lizzie! You look great!" Olivia exclaimed at me and walked over. She fixed my curls and forced me to look at the mirror. Staring into the mirror I was amazed about how different I looked. In Abnegation, all of our clothes were loose and baggy, that was the modest way of dressing according to the faction. However in Dauntless black, everything was showing, the skinny jeans showed my curves and my tank top was tight fighting and showed a bit of cleavage, my hair fell in waves down my back. For the first time in my life, I felt pretty.
"You need to wear that out; I'll do your make up as well, after I change!" Olivia walked off again leaving me in front of the mirror. Connor walked to the back of the store to meet us, he looked over at me and he stopped walking and started staring.
"What? Do I look bad? Is it too much?" I walk over to him, I suddenly felt small compared to him. My 5'3 frame didn't help either.
Connor shook his head and looked at the floor. "No, no, you look, beautiful." He looked over at me, "I..uh... I'll be in the front, tell Olivia to hurry up please." he hurried away.
Olivia came out quickly from her dressing room, she was in black skinny jeans like me, but instead she had a short sleeved black shirt. "I'm ready! we just have to get some make up. I'm sure they'll let us wear this out. I'll meet you in the front with Connor. I think I can tell what make up will look good on you." she smiles at me and pushes me towards the front. I walked to the cashier and luckily they allowed me to wear it out, so I paid for it and walked out of the place where Connor was pacing in front of the place.
"Are you ok?" I ask. He didn't look at me.
"Fine." he mumbles and looks towards the shop where Olivia pays for her things and walks out.
"Okay." she smiles, let's go get tattoos!"
We eventually got to the tattoo parlor and immediately started looking at the stencils. Olivia and Connor were both talking to each other about ideas and where to put them. Nothing here caught my eye for a few minutes but I soon stumbled upon a butterfly stencil. I picked it up debating if this is the tattoo I would want.
"Butterflies are a symbol of transformation, they change so quickly from an ugly caterpillar to something beautiful and amazing." Olivia walked over to me.
"Thanks Nose." I smile and tease lightly and hold the stencil tighter, My father always called the Erudite members nose's because of how they know everything." This is the tattoo I want". I walk away from her and to one of the chairs. A women with Dark eyes and black hair walked over and sat down in the artist's chair.
"I'm Tori, may I see the tattoo you picked out?" She holds out her hand and I give her to stencil, "Where do you want this?"
"My wrist. My name is Lizzie" I hold out my left arm towards her. I am left handed as well, I figured I would see that more then on my right. Tori started right away on my tattoo. Damn did that thing hurt! I didn't want to show that I was in any pain, I just stared at the ground until I felt someone's hand take my right hand. I look up to find Connor next to me holding it.
"You looked like you needed some support." He nods and looks around, still not looking me in the eye.
"Uhm, thanks." I nod as I watch Tori finish up the tattoo. 5 minutes later everything was done. I thanked her and walked away with Connor over to Olivia whose back tattoo was almost done as well.
"What did you get?" I ask.
"The Erudite symbol, I don't want to forget about my past and where I came from as I live my new life." Olivia stands when the artist was done. We paid for our tattoos and walked out. Before we were even 50 feet away from the Parlor, Tobias had walked over to us.
"Hello Four." Olivia and Connor said. I studied him carefully. Now he chooses to talk to me?
"Evening Connor, Olivia. May I take Lizzie from you? she'll be back at the room soon." Tobias glanced at Olivia and looked over at Connor who hadn't let go of my hand. Connor quickly pulls his hand away and looks down at me finally
"I'll see you tomorrow Lizzie." He walked over to Olivia and walked away.
"Follow me." Tobias nods and walks, leading me somewhere.
