Hello again, I'm here with chapter six and hopefully you like it and will keep reading all the way to the final chapter. The Sonic Chronicles

Chapter VI- Book I

Sonic's Point of View

After leaving the mental alyssum, Tails and I had split up to look for the chaos emeralds. So far, they were pretty spread out but they weren't necessarily hard to find. I had found two of them. The first one which was the cyan emerald, I found lying around at an antique shop which I bartered until I managed to get it for free.

The second emerald which was the red emerald I found in a birds nest lying on the ground. So they weren't hard to find, but there was no telling how far apart they are.

At the moment I was on a beach looking through shells and other items on the beach to find an emerald. Tails had given me some sort of tracker that picked up on out of the norm energy signals. So far I was heading in the right direction. The device began pinging louder and louder until I reached a mound of sand. The device made one long beep. I set it down and crossed my arms. Obviously it was below the sand but how far below was the real question.

Well, the only way to get down there was to dig. I tucked into Spin Dash form and drilled my way into the ground. About three minutes later I had struck something hard. I stopped and looked down to see a green emerald in the ground. Well, it seemed easier than I anticipated. I didn't quite know why but I couldn't shake this feeling that someone was following me. I stooped over to pick the emerald up but it began to sink into the sand. I tried grabbing it before it completely submerged but it was too late.

"Thanks for getting that for me" said a voice behind me.

When I turned, I saw a tall young male jackal. His fur was gleaming black and slicked however the part of him that caught me off guard was that he wore a similar coat that I had seen Frost with except his was lined with tan lines running along it. He had a smug look on his face.

"So you're the infamous Sonic the Hedgehog I've heard about recently. The master wanted me to eliminate you for some reason. He said something about you being an enemy to the EAI blah blah blah"

I was still at the part where he said EAI, what was that? What master was he talking about? I planned to ask him these things myself.

"So what is this "EAI" you speak of?"

"Right, you're an outsider. Normally I wouldn't be allowed to tell something like this to an outsider but since I'm here to eliminate you I guess I could spare a few painstaking minutes to explain it to you. The EAI or the Elemental Arts Institute is a place where kids with elemental abilities are trained to hone their abilities. We keep honing our abilities until we reach a certain age and become mentors to the younger children. The children are scouted out by spies living in the outside world and brought to the EAI" He breathed after explaining "So do you have any other questions?"

"Yes, who are you and who is your so call master? Why does any of this have to do with me?"

He pondered this and said.

"My name is Kane Cyberius and I come from a place not far from here called Krasa. My home was invaded by a neighboring country and I fled to the EAI with the help of my people. As for my master, his name is Master Auroro and he controls the EAI after the absence of the original owner Master Erezium. As for why this has anything to do with you, I don't know. I was just ordered to eliminate you and find my friends" He summed up "So if you don't mind, I'll just get rid of you and be on my way"

Kane snapped his fingers and small hands came out of the sand. They began coming toward me at a fast pace until one grabbed my leg. I kicked it and began running around Spin Dashing the hands until they turned back to the lifeless ground they came from. Kane gave me a look of interest.

"So you're a fighter I assume? Then this should be very interesting"

He withdrew a curved sword from behind his back. It was made of bronze and was engraved with different hieroglyphics. He pointed at me and smirk came across his face.

"Haven't had a real opponent who hasn't held back in years. This oughta' be fun"

He thrust his hand outward and waves upon waves of sand came rushing at me. I jumped over the first two but the third one pounded me and washed me back with so much momentum that the sand hit me with a loud SMACK. The waves kept piling on until only my head was above the surface. The waves stopped and Kane was standing above me on one knee. He shook his head grinning wildly.

"Huh, and here I thought you would put up some sort of fight. Guess I was wrong but oh well." He rose up his sword and hesitated. I saw the opportunity and jumped out of the sand and drilled him in the chest with a spin dash. Kane flew back into the ocean behind him with so much force that he looked like he was a rock bouncing on the water.

I saw a glint in the ground and saw that he had dropped the chaos emerald. I reached to pick it up but more of those hands kept coming after me. Faster than before, they grabbed my legs and pretty soon, I was wrapped in them. Kane stood at the edge of the water with a cocky grin. He was drenched and his hair covered his eyes.

"You know, that was fun actually. I haven't fought anybody as good as you in years" He laughed under his breath "Too bad I have to get rid of you now but…oh well I guess"

I held up my hand which caused him to look confused.

"Did you ever wonder why your master sent you out to kill me?" I asked hoping this would strike some sort of chord with him

As I hoped he began looking at the ground

"You're…evil I guess?" As though he were wondering himself "I don't know you tell me"

"Well one, I'm not evil. In fact, I'm the planet's biggest hero and for why exactly he wants me dead. I'm sure I can give a close guess"

Kane furrowed his brow and then shrugged. He put away his sword and said. "Alright smart guy, enlighten me"

I explained that his master might be doing the bidding of Eggman although Kane had no idea who he was. He told me that beside the time that he was young, he had never really experienced the outside world. No one in the EAI had is what he told me. After I finished, he simply shrugged his shoulders.

"Alright I believe you, I guess"

I was shocked, he believed me just like that? I didn't really believe it but at least it was enough to keep him from pummeling me.

"So you believe me? You aren't going to try to eliminate me?"

"No, unless you absolutely want me to do so. You gave me a legitimate reason for why I was sent to kill you and to be honest I don't think I would want a target on my head because I killed the world's biggest hero" He said "However, I do want to know this. Why would my master want to team up with this Eggman guy?"

It was really beyond me. Nothing was adding up other than this Master Auroro guy and Eggman had come to some sort of agreement. Then something dawned on me.

"Why were you trying to keep the chaos emerald away from me?" I asked

Kane looked at me as though I had dropped out of the sky. "Chaos who-now?" I showed him the emerald and finally he understood

"I was told at all costs to keep those away from you. I don't see why though, it's just a piece of jewelry" He said.

"This isn't a piece of jewelry" I told him "This is one of the seven chaos emeralds that have tons of power when all seven are brought together"

Kane simple nodded "So what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to put a stop to Eggman's plan once again. It becomes a routine after a while" I said triumphantly "And what about you?"

"Well surely my comrades don't know that they are being misled so I will talk to them. Hopefully they will see reason but I can't be sure. I also have to find Frost before he winds up in more trouble than he can handle" He said so grimly as though all of the fighting spirit I had seen in him earlier had died out.

Kane waved goodbye and told me he would be on his way. He also wished me the best of luck and I did likewise. Before he left I shouted to him.

"If you see Frost, tell him that he is making a big mistake and that Eggman cannot be trusted!" He nodded and called back

"Will do, and Sonic…I am putting lots of faith you so don't let me down!"

I nodded and with that we parted ways.

With four emeralds already in our grasp and Tails hopefully had collected some as well I was beginning to think that we had made too much of a deal about Eggman but I couldn't be sure and especially with this Auroro guy at his side there was no telling what could happen…

With a new ally and another chaos emerald, Sonic progresses on but trouble is assured to arise. Can Sonic arise to the occasion and can Kane convince the others at the E.A.I or everyone doubt him? Find out in Uprising!
