Sonic Chronicles
Book I-Chapter VIII
Grey's Point of View
So by now you a probably wondering where the hell am I? Well Frost hadn't given me clear instructions as to what to do when I had found all the shards I could find. So I assumed since that Dr...you know what I don't remember his name but for no I'll just say call him Doctor, but otherwise since he was at the E.A.I it would only seem logical to head back there. However the journey was long enough to allow me to have deep thoughts. I thought about a great number of things. Some of those thoughts I won't say aloud but I will mention this one. Frost's ambition. Since the day we met, it was made very clear that once he had a goal. He wouldn't stop until it was completed, even if it meant his own destruction. Why he does this, well...that is what made me stay on this topic in my mind so long. However if I had paid more attention versus keeping on the subject, I would have noticed the ambush that was waiting for me on the beach of the E.A.I area.
Too late however, I had been pinned to the ground by at least three E.A.I Agents, two of which I recognized. Shift and a female sparrow named Ela. the third I could not recognize, but this didn't matter at the time. Shift looked down out me and shook his head.
"And you are supposedly the smart one, however your actions contradict this" I smirked which caused him to cease grinning.
"If you were at my level of genius then you would know the reason why I did it"
"Look" said Ela, who took time to brush some the bronze feathers that made up her hair out of her face. "I don't mean to interrupt your oh-so-great reunion but we need to get going" She then glanced in my direction "Besides, I'm not going to be the one who has my butt handed to me if Master Auroro isn't pleased by our punctuality."
I turned toward Ela, I had always known her for a sarcastic type. It amused her to contradict others.
"Well, if it isn't Ela, the one who still couldn't beat me even with all the metal you use the protect yourself" She rolled her eyes at me.
"No matter how you spin it no longer matters. What is of importance is how you betrayed the E.A.I and are now considered an enemy"
That didn't work the way I had intended. So I decided to fall back on a plan b. I summoned a gust of wind which slowly and steadily became stronger. The three were having trouble keeping their balance. I took this opportunity to free myself. I kicked the other Agent who still I have no idea what is named was. I stopped the gust while Shift and Ela took a fighting position. This is the tricky part, the other agent was out cold so he wouldn't be a problem but Ela and Shift were no joke. Shift has Chrono kinesis, which meant he had control over space-time continuum. Ela was a Ferro kinetic, which went back to my remark of her using metal to protect herself. Any form of metal on the periodic table was at her disposal.
I guess this is where you could say I was done for. However I knew both of their weakness'. Guess those sparing sessions that we would have actually would pay off.
"I assume she isn't going quietly" Shift muttered, He was the first to make a move he drew his weapon. A long, sleek crossbow with a bright red glow to it. He fired one arrow to start however it wasn't aimed at me.
It struck the sand a full two meters behind me and disintegrated. The area around it began to distort. I knew exactly what he was trying to do and the problem was I didn't have a way to counteract this. I began to fell a tugging sensation. I did my best to keep my ground but the sand wasn't helping. Ela finally contributed; she coated her wings in bronze , She charged and began slashing and me wildly. I dodged her moves with great effort. However she managed to cut me across the forearm. With that I lost my balance and was then pulled in. I had one last idea, I summoned a tempest to push me away from the black hole. Luckily it worked, a bit too well. The black hole closed and the wind shot me forward at the speed of a bullet. I pulled out Dust and began spinning. Ela held up her wings in a defensive position and blocked the attack. However Shift wasn't so lucky. he attempted to back away but was slashed in the calf trying. He crumpled to the ground in agony holding his leg. Shift then picked up his crossbow. The arrow was glowing white this time. He shot it, however it was moving at a higher velocity. I ducked only to see Ela get hit in the shoulder with it. She fell backwards yelled something barely audible. I stood up and surveyed the scene. Shift-not likely to get up. Ela- to busy muttering swears to get up. I brushed off the sand and came to a conclusion. One that I to this day am not sure was necessarily a good one. I decided to help them. I picked up Ela, much to her surprise, and started applying bandages to her shoulder. I then moved to Shift and helped him. However he still seemed to give me a cold look. Ela was the first to speak.
"Why did you help, at this point we are trying to beat you into submission and yet you chose to help us?"
"Because I know you don't want to. At least not you Ela, Shift though" I turned to face him "I know you are doing this for your own gain"
He folded his arms though
"Huh...took you long enough to figure it out"
Ela looked shocked, she then raised her hands motioning for us both to stop.
"Wait, so wait is this "gain" for?"
"Ela, did Master Auroro give this order to you directly?"
She shook her head which was the exact response I was hoping for.
"Shift here is plotting against the E.A.I and..."
"Let me stop you, hasn't ever occurred to you that there are too many things left unanswered here? I want answers and so do you and don't tell me you don't"
"I do, but I wouldn't turn against the place that raised us!" Ela shouted
She followed up by holding out her wing and coating it in steel. She then gave him a death stare and said slowly.
"Leave. Now"
Shift next created another portal in his hands and disappeared but not before yelling
"You both will regret your decisions!"
Ela hung her head. "Grey, I don't know what to think anymore"
I honestly sympathized with her. I patted her shoulder.
"Come with me, I'm helping Frost with something which is why we left for a while."
She looked at me a smiled
"Thanks" She muttered
Although Shift's words did have an effect. I was not sure if I was truly on the correct side of this conflict. However even if I was doing the wrong thing. I would back up my friend because that is what we do for each other right?
Grey has managed to bring a new ally into the cause but has also created a new enemy for herself and for Frost. However two sides have been already formed. Who is the right and who is the wrong in this battle? Find out in Corruption!
