Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. The only thing I own is the plot, the OC's you will be introduced to throughout this book, and on occasion Oliver Wood, Fred and George Weasley because they're just so hot! All known characters, that are not OC's belong to the wonderful woman J.K Rowling!
Hi everyone! I know it has been a very long time since I updated, I had a little bit of writer's block, but thank god it's all gone! This chapter doesn't really have that much happen in it, just one major thing between two characters! Not telling! You're going to have to read the story! But yes, this chapter is most likely a filler, until we get to the exciting stuff! So read on and enjoy! Again, sorry for taking so long with this chapter!
OLIVER
I had always believed in magic, but I had never believed in angels. I know that it's far-fetched of me; to compare a first year to an angel, but to be honest she deserved it in my own opinion. She had long, blonde wavy hair that went down to the small of her back, blue eyes the colour of the sea. She had a golden, healthy tan, from days spent running around in fields littered with dandelions. She had a small yet dainty figure, not nearly an hourglass figure, but it suited her nonetheless.
The girl that had captured my attention was none other than my new best friend, Savannah Chambers. I had sworn to myself that I wouldn't have anything to do with the Chambers after the incident with Christian and Eleanor, but I couldn't help it. I was drawn to her from the moment I had met her in Diagon Alley. I had promised myself that I wouldn't get caught up in any drama caused by Christian, but I couldn't stay away from her.
I was interrupted from my thoughts, by the one person that was plaguing my mind.
"Hey Ollie!" She greeted warmly, as she slid onto the seat next to me.
"Morning Vannah," I greeted back with a smile, as she piled bacon and scrambled eggs onto her gold plate. The Great Hall was bustling with cheerful students, and mindless chatter, as owls flew into the Great Hall, dropping parcels and letters left right and centre. One landed in front of Vannah, and her face lit up with a pearly white smile. I felt the incoming drama before I could see it. It was no surprise to anyone that something had happened between Vannah and Fred, and that she wasn't happy about it. I looked over my shoulder to see George standing angrily behind a very nervous looking Fred.
"Savannah?" He asked. She looked up from shovelling scrambled eggs into her mouth, to glare up at him.
"What do you want?" She spat after she swallowed. Fred shuffled on his feet, and took a nervous gulp. He tried to take a step back, but George pushed him forward.
"Savannah, I just wanted to say that I was sorry. I didn't mean to make you upset. It's just, I see you as a little sister, and I don't want you to get hurt, I'm only trying to protect you Savy-Pie. Please forgive me," he practically whispered, as his brown eyes, bore into her blue ones. She just continued to eat her eggs. "I'm sorry," he apologised again. I could see that he really meant it, so why wasn't she forgiving him? Sav swallowed, and looked up at Fred, with the piercing Chambers glare.
"It's not me you have to apologise to Fred," she replied, as she nudged her head in my direction. Me? Why did Fred have to apologise to me?
"I'm sorry Oliver. I'm sorry for saying that you were just using her to get back at Christian. I'm sorry for saying that you were just using her for arm candy. I'm sorry that I called you a dirty-minded git, and I'm sorry for trying to come between you and Sav," he apologised. I just blinked. He really thought that?
"You really thought that I would use Sav to get back at Christian Fred?" I asked, as I cocked my head to the side. Fred shuffled nervously on his feet, and reluctantly nodded his head.
"Fred, Christian hurt my sister, yes, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stoop to his level. Vannah is one of my best friends, and yes she was hurt because of something you did, but she wouldn't tell me, and now I know the truth. So I forgive you, and I hope that we can all continue to be friends." I could see George sigh in absolute relief, and even Fred looked reassured. I then turned to see Sav looking at both Fred and I with a happiness I didn't even know existed.
"I forgive you Freddy!" She cried, as she stood up from the seat she was sitting on and flung her arms around his neck. He looked shocked for a second, but then wrapped his arms around her waist, lifted her up into the air and twirled her around in a circle. He set her down, and she pulled away. "It's good to have you back Freddie," she whispered.
"It's good to have you back to Savy-Pie," he smiled, as he still had his hand rested on the small of her back.
"It's good to have you back too Freddy," she whispered, as she buried her head in the side of his neck. Then I felt something that I had never felt before. It was like a searing pain in the pit of my stomach, that I was only feeling now. What was this? It couldn't be, no, jealousy? Why would I be jealous? It's not like I'm in a relationship with Vannah, and it's not like I want to be. I mean, she's young. She probably doesn't even know what a crush is. Argh, why was I acting like this?
I was interrupted from my musings, when Vannah sat down next to me, and Fred and George sat next to her. She placed a small dainty hand on mine, and looked me in the eyes. I couldn't help but look into her ice blue eyes, which were laced with concern.
"Are you ok Ollie?" She asked, as she skimmed her thumb over the back of my hand.
"Yeah Vannah, I'm ok." I replied as I pressed a light kiss to her temple. I heard a little cooing in the background, and an infuriating sigh, probably from Christian. Sav sighed, and rested her head on my shoulder, as she continued to push her scrambled eggs around on her plate. I ate a little bit of toast, before turning to Vannah, who was still yet to eat anything other than the two mouthfuls she had of scrambled eggs before.
"Come on Vannah, you have to eat something. I don't want you fainting in the middle of History of Magic or Herbology." I placed a little bit of toast on her plate, and held a tiny bit of bacon in front of her mouth, to try and coax her to eat it.
"Ollie. I'm fine, calm down," she smiled, as she took a small nibble on the piece of bacon.
"The whole piece Vannah." I ordered, with a stern look. She looked at me with a look just as fierce, but in the end, she relented and took the piece I was holding in front of her blue eyes.
"Fine, I'll eat more," she huffed, and started to butter marmalade onto her toast.
"Thank you." I whispered, as I rested a hand on her knee, in a friendly manner. I removed it though when I saw the incoming danger. There was a lot of that this morning.
"Savannah," Christian started, looked over to me, and took a deep breathe. "Oliver," he greeted, in a somewhat civil manner, but hey, enjoy it while it lasts right?
"Are you here to attack my friends again Christian?" Vannah growled, as she glared daggers at her brother.
"No, I'm not. I'm actually here to apologise," he stated, with a slight grimace of the face. It was like apologising was something bad.
"Apologise? You?" Vannah asked in complete disbelief. She wasn't the only one that didn't believe Christian. Did he really believe that we were going to fall for his charade?
"Yes Nana," he replied sarcastically, as he rolled his eyes, and shifted his weight from foot to foot.
"I honestly don't believe you Christian, but I'm pretty sure you can see why I can't," she spat forcefully, as she turned back to her toast.
"Oliver, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything that I have ever done to you, I'm sorry for hurting Ellie and I'm sorry for hurting you. I hope you can forgive me." Christian apologised to me and incredibly, he actually sounded sincere. Sav choked on her toast, and pounded on the top of her chest. I hit her on the back lightly, as she swallowed the offending food, and took a sip of her pumpkin juice.
"You ok?" I asked Christian, with a suspicious eye.
"I'm feeling fine. Savannah is in your life now and that is something that I have to deal with. She wants to be your friend and you make her happy. So, truce?" Christian held out his hand for me to shake. I eyed it warily, but took his hand and shook it.
"Yeah, truce man." I replied, as I smiled at him. He smiled, and then wrapped an arm around Sav, giving her a hug from behind.
"I really am sorry Nana," he whispered, just loud enough for us to hear.
"I forgive you Christian," she began in a whisper, "but I promise you, if anything ever happens between you and Ollie again, there will be hell to pay, and I will never forgive you," she finished, as she turned back to her toast.
"I promise Nana," he promised, as he turned back to the Ravenclaw table. Vannah watched him go, and then turned back to me.
"What just happened?" She asked, as confusion laced her voice, and etched across her face.
"I have no idea," I replied, as I looked over to the Ravenclaw table and Christian, who was now laughing with all of his friends.
"What class do you have first up Vannah?" I asked, as I shovelled some scrambled eggs into my mouth.
"Well, since today is Tuesday, I have, History of Magic and Herbology," she replied, as she grabbed a few more pieces of bacon, away from Fred's sticky fingers.
"Hey!" Fred cried out in protest, as he tried to steal back a piece of bacon.
"Keep your cotton-pickers off my bacon Fred!" Vannah cried, as she bit a piece of bacon off and chewed it hurriedly.
"Students, it is time to head off to your first class of the day! Hurry now, you have ten minutes!" Professor McGonagall's voice rang out clearly in the Great Hall.
"Come on Vannah, I'll walk you." I stood up from where I was sitting, and grabbed both mine and Vannah's book bags.
"You don't have to carry my bag all the time Ollie," she laughed, as she stood up from the bench as well.
"I know, but I like doing it for you." I replied, as I gave a general smile in her direction. We walked down the aisle through Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables, and out the tall, double oak doors.
"What do you have this morning Ollie?" She asked me, as she practically skipped down the hallway. Looks like Christian's apology really did a number on her.
"Muggle Studies and Potions." I answered, as we got closer and closer to Professor Binns classroom.
"Oh, now who's the poor soul Ollie?" She laughed, and I knew that I would have to be careful about what I thought and about what I said. She was dangerous to be around, because knowing me, there would be more Vannah and not enough Hogwarts or magic.
"I'm pretty sure there will always be a poor soul when there is a Potion lesson with Professor Snape!" I laughed along easily, as we made it to Professor Binns classroom where her friends were waiting for her. I handed her book bag to her, leant down slightly and pressed a light chaste kiss to her cheek.
"I'll see you later Vannah, yeah?" I gave her a subtle wink before turning around and walking off down the hallway. I could have sworn I heard two delighted squeals and Vannah's irritated sigh. I smiled to myself, shook my head and turned the corner into another corridor.
"Go away Christian!" That voice made me halt in my steps. It was Scottish, irritated and what other people would easily call a melody. Eleanor.
"Not until you hear me out Ellie!" Christian reasoned. I stopped walking and pressed myself into the wall. I know it's wrong to eavesdrop, but I couldn't help myself! When it involves your sister and your new best friend's brother, who is also a bit of an idiot, you're pretty much entitled to it. Right?
"Don't call me that!" Ellie's annoyed screech could have been heard from the Quidditch pitch and that was saying something.
"Please, Eleanor, just listen to what I have to say! Five seconds that's all I'm asking for," he pleaded with her. Something was definitely up, but to be honest, I had no clue, but I did know I was going to find out.
"Fine, talk," she spat, as she turned to face him, her hip cocked to one side and her arms crossed defensively in front of her.
"I'm still in love with you Eleanor and I'm pretty sure I always will be. The Hufflepuff girl spiked my drink with a love potion. It wasn't the real me kissing her. I love you Ellie. I know that you will probably never love me again, but I needed you to know how I felt about you, so I don't regret not telling you. Could you possibly forgive me? Can we please go back to being friends?" Christian's desperate tone was enough to win over any girl, but I knew Ellie wouldn't fall that easily. Wait, hang on… He's still in love with her?
I slid down the wall, to sit on the marble, checkered floor. I buried my face in my hands, and ran them over my face and then into my hair, grabbing a few fistfuls and pulling until it hurt. What did I just witness? What did I just overhear? Oh Merlin, what if Vannah found out? She would surely tell Eleanor to stay away for her own good. This will just make everything worse.
"Just leave me alone, Christian!" Eleanor's voice broke, as I could practically hear the sobs at the back of her throat. She turned away from the offending teenage idiot and ran through the beautifully designed hallways and out into the courtyard. I stood up from my position on the floor and walked over to where Christian stood, as he watched Ellie run away from him.
"If you hurt her Christian, I swear to Merlin, you will not live to see another day. You've already put her through so much hurt, that if you so much as pluck a hair from her head, you're dead to all of us." I whispered. He jumped when I started to speak, rounded to face me and looked down at his feet, as if he was contemplating what I had just said.
"The same goes for Savannah, Wood. It might not seem like it, but she means the world to me and it hurts me when she is upset. But I knew, that if I hurt Eleanor once, that you would come after me. Not directly, but through something or someone that I cared about most. When you met Sav, I lost it. I tried everything to make her hate you, but I just couldn't do it. She always found a way around it and she always saw me as a bad guy. So I'm only telling you this once Wood. If you hurt her, I will not hesitate to kill you," he replied, as he looked me dead in the eye. Granted, a thirteen year old like myself should be scared shitless, but I wasn't going to let him scare me. I was going to stand my ground.
"I wouldn't dream of hurting Vannah, Christian and you know that." I replied with just as much calmness as him.
"I do now. Truce?" He asked, as he stuck out his hand.
"Truce." I replied, as I took his hand in mine and gave it a single shake. I dropped his hand, walked past him and made my way to Muggle Studies.
I walked into my classroom and sat down next to one of my really good friends, Michael Dashton.
"Hey Oliver," he whispered, as the teacher droned on and on about Muggles.
"Yeah Mike?" I asked, as I took down some notes here and there.
"We're all going down to the Quidditch pitch before dinner, you in?" He asked, as he doodled broomsticks on the sides of his parchment.
"Yeah, course. I just have to drop off my Transfiguration essay first, but I'll meet you guys down there." I replied, as I took down a few more notes.
"Apparently, there's going to be some Gryffindor girls down there to cheer on Johnson!" Mike exclaimed quietly, as he then proceeded to take down one note, then go back to doodling on the sides of his parchment.
I laughed quietly and shook my head from side to side.
"Only you Mike, only you." I whispered, as I dipped my quill in some ink.
"Geez, Oliver, I have no idea what you're talking about," he stated sarcastically, his little innocent game coming into what he called, "the play".
"I think I've already got my Gryffindor girl sorted, but thanks anyway." I smiled at the mere mention of Vannah. Wow, I know I'm thirteen and all, but I shouldn't be having these types of thoughts about a girl I just met, should I? No, most definitely not! It's just a best friend thing. What I'm feeling, I feelings for my best friend! No doubt about it!
"Pray tell, bro!" Mike exclaimed, his Australian accent becoming more clear on some of the pronunciations of his words.
"Her name is Savannah Chambers and she is beyond anything that you could ever possibly comprehend. I mean, she's funny, pretty and she's wicked good at standing up for herself. The only downside? Christian Chambers little sister." I sighed, as I rolled up the piece of parchment that I had been constantly writing on for the past fifty minutes.
"No way! You're friends with that little spitfire? Good luck!" Mike yelled, as he packed away his ink pot and quill. "She's got a mouth on that one, let me tell you!" He laughed, as he picked up his book bag and walked out into the aisle between all the desks.
"Gets a lot of use with all the insults she fires out towards Flint! You should have seen her the other day! Hasn't even been here a week, and she's already embarrassed him in front of our whole grade!" I cried, as I picked up my book bag and started to make my way towards the door. Mike and I walked out the door, but before I could even take another step, someone quite literally walked straight into me.
"Oops, sorry Oliver!" I looked down to see Vannah picking up a few of the books that she had dropped. "I wasn't looking where I was going. That would probably be a good idea right about now though, wouldn't it?" She stood up and shifted her weight from foot to foot nervously.
"Hey, calm down Vannah, it was an accident. I'll walk you down to Herbology." I took her book bag off her shoulder and ignored the looks I was getting from both her and Mike, took her by the hand and dragged her towards the courtyard.
"Are you feeling ok Ollie?" She asked, as she struggled to keep up with the pace that I had set. I looked back to her. Her long golden blonde hair, her sea blue eyes, her smile and her laugh and smiled myself.
"I'm fantastic." I laughed, as I continued to drag her down to Herbology. I think it's safe to say. I believe in angels.
