Chapter 16

AN: Next chapter woohoo, hurray I am updating quickly! I don't own GH, if I did there would be little Oliver and Mais running around everywhere :-).

-6 PM Monks POV-

John and I have been trying to find Tamaki for the last hour in this blasted theater and so far he is nowhere to be found.

Turing down the last corridor to the old section of the theater, I hear scratching coming from down the hall at first I think it could be Hanako since this the area of the theater that she tends to stay in. However the closer we get to the scratching noise the more it sounds like something rubbing up a rough surface.

"Hey John, do you hear that it sounds a lot like something rubbing back and forth on a rough wooden surface. Do you think we should check it out?"

John listens "Let's see what it could be, I don't remember Mai or Naru saying anything about it."

Turning the corner I come face to face with the most disgusting sight I have seen in a while it looked like someone tortured the poor boy.

"I guess we found Tamaki, it looks like this case just took a turn for the worst. We need to radio the others and call the police."

"I will call Naru to get him to come down here."

-Reg. POV-

Naru had reacted quickly once he heard the news from John about Tamaki. He contacted the local authorities and had Lin and Ayako make charms to protect his employees and the base. His main concern at the moment was Mai.

She currently was staring off into space like some apocalyptic zombie.

Masako and Gene were currently discussing options on how to proceed from here on out with the case, brainstorming on ways that they knew of handling a demon of this magnitude.

Lin had called Madoka, filling her and Yasu in on the current situation. Madoka would be a great asset from here on out since her specialty is demonology and occults. Madoka mentions to Lin that he should contact his Grandmother about this situation.

Monk is currently having a discussion with an old family friend on the issue at hand and any suggestions that he might have.

Mai having come back from the shock of just realizing that the demon was now a real threat got up to make tea as a form of calming herself down. Without think she moved to exit the safety of the base. Taking notice that Mai had decided to exit the base, Naru moved to follow the troublesome girl.

Gene taking notice of his brother leaving decided to keep a close tabs on him through their connection in case he was needed but at the moment there was a certain medium sitting in front of him and no offense but talking to her was infinitely more interesting then eves dropping on his emotionally stinted brother.

Masako was scared at the moment with the thoughts that kept running through her head with the reality that the group is facing. She had some experience with demons but for the most part she only dealt with spirits. That was her specialty and she wasn't entirely sure that she would be able to help in this situation.

As the hours passed the group had figured out one way to get rid of the demon but it would require everyone in the group and Lin's grandmother had warned that it would be extremely taxing on everyone and possible not completely destroy the demon but rather weaken it in to a state of hibernation until the group could find a way to open a portal hell and force the demon back in to it. When Lin had told her about the Fallen that Mai had mentioned his grandmother had got unusually quiet and said that she would have to do some further research. She would touch base with him later but that the team should try the spell that she had suggested.

-Mai POV-

I can feel my power again and I know Naru wants to keep me away from the theater while they perform the spell Lin's grandmother suggested but in my gut I have a feeling that this is going to come down to me and the beast man.

"Mai honey you should eat something we will be leaving soon and you look kind of pale." Ayako stated with motherly concern.

"I will eat; I was just lost in my thoughts." I replied with a smile and noticed that she gave me a heartfelt smile filled with caring. These people are my family and I love them all so much I cannot let any of them get hurt; I would rather sacrifice myself for the good of everyone here.

As if reading my thoughts Monk wrapped me in a tight hug. Rubbing the line between my brow, "Mai, don't worry about us we can handle this, if we couldn't we would have left at the beginning and told them the same thing we told the people at the Urdo Case."

Nodding I felt the tears starting to pool at the corners of my eyes. Hugging Monk close I let go of my fear and made myself believe that everything would ok.

A few minutes later I decided to have it out with Naru and convince him to let me stay for the spell.

"I don't see why you have to be so unfair about this Naru; I am just as much a part of this team as you or Lin."

Naru was rubbing the bridge of his nose clearly irritated with me and my persistence. "Mai, I have been over this a thousand times I don't want to take the chance that you get hurt. On top of that we don't know what would happen if you were to use your power. I will not willingly put you in harm's way I can't knowingly do that if you were to get seriously hurt I don't know how I would react."

Shocked I didn't know how to reply to that at first. It took me a minute to process how sincere he was about the issue and that it wasn't just a ploy to get me to stay away. "How do you think I feel Naru, everyone I love is going to be risking their lives and I am going to be stuck sitting in base watching from afar."

Glaring at her Naru coldly stated "I understand Mai but we will be prepared. It will make everyone feel better if you stay here in base with Masako, Madoka and Yasu. I don't want to hear anymore about this, if you can't accept my terms I will be forced to spend you for the time being and you can just go home!"

Crying "I can't believe you Oliver; I won't forgive you for this."

3 hours later in the old section of the theater.

-Naru's POV-

Everyone was getting in place we all knew our roles in this spell. The main spell caster would be Lin. He would channel energy from each of us to try and destroy the demon.

We were all standing in a circle, excluding Mai, Masako and Yasu. They of course were in base where it is safe. We had set up the cameras so that the event could be recorded.

Looking to my left "Lin you may now start since we have everyone here."

Nodding Lin proceeded to chant the spell. I channeled my power to my brother building just like we always do, however; I now we are going to have to push our bodies to the limit.

Ayako started her incantations, Father Brown started praying and Monk started his incantations.

The spiritual power in the room was over whelming then the beast appeared in the middle of us all.

The Beast Man was sneering at me when I heard him screech out like a bird "You think this little spell will stop me. I am not alone soon all of the Fallen will come after the cursed child and you will not be able to stop the prophesy, two pairs will die, the powers that be will soon be free."

Glaring at the Beast Man angrier than ever because I know what he is hinting at and there is no way in heaven or hell that I am going to let Mai die. As I reply to the demon in front of me I feel my powers triple in strength getting ready to launch all I have at this abomination. "You and your kind will NEVER have Mai!"

As I was saying this statement Lin finished the spell and I felt my energy leave my body. The last thing I heard before darkness over took my body was Lin yelling my name.

AN : CLIFF HANGER! Until next time.
