The final bell of the day took far too long. It was the day of the dance, and despite being portrayed as the mature, future defenders of society, they were currently teenagers, and little attention had been payed to anything that the professors had tried to say. Everyone fumbled out of their respective classes and back to whatever duties they had to do in order to prepare themselves for the event. Large clumps of students moved through the corridors in disorderly fashioned, but no one seemed to pay a piece of mind, including the heiress. And while she had seen her partner quite a bit during the day, they hadn't really exchanged any words outside of what was needed for their classwork. And to top it all off, they were both going alone.
And it's not because they weren't asked. Weiss had been asked on many different occasions, but she had politely declined every one of them. She knew that her partner had been asked as well, but she could only assume that she'd declined them as well due to the fact that her partner had mentioned going solo.
She eventually managed to find her way through the crowd and back to the hallway that lead to their hallway. With at least a couple hours left, she had all the time in the world to prepare herself. She had a dress ordered from a store in Atlas a week ago, a simple white dress that she believed would suit her just fine.
Ensuring that she knocked on the door before entering to prevent any awkward dressing situations, she entered the dark and empty dorm room, fumbling around with the light switch before flicking it on. She did notice signs of movement in the room, including loose, tossed objects thrown carelessly around the room, signifying that at least one of her teammates got here before she did. Quickly tidying her and her partners side of the dorm, she made her way over to her closet and inspected the dress she had commissioned.
The dress was of very high quality from one of her fathers most trusted tailors, from which the quality would be immediately evident to any onlooker the second they set eyes upon it. It was made from beautiful white and blue fabric, which was soft to both the touch and the eyes. Colored primarily white, with blue designs sewn in. Ending before her shoulder and resting against her collarbone, it dipped into a shallow groove beneath her neck with a closed back, showing a minimal amount of her pale skin. Forming an almost skintight seal against her sides as it continued down her body before frilling out towards the bottom.
Holding it in front of her for inspection, she examined it for any signs of creases. After several moments, she determined it to be in fine condition, and parted the door to their washroom, before quickly entering and shutting the door behind her. She examined herself in the mirror, looking over herself once more, examining her entire body from head to toe before quickly undressing and trying to slide into the tight fitting dress.
After about 5 minutes of flailing her limbs around trying to fit herself into the dress, already with both legs in and trying for her left arm, a sudden turning of the doorknob to their room startled her, causing her to spin around to ensure that it wasn't the bathroom door being opened. She could hear the sound of footsteps as the person made a straight b-line from the door to the washroom, giving her precious little time to react. As soon as she saw the doorknob begin to spin, she became aware of her condition. She tried to speak, but her voice refused to cooperate, manifesting instead as a small chirp, inaudible to the party on the other side of the door. Quickly lifting her arms to cover her indecent chest, the door opened, revealing a tuned out Ruby, blissfully aware of what she stepped into. As soon as she lifted her head however, revealing a bright beat red Weiss, she snapped back into her senses, her body freezing up, and the duo peered into each others eyes, as wide as pool balls. Several moments passed, both parties frozen in time, unsure of how to react. Eventually, Ruby jolted back to her senses, quickly apologizing and slamming the door with unnecessary force, focused simply on breaking the line of sight between her and her partner.
However, as the door suddenly slammed in front of her, she quickly stumbled back, but only with one leg, as the other one remained frozen by embarrassment. Her body immediately began slipping, head careening towards the white porcelain below. She quickly felt the pain on the back of her head as she impacted. Hard. Her hands had maintained their attempt at decency, failing to cushion her fall. Her vision jerked into darkness as panic nearly set in. Her partner evidently heard this, judging from the concerned shout of her name through the door. Her vision remained dark, streams of red jutting across the vast expanse of dark as the back of her head began to pulse.
"Weiss? Are you OK in there?" Came the question from the other side of the door, but she couldn't hear the sounds of hinges, so she assumed her partner was still on the other end.
"I think I'm OK. Just a little slip is all" she moaned as she began to sit up, blotches of her vision returning as she lifted an arm to grasp the back of her head and letting loose a moan of relief as her hand remained dry.
"Do you have something in there to cover yourself up?" Came another quick fire question from her partner, further increasing the blood flow to her head.
"O-o-of course I do! I was just caught by surprise is all!" She returned, trying to sound as angered as possible, instead her voice sounded more like a winded bird than an angry heiress. Each word came out much higher pitch than she intended, further adding to her embarrassment.
"Um, alright. Just come out when as soon as you can. I want to make sure you're OK" came the concerned voice of her partner before complete silence. She swore that she could hear the sound of the blood pulsing through her cheeks as she struggled to put on her underclothes. As she opened the door, she could see the same thing on the face of her partner. The red in her face provided close competition to the color of the cloak she wore. Her eyes locked on the door. She was seated on their bottom bunk, hands on her knees and staring at the washroom door.
The heiress could immediately see the smirk forming on her partners face as she exited the room, however, as she remembered her current state. Her dress was trailing behind her, her hair was disheveled, and her face remained as red as a beat. The white of her undergarments almost matched the color of her skin, causing her to once again lift her arms and cross her legs, causing her partner to begin to burst out laughing, falling backwards onto her bunk. Too embarrassed to speak, she waited for her partner to recover and beckon her over, causing her to approach cautiously toward her partner. Ruby pointed her finger to the sky and quickly twirled it around, beckoning her partner to spin around, to which she complied.
The black haired girl assisted her partner into her dress, carefully guiding both her arms into the slots in the dress before zipping it up in the back and seating her down on the floor in front of her, placing her back towards her and between her legs before getting to work on her hair, straightening it before braiding it up into her signature ponytail and helping her to her feet without a word being ushered. Several moments passed as Weiss got up and they looked into each others eyes, neither one certain of what to say.
It ended up being the younger girl who broke the silence.
"You look really pretty when you're smiling Weiss" said the younger girl with a smirk.
The heiress was used to hearing compliments such as this, but they were from men that either her father had set her up to meet with, or insincere ones from boys and girls in the hallways. A genuine smile and the sweeping of her bangs served as all the answer Ruby needed and she walked over to the closet, withdrawing her own dress and heading towards the bathroom door.
"Do you want any help getting that on Ruby?" The white haired girl asked as Ruby approached the door, wanting to return the help that her friend had offered her.
"Actually, I think I'm fine. I always had to get myself dressed. This is a piece of cake. I'll be out in a jiffy" She concluded in a chipper tone as she slipped inside the washroom, the door creaking closed behind her.
Several uneventful minutes passed as the heiress waited, before her partner exited the washroom, sporting the new dress that she had heard about from her partner not too long ago. It bore some resemblance to the one that she had wore years before, although the new one burst with much more vibrant reds and blacks. Her hair was let down in the same, regular fashion that she often sported, a small smile across her face. The two girls headed towards the entryway of their abode, and began slipping into their high heals for the occasion.
"So... Who are you going to the dance with Weiss? I saw all of those boys asking if you wanted to go with them. Was it that cute one from biology? Or maybe it was Neptune? I know you've seen him looking at you when you think he's not. It has to be him right?" The younger girl questioned as she stood up and wiggled around to test her balance.
"Actually, none of them. I turned them all down. I had someone in mind, but they never asked me, so I suppose I'm going alone. What about you? I remember you telling me you were going alone, but I thought that maybe you changed your mind?" The heiress returned, standing up with much more confidence, due to having spent much more time on high heels than her partner.
"Actually, I have a date with the punch bowl. He doesn't seem that bad though. He's always there, I always know where to find him, I don't have to worry about him concussing himself on the bathroom tiles." This was met with a very stern glance from her partner, who was really struggling to keep herself contained, but she managed. Ruby responded with a grin that stretched from ear to ear and two quick, nervous chuckles before opening the door and gesturing her partner out, following quickly in her footsteps and locking the door behind them, and setting off to wherever they wished.

Few quick questions: Does the writing still seem alright and 2: Are you guys happy with the pace that the story is going at? Is it too slow for you guys?
Anyways, have a great morning, day, evening or night and take it easy.
