Pride Goeth Before a Fall

Verse 1:

Mr. Darcy has chosen his defect well

Implacable Resentment

It cannot be laughed at

He walks here

And he walks there

Thinking himself so grand

Refrain:

But pride goeth before a fall

You may have more pounds per year than anyone I know

But putting yourself up above it all;

Means that you'll be thought disagreeable wherever you go.

Verse 2:

Mr. Darcy does not choose to dance

He stands around in a stupid manner

Mr. Darcy will not take that chance

He is high in his castle with his ancestral banner.

Verse 3:

Mr. Darcy contrives to write his lines so even

He mends his pens himself

And the lady who'd serve him goes on believing

She marvels at her brother's letters, as well
