Lily was in the library most of the next Saturday. She needed to work on her potions essay. She got up to get a book off the shelf and when she came back Scorpius Malfoy was sitting at her table.
"Hello, Scorpius, right?" She tried to play like she didn't remember his name.
"Yeah. I hope you don't mind, I prefer this part of the library." He hesitantly pulled his book out of his bag.
"No, it's fine." She sat down across from him with a small smile on her face. They studied mostly in quiet only speaking a couple of times about passing a book or if someone's quill rolled off the table.
This went on for a week before they felt comfortable enough to say something more. They slowly were getting to become friends. Of course, the more Lily got to know Scorpius, the more she was having feelings for him.
"So, did anything ever happen between you and Samantha?" He looked confused. "I saw her kiss you the night we meet."
"Oh um no." He ran his fingers through his hair. "I'm not really into girls that have a move. I mean, I like bold girls, but I've been told that she starts things that way and it's kind of a turn off."
Lily tried to hide her smirk. "That makes sense. Samantha isn't really all that close with my family. She's the only Weasley in generations to be in a house other than Gryffindor. Honestly, it's almost as if she was raised by my Aunt Lavender and not her mother. Lavender is her Godmother and not really my aunt, but"
"When you survive a war together it creates a bond like family." She nodded. "My dad says that about the Zabinis."
The next couple of weeks were awkward at the Gryffindor table. Lily was spending her time in the library with Scorpius and James spent as little time as possible around Emma. Emma spent her weeknights in the common room and her weekends with Blaise. To her surprise, he was willing to take things slow. He didn't pressure her to do anything at all. Since James wasn't talking to her though Emma found herself getting closer to Fred. He was slowly becoming her go to guy about anything and everything. He was like the older brother she never had.
She was just about to head up to her dorm to get ready for her date with Blaise when he stopped her.
"Hey Em, I have to cancel tonight. One of the Slytherin prefects can't do their rounds tonight and I have to take over."
Emma nodded. "Yeah of course." She smiled and he kissed her on her cheek and took off for the dungeons. She sighed. They still hadn't really defined their relationship, but she had made it very clear she had been cheated on before and only believed in dating one person at a time. She did worry though if it was normal for him to go this slow with a girl before.
Since she wasn't having a date with Blaise she figured she would go out to the lake. When she stepped out into the October air she smiled. Fred was skipping rocks on the lake. She walked over careful not to slip on the wet grass from the morning rainstorm they had.
"Hey Fred."
"Evening Em. Don't you have a date with Blaise?" He glanced at her then back to the lake.
"He had to cancel. I guess one of the Slytherin Prefects couldn't do their shift tonight so he has to cover." Fred grimaced. He knew who was on duty tonight and neither was a Slytherin. Blaise always made the schedule and the Slytherins were never working Friday and Saturday nights. Usually it was a Gryffindor and a Hufflepuff.
"Fred what was that face for?" Fred was facing away from her but she caught a glimpse at his face.
"Nothing Em don't worry about it." He shook his head and skipped another rock.
Emma crossed her arms over her chest. She then took one hand and pulled on his arm so he would face her. "Fredrick Arthur Weasley, don't lie to me."
Fred groaned at her. "Em you know I hate when people use my full name. It reminds me of my Grandma Molly when Jacob and I play a prank on Samantha."
"Then answer my question. Why did you make that face? What's wrong?" She gave him a very determined look.
He sighed. "The Slytherins are never scheduled for weekends. It's always a Gryffindor and a Hufflepuff." He hiked back up to the tree line away from the lake.
Emma followed him. "So, Blaise lied to me?"
"Look I don't want to get between you two, I just don't think that he's being truthful with you." Fred sat down against the tree.
"Well what else do you think about Blaise?" She sat down facing him. He put his hand over his mouth rubbing it like he didn't want to answer that question.
"Come on. You're the only person I know will tell me the truth."
He sighed again. "There is a rumor. You know I don't get into castle drama, but he's been seen with Ellie Montague on his duties." She looked like she didn't understand. "Oh, yeah I forgot you just started here this year. Ellie Montagne is also referred to Miss Broom closet, she's basically the slut of the castle."
"You don't think Blaise would cheat on me, do you?"
"You're asking a lot of questions I don't want to answer to day Em."
She smacked him on the shoulder. "Too bad answer them." She giggled
"I think you two haven't defined your relationship and that leaves it a bit open." Emma nodded.
The next morning Blaise was at breakfast before Emma. She hurried over and sat down next to him. "Hey can we talk in private?"
Deavanne looked between her brother and Emma. She knew Blaise had been hooking up with Ellie but it wasn't her place to tell Emma. Her loyalty was to her brother. "I have to go to the owlery anyway. I'll see you guys later." She quickly took off
"What's up beautiful?" He turned to give her his full undivided attention.
"I just wanted to be clear with you about something. I'm not dating anyone else and I would expect you to be the same. I'm not one to just date casually you know?" She felt a little awkward having this conversation.
"Of course, why would I be dating someone else?" He took a sip of his pumpkin juice.
"Well it's just heard a rumor that you have been seen with someone at night?"
"Yeah Ellie Montague. She's a prefect so sometimes we have rounds together. Did you happen to hear this from James Potter?"
"No actually why would you think that?"
"James and I have a bit of a history. A couple of years back we liked the same girl and she chose me. I worry there's a bit of a jealousy there."
She nodded. "Well I'll see you later then?" He nodded and kissed her lightly on the cheek. She got up and walked over to the Gryffindor table. Now she didn't know who to trust. Was the reason she only saw James during the day because he was jealous of her and Blaise? If so how did she feel about that? She missed James, but would he really stop hanging out with her because he was mad that she was dating Blaise?
Dun dun dun! Ok so we're moving along. Next chapter will feature the parents more, but next chapter more than likely will not be uploaded until Monday. I have a calculus test on Friday and as much as I love you guys and I love my stories, school is more important. Wish me luck!
