Chapter 4
Blaire Town
Eevee
When we arrived, we were all awed. All of us have never seen a poketown before and were curious to check it out. There were quaint little shops everywhere we looked, made with fine wood and tastefully decorated. The cottages were simply charming and the town square had a friendly vibe as we walked in. It had a fountain in the middle with a beautiful Articuno sculpture in the middle spraying water. The lights strung around the square were lit by Illumise and Volbeat at night and there were flower beds and benches all around the circumference of the square.
Everywhere you looked there were pokemon. Romantic-looking couples sat around the benches and pokemon window-shopped at the stores. In one corner of the square there was a stage with a Kricketune performing for a crowd of various pokemon. It was enchanting, and all of us wanted to check it out. Glass decreed that we could go explore but meet by the hotel near the square as soon as the sun went down.
I wandered off to the sweet shop and bakery, run by a Slurpuff with several Swirlix helping out. The store was several shades of pastel pink, blue, and yellow and the furniture was all candy-themed. But what caught my eye, or nose I should say, was the smells. The sugary smell of candy and pastries were amazing. I longed to taste one but Glass warned us not to waste our money. The Slurpuff caught me gazing longingly at the candy displays and said, "Honey, If you like our candy so much, why not buy some?"
"My sister told me not to spend my money." I replied.
"Oh, well, I guess I can offer some free samples. For good future business!" The Slurpuff winked at me. She handed me a bag of bite-sized Eevee treats that I was staring at. "Don't forget to tell your friends about this bakery!" I thanked her profusely and then she went to help a Ducklett who was buying some pokeblocks.
I went outside and sat on a bench to taste the treats. The bag was tied with a ribbon that listed the ingredients. The frosting was chocolate and the treat itself was sitrus berry flavored. Inside was the bakery's signature cotton candy cream, which was apparently a big deal in this town. For a moment I wondered what was the big deal was. Was the cream really all that good? Then I popped a pastry in my mouth and understood what the big deal was. It was like nothing I have ever tasted before. If I ate a cloud I imagine it would taste just like this. The cream was divine. The chocolate blended perfectly and the bread was soft and fluffy. I was floating.
I swallowed the last bit of pastry and came back to Blaire Town. I sighed. I wanted nothing more than to eat the rest of the treats but I also wanted to share these with my friends. If I ate one more treat, there wouldn't be enough to share with them, since there were exactly nine treats in the bag and I already ate one. I looked at the sun and noticed that it was going down. I better head to the hotel Glass said we would meet at.
I walked in with a bag of treats in my mouth. I saw my friends and sat down at their table. Strangely, Glass wasn't there yet. The triplets were there, along with Leafia and Night. "Hi guys!" I greeted them.
"Hey Eevee. Where's Glass, Nymph, and Wisp?" Night asked.
"I don't know." I replied.
"Hey what's that Eevee?" Bubbles questioned, noticing the bag of treats in my mouth.
"It's some snacks I wanted to share with you guys!" I handed them each a pastry.
"Didn't Glass say not to waste our money here?" Flare said skeptically. "Also isn't it strange there are exactly nine of them?"
"You're right..." Leafia pondered.
"Just try one! You will like it!" I said eagerly, pushing the bag of treats toward them. "They are free samples that the store owner gave me!" As I did so, Wisp, Nymph, and Glass walked through the door.
"Sorry we're late! We were window shopping and lost track of time!" Nymph apologized.
"I had to go out and drag those two back hereā¦" Glass sighed.
"You're just in time! Eevee was about to share these yummy samples with us!" Jolt exclaimed with glee.
"Yay! I love samples!" Nymph exclaimed.
"Are you sure these are safe, Eevee?" Glass eyed the treats suspiciously.
"Absolutely! I ate one earlier!" I protested.
"You ate a treat without checking with me first?" Glass's voice was as cold as ice, meaning that a lecture storm was coming. Sure enough, it came. "It could be dangerous! It could be poisoned! You could have died!" she yelled. "Next time you have to check with me before eating anything!"
After the storm died down, which took a while, Bubbles said, "Can we just eat them now?" Glass agreed after inspecting it and we all grabbed a treat and popped it in our mouths. As they ate, I felt a peculiar feeling coming over my body. It felt like my systems were shutting down or something, prohibiting my ability to move. Then I knew. I was paralyzed! The treats were a trap!
