Chapter 6
The Mantle Is Passed
Justin agreed since he trusted her. M'gann started work. No one disturbed. Jamie had fallen asleep again once he was back in his body. Kara was worried about her husband. Kara contacted Clark to offer to help. Clark agreed. Kara went to help her cousin. Leaving Justin alone with M'gann. Lois had offered to watch him as had Fox. M'gann didn't mind if they didn't interfere. Lois went to Gotham and Wayne Manor. Lois was in a bedroom writing an article trying to stay out of the way. It was noticed. The two supers worked non-stopped.
"If this takes us too long they may just snap out of it on their own." One said.
It was agreed. Of course it was unknown about Justin since M'gaan was through. It took a week and a day and Kara went to check on the trio and noticed something.
"Bruce?" Kara started.
Bruce looked, not knowing of their son. Kara sighed and let the trio out. Then she hugged Bruce. Bruce looked at her.
"You three have been under the affect of fear toxin for a week and a day." Kara said.
Bruce recalled.
"What about Justin?" He asked.
"Lan Jordon contacted M'gann and she came to Wayne manor to help him." Kara said.
Bruce sighed, knowing she meant Jamie Kent.
"He said he was doing it because he knew you wanted to and that since you couldn't..." Kara started.
Bruce nodded, wondering how treatments were being done since Justin was training as a duelist.
"They started on summer break before you three were being affected by fear toxin." Kara said.
"I think Clark and Lois are planing a birthday party now... had to reschedule what with the triplets and all."
Bruce understood. Being it was summer meant that Justin could aid Earth's other lanterns Or be with Young Justice.
"I think that the three are a bit small but beyond that healthy." Kara said.
Bruce nodded.
"So they may keep the babies until they are at the right weight. Not sure if the health insurance that the Daily Planet provides would cover this sort of thing." Kara said.
"Which is something Jamie might worry about. I heard he's looking for a summer job."
"And he doesn't want to go to Kent, Right?" Asked Bruce.
"Yeah... he's eighteen now... but, may not realize he was out during his birthday." Kara said.
Bruce agreed since their own son was now going on sixteen.
"So, Jamie may feel since they are his kids... that he needs to be able to take care of them on his own." Kara said.
Bruce agreed. Kara looked at Bruce.
"He created Justin's navi." Kara reminded.
"I know, I know..." Said Bruce.
Kara sighed.
"I doubt he gets paid much for that article which he can only write during school term." Kara said.
Bruce agreed. Kara was tempted to suggest that Bruce offer him a summer job. Of course there was a question of if Jamie would be allowed to finished at Duel Academy now that he was eighteen. Bruce knew. Jamie was sitting in his room going over somethings. He thought he'd locked his door. Jamie was looking over a bill he already got for the delivery.
'I don't want to ask dad. But, I haven't found a job yet and they want some money by the end of the end of the month and at this rate I won't have the money.' Jamie thought.
His door opened. Jamie looked over his shoulder.
"Kevin..." Jamie started.
Jamie looked worried. Kevin smirked. Of course the fact that He had a connection to a powerful family was forgotten.
"I thought I locked my door." Jamie said.
His desk was strewn with papers. Some were job applications and some were the hospital bill for the delivery.
"Seriously kid..." Said Kevin.
"I am eighteen now." Jamie reminded.
"And a dad of Triplets... gotta be able to support all five of us."
Kevin couldn't resist.
"I have until the end of the month to get the money together. But, I'd rather not ask mom and dad if I can help it. I can't always go to them for money." Jamie said.
"They'd want to help." Said Kevin.
"And dad probably heard that with his Super hearing since that was him that just came into the penthouse." Jamie said.
Kevin understood. Clark went to Jamie's room.
"Hey, dad." Jamie said.
Jamie looked stressed and wasn't looking at Clark. Kevin left them alone.
"Jamie..." Clark started.
"I wanted to handle it... their my kids..." Jamie started.
Jamie was trying to be so grown up despite the fact he only turned eighteen yesterday. Jamie hadn't opened his birthday presents yet.
"There's No shame in asking for help, son." Said Clark.
Jamie nodded. Jamie showed him the bill.
Clark shook his head with a grin while getting out his chequebook.
"Thanks dad." Jamie said.
Clark looked per amount. It was more then they paid when Jamie and Jaden were born but Jamie had triplets and not twins. Clark didn't mind. It was more then Jamie could have paid in a year with the school year only job he had with the Daily Planet. Jamie was paid per article anyway. Jamie sighed. Jamie wasn't sure where they'd stay since the penthouse was to small for a family of eight to live together. Tea rang the doorbell.
"That's Tea want me to get that, dad?" Jamie asked.
Clark did so.
"Mr. Kent..." Tea started.
Clark looked.
"I'm giving the Motou mansion to May and Jamie." Tea said.
Clark nodded, wondering where she would live.
"I'm going to go try and help Oliver through this... I lost my husband but, he lost two children." Tea said.
Clark nodded.
"Those two will need help with triplets." Tea said meaning May and Jamie.
Clark agreed, of course No one was aware What Was In Store for the bat-family.
"It's in NYC but, I'm sure you could handle that." Tea said meaning that Clark could manage a commute from NYC to Metropolis.
Clark nodded.
"It would be closer to Gotham." Tea said.
Clark knew.
"Dark and Lights do best close to each-other." Tea said.
"Tea, Justin had to be around The team... to heal." Said Clark.
"I know." Tea said.
Clark worried that the boy would turn into his father.
"I'm more worried about the affects of them being apart on Jamie." Tea said.
Clark agreed.
"Bad things happen when darks and light are separated to long." Tea said.
Clark nodded. Tea sighed.
"From what Yugi told me... being separated for seven years from Justin... the affect would still be there and make it easier for Jamie to fall to the darkness in him..." Tea said.
Clark switched to his super-suit and took flight. Tea sighed and wondered where Superman was going. Superman upped his speed. Tea sighed. They didn't realize what Superman was doing. Until it was too late. Superman found himself in a bleak future. Justin had been sent away by the guardians on a long mission. Earth's atmosphere was full of smoke. This confused him since he knew that the son of his friend-teammate and cousin wouldn't had allowed this. Superman heard fighting. He heard Kara's voice. She seemed to be arguing with Bruce. This was a rare if not unheard of thing to hear. Screams came from the planet. Hope had died in the sector.
"Kara we can't! He's killed all the super powers but you! If Clark was still around we might stand a chance! I don't know why the Guardians sent Justin away! It's been months and Jamie is going to kill everything on this planet! Then probably go on rest of the universe! I won't loss someone else I care about!" Bruce exclaimed.
"I don't like it anymore then you, Bruce! Justin Tried to convince them to call someone else..." Kara shot back.
"I don't want to lose you." Bruce said softly.
The batcomputer was showing Jamie standing in front of Nightwing.
"Will power died first." Bruce said meaning John Stewart.
A gust of wind was felt.
"Kara?" Started a familiar voice.
Bruce watched. It was known by other lanterns since rings either returned to Oa Or sought out successors. Jamie had destroy the entire planets food supply. Blood splatter and Jamie was covered with Nightwings blood as Nightwings body fell a hole through his chest.
"What happened?" A question came.
Kara looked.
"Clark..." Kara started.
Superman looked like he did when she last saw him.
"Clark, what happened? You just disappeared after Tea talked to you." Kara said.
Superman explained.
"Jamie destroyed the food supply." Bruce said.
A green streak flew in. Superman saw it.
"I hoped you could get him to stop. Connor wasn't killed but, was exposed to gold Kryptonite..." Bruce said.
Gold meant Connor was powerless. Superman nodded. It was unknown if he was lantern material. The ring was flying around Superman. It had made it's choice. Superman held out his hand. The ring went onto his hand and his suit changed. It would surprise few.
"Justin and Jamie... two half separated..." Bruce started.
"After Justin left Jamie started changing... robbing museums..."
"Bruce, you know what a stickler he is." Superman said.
"Jamie got worse and worse by the day. Justin is on a mission for the guardians. Has been months. I think Jamie was born as your son because they hoped your light would guide him keep him from going evil." Bruce said.
Bruce looked at Superman. It looked like Bruce was starving. Superman agreed.
"But what about Justin, being yours?" He asked, giving some rations.
"Maybe. Maybe you can get the guardians to listen." Bruce said.
"But, maybe better to return to your time and keep Justin from being sent away for months." Bruce said.
A lantern sat nearby. It was one left by John Stewart.
"Jamie don't!" Connor exclaimed which was heard by Superman and Kara.
Superman looked at the others.
"What is it?" Bruce asked.
"Jamie... Connor!" Said Superman.
"Go." Bruce said.
Superman did so. He found Jamie strangling Connor. Jamie was in the air and Connor's feet were off the ground. Connor tried to pull Jamie's hand from his throat but with no superpowers he didn't have the strength. But Superman got him free, looking disappointed. Connor was coughing.
"Dad?" Connor asked confused.
Superman then dealt with his youngest. Jamie looked cold at his father. Superman was more intense then he had Ever been in his life.
"It's useless you know. Because without light all that remains is darkness." Jamie said.
But the Light and hope still lived... A strong intense beam of green light shot forth But Not from Superman . It was different than the typical lantern's glow... Life was returning to the planet as if healing it. Hope had been dying do to Jamie turning evil. Jamie turned to the source. It was a certain Light And he wasn't too happy.
"I leave for a case And Yet you fall to pieces...Again... What Am I Going To Do With You?" Said an aged voice.
"Justin..." Superman started.
"Yeah, Kal, I Know already... Don't ride me..." Justin said as a certain power flowed through his ring.
"Just wasn't sure what to do. He killed people." Superman said.
"I Know That!" Justin said.
"This isn't set in stone though...I'm from the past. I'm not sure what the Guardians would want to do with him since he killed a Green Lantern... he killed the only mortal guardian that I know of..." Superman started.
"Kal, So... you know But Do Not tell... the third race; the fey is connected to the guardians..." Said Justin...
"I won't tell but if one mentions it I won't lie." Superman said.
"The ones connected are Oberon and his lost brothers..." Said Justin.
"So, Jamie, you and Oberon." Superman said.
Justin nodded.
"But I doubt there's recollection." He said.
"I need to get that Battery your dad has in the cave...It was John Stewards." Superman said.
"In This time..." Said Justin.
Superman nodded.
"I came here cause I heard Connor. Seems Jamie exposed him to gold kryptonite." Superman said.
This Justin was aware. Superman didn't know if Justin knew of the death of Nightwing at Jamie's hands. But Justin did.
"It looked fast though." Superman said.
Justin sighed.
"This Isn't set in stone... But Don't Not reveal." He advised.
Superman nodded and flew to the cave and got the lantern.
"I have to..." Superman started.
Justin nodded. Superman flew out and went back to the time he left arriving minutes after he left. Superman's GL uniform disappeared and he landed in his and Lois' room.
"Lois!" Superman called.
Lois came. A green lantern sat on Superman's bedside table. Superman looked at Lois. Lois looked worried. The green lantern uniform appeared on Superman. His looked different. Lois gasped. Superman sighed. Lois was shocked.
"I ended up in the future... can't tell you much of that time." Superman said.
Lois understood.
"But, I do need to talk to the guardians." Superman said.
Lois understood. Superman noticed the ring was glowing weakly so went to the lantern. Superman's eyes glowed green.
"In Brightest Day In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight, Let Those Who Worship Evils Might, Beware My Power Green Lanterns Light." Was heard and Superman was in his GL uniform.
He flew as a GL to Oa. He landed as Superman and went to find the guardians and bumped into John Stewart. The ring was on Superman's hand. John was curious. Superman sighed and the uniform seemed to change and his eyes glowed green. John was aware. Superman looked at his friend. John sighed.
"I could be considered a paradox. Since my ring exists in two places." Superman said.
Just then John's ring reacted. It was noticed.
"I got my ring in an alternate future I'll do everything in power to prevent." Superman said.
John's ring glowed due to Superman's. John's ring knew that Superman's ring was a future version of itself. John agreed.
"But, to do that Jamie and Justin can't be separated... not for long anyway. Jamie would literally go crazy and destroy the world... they were separated for months and he..." Superman started.
Superman looked at his friend looking like a deeply troubled man. John sighed.
"Clark... You know as well as I do how duty-bound the kid is." He reminded.
"Problem is separating them... Jamie said without light all that remains is darkness. They are each half a soul. One light one dark." Superman said.
"He turned evil. Willpower is strongest with Hope though right?" He asked meaning green lanterns were strongest with blue lanterns nearby.
John nodded. Of course there were Other lantern corps and Justin knew which boosted Green.
"I was hoping I could get the guardians to let those two work as a team." Superman said.
"Well right now Justin still kinda green... A Poozer as Kilowog calls rookies in a good way." Said John.
"Jamie is a new lantern." Superman reminded.
"If you saw him... You'd get it." Said John.
"I think for the universe they may have to do as I suggest." Superman said.
"Of course you're a guardian as well..."
John sighed.
"I normally wouldn't ask you to stick your neck out like this but..." Superman started.
John listened.
"If we don't Jamie will kill every super in the league, then the non supers one at a time. Jamie destroyed the whole planets food supply. In that reality he killed a green lantern." Superman said unsure of telling who.
"Hope died in the sector with Jamie's turn and Will in the sector died with the Green Lantern... died with you John."
John sighed.
"Jamie is already at a high risk from being separated as long as he was when I was in that coma." Superman said.
John was aware.
"In that time line Johnny was sent from the sector and they were separated months. Part of me is afraid how the Guardians would react to all this." Superman said.
John sighed. Superman sighed as well. No one was aware of what Justin was doing. Superman was at a loss.
"But, I doubt he'd be punished for a crime he hasn't committed."
It was agreed. Justin meanwhile was on Oa training. The GLs sensed a new lantern had arrived on Oa. One's hearing may have picked up on the conversation while he trained. With class over, this youngster went to look. Superman looked at Justin. Superman was in his Green Lantern uniform. Justin sighed.
"I'm Not Askin'." He said.
Superman sighed. Justin went to get to his assignment. Superman and John went to talk to the guardians. Justin was already before them. Superman and John waited. It was the type one would dread. Justin was being sent solo... Out of system. Superman looked at John.
"Wait a moment." John spoke up and approached the other guardians.
All looked.
"Sending him alone will be disastrous for the sector...possibly the galaxy." John said.
There was confusion.
"No matter How many times I tell that big-mouth..." Justin muttered.
"It's why Superman and I came to talk to you. Jamie and Justin must go on missions... long ones that can take months anyway together. Jamie will go mad... turn evil without him." John said.
"Jamie said without light all that remains is darkness." Superman spoke up still in a green lantern uniform.
It was met with question.
'Of course they Don't believe...' Justin thought, unknowingly broadcasting his thought to another corps' homeworld.
"I just came back from a reality where Justin was sent a way for months... Jamie he... went evil due to the distance and he caused deaths and probably would have moved on to the rest of the galaxy when he was done with Earth. It's because they are each one half of a soul." Superman said.
Justin muttered about full bloods talking too much.
"If they are made partners then all will be well. From my understanding Willpower is at it's strongest when working with Hope." Superman said.
It was agreed, especially by those who led the blue lanterns elsewhere in the cosmos. The guardians agreed to give the team-up a trial run. Justin sighed.
'Justin?' Came a faint voice to his head.
'Yeah?' Justin retorted.
'What's going on? I saw dad fly out...' Jamie started in thought.
Justin told what he knew.
'Want me to come to Oa?' Jamie asked.
'You guys Are Driving Me Nuts.' Justin said.
'Why?' Jamie asked going lantern and heading out.
'Hang on gotta charge.'
He went back to his lantern.
"In Fearful Day In Raging Night, With Strong Hearts Full Our Souls Ignite, When All Seems Lost In The War Of Light, Look To The Stars For Hope Burns Bright." Jamie said.
Then Jamie flew to Oa using both his own powers and the lantern which boasted his speed so he landed soon after next to Justin. Justin sighed, slightly annoyed.
"We are sending you on a mission together." John said speaking for the guardians.
'Not One Word.' Justin relayed to Jamie.
'Of what?' Jamie asked.
Justin was obliviously in bat-mode.
"Don't worry about the family your mom and I can help May with the twins." Superman said.
A star-sapphire died in sector 2814 and the ring choice a bearer. It choice Lois Lane. John wondered. Clark closed his eyes and focused on Lois.
"Star Sapphire..." Clark started.
John nodded. Justin was dating but the local press made it impossible.
"She's a Star-Sapphire now." Clark said.
"Will power, love, compassion and hope." John said.
"Looks like the house of El has all the positive spectrum covered."
Justin sighed.
"I was a red lantern once." Jamie said.
Justin grumbled.
"For like a few minutes." Jamie said.
Jamie sighed.
"But, Jera Jordan, an indigo lantern and Justin here got the ring off." Jamie said.
It was understood. Jamie glowed ready to go on the mission. Justin followed. The pair left on the mission in fact the joint mission of Jamie and Justin took half the time to complete this mission then the alternate future Justin had alone. Justin sighed. Jamie smiled as they returned to Oa to give their report. It was noticed that Justin was somewhat upbeat.
"Can we go home now?" Jamie asked.
"I got babies to get back to."
Justin nodded. Jamie smiled.
"Coming? I'm sure Bruce and Kara want to get you back."
Justin sped away.
'Catch Me If You Still Can!' he thought.
Jamie was a little faster than Justin using just his super powers. Justin was trying to outdo. Jamie would just speed-up when he was close to catching up. Jamie only slowed when he realized that if he went any faster he might time travel. Justin knew. Jamie stopped and looked at Justin. Justin smirked.
"Can't go that fast." Jamie said and noticed the watchtower.
As did Justin. Jamie flew to the watchtower. Superman was talking to the league about a mission they just returned from.
"Hi, dad." Jamie said coming up to them.
Justin followed. Superman hugged Jamie. Justin didn't see his folks at first. But, Justin was being hugged before he was aware of his mom. Justin looked. It was Kara hugging Justin.
"Mom!" Justin cried.
Jamie returned his dad's hug. Kara kept the hug up. Bruce smiled.
"I do have triplets to get home too." Jamie said.
Clark nodded.
"I think he's in trouble." He whisperingly joked.
Jamie smiled. Bruce ruffled Justin's hair.
"He is sixteen how would you feel in their position." Jamie whispered but it hadn't been an English whisper it had been Kryptonian.
Justin sighed, knowing he was probably in trouble.
"Jamie, you're slightly different." Clark said.
Jamie looked at Clark. Clark smiled.
"I should get home." Jamie said.
Jamie didn't know that while he was gone the family had moved to the Motou Mansion in New York. Clark explained.
"The Motou mansion?" Jamie asked.
"Tea gave you and May the Motou mansion before your dad ended up in the future for a bit." Bruce explained.
It was surprising.
"Tea moved in with Ollie so they could help each other." Bruce said.
It was understood.
"He did lose two kids I could only imagine how that feels." Jamie said.
"I don't want to but I can." He added.
There were sighs. Jamie sighed and left the watchtower and soon landed in the Motou mansion only to be tackled by Fiona. Jamie was in his blue-lantern's uniform.
'My love...' He reached out mentally to May with his ring.
May looked. Justin had yet found His counterpart.
'Fiona has me pinned in the courtyard.' Jamie mentally told May.
May whistled. Fiona went to May. Followed by Jamie.
"Hey." Jamie greeted before kissing May.
Jamie smiled at May when they broke for air.
"I missed you." Jamie said.
May smiled. Jamie kissed May again. May joined. A cry from one of the kids was heard. Jamie seemed to disappear but he had rushed to tend to the child. Fiona ran off and was soon standing by Jamie with his daughter. May followed and smiled. It was sweet. Jamie took care of all three kids at super speed.
IN THE WATCHTOWER
"Justin..." Bruce started.
Justin looked at his dad.
"I've been thinking since before you left... since the triplets were born actually." Bruce said.
"Dad, what's going on?" Justin asked.
"Well Jamie is a tech genius right?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah, why?" Justin retorted.
"One of the men in the R&D department in the New York Branch of Wayne Tech Enterprises retired yesterday." Bruce said.
"Hmm, he Did create Rocky when we were grade-schoolers..." said Justin.
'Hey Kent, interested in working for Us? Civilian-speaking of course.' He thought.
'Working for you how?' Jamie countered with.
'We have an opening in R & D due to a retiree.' Justin answered.
'I'll have to run it by May. But, we'll need an excuse with them to cover for if the blue lantern or Superboy are needed.' Jamie replied.
Justin relayed this to his father.
"I'll figure one out." Bruce replied with.
"May...Bruce offered me a job at the local branch in R&D told him I'd have to run it by you." Jamie said.
May smiled.
"What do you think?" Jamie asked.
"He may see you as family, despite his relationship with "Dad"." May said, meaning Clark.
Jamie nodded.
"Should I take the job?"
"Your choice." said May.
"I want to know what you think though." Jamie said.
"He Asked you." May said.
"I'd never agree without your say so." Jamie said.
"Jamie, quit being bullheaded, thinking you need my say-so..." said May.
"Not bullhead just considerate. Didn't want to make a decision like that with letting you have your piece." Jamie said.
May smirked.
'I'll take the job, Justin.' Jamie reported.
"He'll do it, I think that May gave a little push..." Justin said, snickering.
Superman sighed.
"May has her way!" Justin said with a laugh.
Superman nodded.
"I know Lois and I have been living with her for months at Motou mansion helping her with the triplets."
It was understood.
"I offered to hire them some help." Batman said.
It was understood.
"But that might not be as big a help for Supers as for the non powered." Batman said.
It was agreed. Batman smiled.
"I think there's a soft spot for my kid." Clark said.
"He's family Clark." Bruce said.
Clark teased. Batman rolled his eyes slightly. Clark smirked. Kara smiled. Justin snickered. Clark disappeared and reappeared with Lois. Lois was curious.
"Jamie's home." Clark said.
Lois sighed in relief.
"He's with the kids." Superman said changing to his Clark clothing.
Lois nodded. Clark smiled. Meanwhile Justin checked to see if help was needed. Jamie was trying to handle three kids but was finding it a little hard. It was especially hard with Fiona whining in the next room. Justin stopped by.
"Hey girl... What's wrong?" he cooed.
Fiona was in labor in fact.
'Justin?' Jamie thought sensing him.
"Easy..." Justin cooed.
'Fiona's with brood.' was said.
"May...Fiona is in labor." Jamie said.
May was surprised. Jamie looked at their sleeping triplets. Jamie wanted to be with his dog. May understood while Justin worked. Jamie went to Fiona's side. Soon she had six eggs. There was only one male garbeast Fiona was around on a regular basis and left alone with and that was Ace.
'Justin...' Jamie started.
'It's like with dogs and cats...mating by familial...' Justin said.
He wondered if history would repeat in a decade's time.
"Should I take them to the cave Fiona and her rookery set hatched in?" Jamie asked.
Justin agreed. Jamie opened a portal. Justin helped. They were met there by Oberon. Justin raised an eyebrow.
"He checks in on us almost daily." Jamie said.
Justin sighed. Jamie put down the egg he was carrying.
"Six..." said Justin.
'If history repeats you and Lenora will have three kids as well.' Jamie mentally told Justin.
"I only saw two when in the future... But that doesn't mean there wasn't another."
Justin understood.
"Maybe one was at the DA or YJ, or even a titan." Jamie said.
'Kent, quit telling... you'll cause a paradox...' Justin warned.
"Not really... Not with what I said yet. I would if I told their incarnation." Jamie said.
"I may ask J'onn the erase my memory of the future."
'Mean it, stop, just stop...' Justin said.
"I can't help it so I'm going to go see J'onn once the eggs are all here." Jamie said.
Justin agreed. Oberon helped move the eggs. Soon they were all in place Fiona laid down with them. Oberon snapped his fingers.
"The eggs will hatch in two years now. But Fiona doesn't look like she wants to leave them until then."
Jamie sigh and disappeared and reappeared beside J'onn. It was known.
"J'onn... I need you to erase my memory of the future." Jamie said.
J'onn did so. But something happened during the process. J'onn checked. It had caused J'onn to accidentally erase all of Jamie's memories. Jamie ran off and used a escape pod. He hadn't been alone in the escape pod. Jamie was found unconscious in the escape pod ten minutes later by his dad. Justin sensed this. But Jamie had been used in an experiment. Jamie was eight years old. A minute later Jamie was seven. Clark rushed him to J'onn. By the time J'onn stopped it Jamie was a newborn. Clark called Lois. Lois came.
"Jamie is a newborn." Clark said.
Lois gasped. Clark took Lois to J'onn. Jamie was screaming. Lois took the baby.
"What do you want to do?" Clark asked.
"Looks like he was used in an experiment... It locked him in this body. It looks like his memory is intact and Jamie's real consciousness is active. Well he'll age but it will sixty thousand years before he's even a minute older." J'onn informed.
"He needs us..." said Lois.
'Justin...' Jamie mentally started to say.
Jamie's green eyes opened. The first time Jamie was a newborn he couldn't handle formula and had to be breast feed.
'Can you come to my dad in the watchtower?' Jamie mentally asked.
"We need find him a wet nurse." Clark said.
Jamie kept crying due to hunger.
"You sure you want to do this? He'll be a newborn for 2,419,200,000 years. He's gonna outlive us." Clark said.
'Justin, I'm physical a newborn... Dad says it will be more than 2 billion years before I'm 28 days old.' Jamie told Justin mentally.
"But, where can we find a wet nurse quickly enough?" Lois asked.
"May pumps but she still feeds the triplets breast milk." Clark said.
'I'm hungry and can't handle formula.' Jamie said.
'If it'll be sixty thousand years before I age one minute means I won't be able to even lift my head for ten billion, three hundred and sixty-eight million years.' Jamie said mentally.
Clark took the small child. He was even small for a newborn. Jamie was very small and frail looking. Jamie was struggling to breathing a little. In fact Jamie stopped breathing. J'onn took Jamie and had to put a neonatal tracheotomy to but in his haste he forget the difference between the position of of the vocal cords in newborns vs adults. Justin and Lenore came. Justin saw the newborn.
"J'onn check the placement." He said.
J'onn did and found it had gone through the vocal cords. Justin aided, using x-ray vision. J'onn repositioned the tube.
'Justin...' Jamie started.
The only thing J'onn could do for Jamie was to wipe Jamie's memory and lock his consciousness to mature at the same rate as his body.
'Yeah?' Justin asked aloud.
Jamie looked like he had been born 2 months early. J'onn put Jamie into an incubator. Lenore whispered something to Justin. She told him she was pregnant.
'Hungry.' Jamie mentally told Justin.
"I see two choices." J'onn started putting a device that Clark had found with Jamie on the table.
"One I can wipe his memory and lock his consciousness to mature at the same rate as his body. Two I use this device on him and unlock him but it would regress him to a point before birth and would wipe his memory. With the first it would be more than five billion years before he comes out of that incubator."
'If I get a say...regress but I'd need a womb.' Jamie mentally told Justin.
Justin nodded with a smirk. He relayed Jamie's choice.
"I'll do it but you would have to regress him to a three day old embryo... that's the age of the one inside me." Lenore said.
A sample was taken and Jamie was soon in Lenore's womb.
"I altered Jamie's genes genetically speaking he will be the identical twin of Justin and Lenore's son or daughter genetically speaking of course. There child by blood." J'onn told Lois and Clark.
Lois nodded.
"Jamie is dead now." Lois said in tears.
Clark hugged Lois. A green glow came from Justin's ring and Green Lantern Lan appeared.
"Just watch out for May and the kids, dad." He requested of Superman.
Clark nodded.
"Mind having to call these two Dad and Mom?" He teased.
"Oh, shut it!" said Justin.
"I won't remember any different for sometime and I don't mind." Lan said.
"Our bond should be helpful."
It was understood.
"Tell Maylu I'm sorry. Hope may weaken a bit for a while. But maybe best to lie to May of my fate." Lan said as a blue light speed past.
There were sighs.
"She'll sense the ring left me. Died taking something into sun without my powers... Or something. Gotta explain no body." Lan said.
"Fiona doesn't know and her eggs won't hatch until we're two."
It was understood.
"Mom..." Lan started.
Lois looked.
"I'm sorry." Lan said.
Bruce flinched and collapsed.
"Bruce is having a heart attack alone in the batcave." Lan told.
Justin and Clark rushed to his aid. Lan told the ones that stayed with him that Bruce had heart problems since the terrific trio were exposed to fear toxin and under its affects after Yugi died. It was understood. They took him to the watchtower. J'onn helped. Eventually he told them that Bruce was going to need a cane for the rest of his life. Green Lantern Lan had disappeared when Bruce was brought in. Justin sighed, knowing that one day He'd don the cowl. Bruce was asleep when night fell in Gotham. Justin went on patrol. Lenore monitored. Bruce tried to get up but fell to the ground when he tried to get up without using a cane. J'onn helped him back on the bed.
"I have to..." Bruce tried to say.
"You have to let Robin take the cowl...you'll never be able to walk without a cane again, Bruce." J'onn said.
Justin was able to cover more ground.
"It's time..." J'onn added.
Bruce sighed and agreed.
