Spoilers: Love Run Cold

Lindsay: I can't do this, Danny. We can't do this. I can't be with you--not like that, I mean. I like you a…lot but there are some things you don't know--things I thought I had put behind me. I think maybe we should just do our jobs. Anything more between us is impossible.

She turned and walked away.

Lindsay's words reverberated in Danny's head as he watched her retreating back disappear down corridor. He tried to convince himself that it was all a bad dream, that the woman he had been crazy over for more than a year had not just slammed the door on any possibility of them ever exploring the smoldering chemistry that existed between them. But she had.

Danny could hear the clicking of her heels echoing off the tile floor, getting further and further away from him. He watched as Lindsay rounded the corner, nearly out of his sight. He screamed at his feet to move to go after her, but instead he shouted to her retreating back.

Danny: Give me one night, Lindsay!

He couldn't believe what he was proposing but he cared for Lindsay so much that he was willing to take her any way he could get her. Even if it meant she was his for only a night.

Lindsay stopped dead at his words. Had she heard him correctly? She turned around to face him.

He sidled up to her and rested his hand on her shoulder. He looked into her eyes, silently praying that she would agree and for one moment give in to what he knew they both wanted.

Lindsay: What did you say?

Danny: One night. Just one. After that, if you wanna walk away, okay, I won't stop ya. We'll go back to the way things were: friends and co-workers.

Lindsay: Danny, I don't think we should…

She was cut off as Danny placed his finger on her lips.

Danny: I do, Linds. I want to be with you and if one night is all we got, then I'll take it.

Lindsay: Okay.

Lindsay couldn't believe what was happening--that he was asking her this--especially after what had just transpired between them. But what was even more difficult for her to fathom was why she suddenly found herself saying yes. After all her posturing about not being ready to start a relationship with him, here she was agreeing to what Danny had asked for: one night. It could only be one night, as much as she wished it could be more.
