It was another sunny day in Canterlot City.
On this day, several people were gathering at Canterlot High, as it was a school day.
While some students were chatting and getting ready for classes, there was one person who wasn't entirely happy.
"Jo. Why do we have to go to school?" asked Michiru, who was in her human form, as she walked alongside Nazuna and Sunset.
"Well, Michiru, we talked about this last night, remember?" asked Sunset.
Flashback
Sunset and the three beastmen were having a quiet dinner.
"Hey, Sunset, you have class tomorrow, right?" asked Shirou.
"Yes, I do. Why do you ask?" asked Sunset.
"I thought you could take Michiru and Nazuna with you." said Shirou.
"What?" asked the three girls in unison.
"Wait, why do I have to go to school?" asked Michiru.
"For two reasons. First, you'll have something to do all day; and second, going to school is necessary for your education and you've been neglecting it." said Shirou.
"Well, it's true that we left the school when we transformed into beastmen and with everything that has happened, we didn't take that into account." said Nazuna.
"Actually, it sounds like a good idea to me. I can talk to Principal Celestia telling her that you are exchange students who are going to spend a few days here." said Sunset.
"Then, it's settled, tomorrow you will go to Canterlot High." said Shirou.
While Nazuna was happy with the idea of going to school again, Michiru was nervous, as the idea of going back to school didn't really appeal to her.
"I know it's because of my upbringing, but I haven't gone for so long that it already seems boring to me." said Michiru.
"Well that's not right, Michiru. Education is very important if you want to have a good future." said Nazuna.
"That's right. and this is coming from someone from another world, the classes here can be very interesting." said Sunset.
"If you say so." said Michiru with a sigh of defeat.
"So what should we do first?" asked Nazuna.
"The first thing would be to go see Principal Celestia to let her know of your arrival. And don't be nervous. She's a nice person actually." said Sunset.
The three girls were walking through the corridors, where Michiru and Nazuna saw several students talking or playing like when they had to move aside to let a girl who was riding a scooter at full speed pass.
Both beastmen girls couldn't help but notice that this high school was livelier than the one they were going to before everything that happened to them.
They kept walking until they reached the place they were looking for.
Sunset knocked on the door a couple of times to announce their arrival.
"Come in." said a woman from behind the door.
Sunset opened the door and the three of them walked into the office, where Michiru and Nazuna could see two women with long hair.
One had snow white skin as she sat at her desk and the other had skin as dark as night as she stood next to the first.
"Good morning Sunset. How may I serve you?" asked Celestia.
"You see, Principal Celestia, these are some friends I met on a trip and they have come to spend a few days in city. So I thought they could attend classes while they are here." said Sunset.
"I see, may I know their names?" asked Vice Principal Luna.
"I am Michiru Kagemori. Nice to meet you." said Michiru bowing in respect.
"I am Nazuna Hiwatashi. It's a pleasure." said Nazuna bowing as well.
"Likewise. Well, if you really want to attend the classes, I would just need your signature." said Celestia taking out a couple of papers.
"That's it? You'll accept us just like that?" asked Michiru with surprise.
"Of course. Here at Canterlot High, we accept all kinds of students." said Celestia.
"Even those who can become troublemakers." said Luna throwing an amused look at Sunset, who blushed slightly at the memory of how she used to be.
"Thank you so much for the opportunity, Principal. We won't let you down." said Nazuna as she and Michiru handed her the signed papers.
"I'm glad to hear that. Now go, in a little while, classes will start." said Celestia before the three girls left.
Shortly after that, the three of them met up with the rest of Mane 7, who were waiting by the lockers.
"How did it go?" asked Twilight.
"Very well. They're officially Canterlot High students." said Sunset.
"Hooray! New classmates!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie appearing behind the two beastmen girls and giving them a hug before pulling a small cannon out of her hair from which she shot lots of confetti.
"I keep wondering how something like that is possible." commented Nazuna.
"So what did you think of the principal?" asked Applejack.
"She was very nice. She reminded me a bit of Mayor Rose from Anima City." said Michiru.
"Uh... If it's not too much trouble, what animal is the mayoress?" asked Fluttershy.
"She's a naked mole rat. And she was also the first beastman to get a doctorate." said Nazuna.
"She was even the one who managed to develop the cure for our case." said Michiru.
"Wow. She's certainly a very smart woman. I'd like to meet her." said Twilight.
"God bring them up and they flock together." said Rainbow Dash receiving a scowl and a pout from the bespectacled girl, much to everyone's laughter.
"Well, girls, let's not waste time." said Sunset.
For the next few hours, Mane 7 and the two beastmen girls moved back and forth, going from class to class.
Most of the day's classes consisted of history, math, physics and chemistry.
Needless to say, Michiru felt bored with all those classes.
There were even times when she almost fell asleep, but she stayed awake as long as she didn't get caught and get in trouble on her first day.
After that, recess came and the group gathered in the music room.
"*Sigh* Finally. I thought classes would never end." said Michiru.
"Michiru, dear, it was only morning classes." said Rarity.
"And on top of that, you almost fell asleep in the middle of class." said Nazuna.
"Reminds me of Rainbow Dash." said Applejack.
"Hey, that only happens because I spend all night training." said Rainbow Dash.
"Or reading Daring Do books." said Twilight, causing the rainbow-haired girl to blush slightly, much to the amusement of the others.
"Hey, why have we gathered here?" asked Nazuna.
"Oh, well, this room is very special to us." said Fluttershy.
"Yes, this is where we have our team meetings and also where we form our band, the Rainbooms." said Pinkie Pie.
"I thought it was just a method to win the battle of the bands and beat those mermaids." said Michiru remembering what they were told about their past adventures.
"That's right, but we liked it so much that we decided to keep the gang." said Sunset.
"Sometimes, the principal asks us to play for some event. Or we even put on concerts to raise money or something." said Twilight.
"That's very nice." said Nazuna.
"Hey, why don't you let Nazuna join your band? She's good at singing and her dream is to become an idol." said Michiru.
"Really? I've seen videos of those idols and they look divine to me. Especially because of their fashion style." said Rarity.
"T-Thanks, but I haven't done anything like that in a while." said Nazuna with a slight blush of embarrassment.
"Well, it's okay to try." said Sunset.
"Right and if you do well, maybe we'll let you join." said Rainbow Dash.
"I'm sure you'll do fine." said Applejack.
"And I'll do it with you for support." said Michiru.
Nazuna smiled at the support from her best friend as well as her new friend.
"Okay." said Nazuna before getting up with Michiru and standing in front of the others.
Pinkie Pie suddenly appeared with two microphones which they took.
Both girls took a deep breath before they started singing.
(They are singing Running Night, the song they sing together in the anime).
Both beastmen sang softly, as if it was something normal for them with a harmonious voice.
Mane 7 sat still as they listened to the two sing, some even swayed to the music.
By the time the two finished singing, the others were clapping for them, even Pinkie Pie threw them a whistle.
"That was amazing!" said Twilight.
"Yes, I can tell you have the talent to be an idol." said Rarity.
"Thanks." said Nazuna with a smile.
"You know? In a few days, we're having a concert here at school. You could sing with us." said Sunset.
"Sounds like a good idea." said Applejack.
"With the two of them, we'll take the stage by storm." said Rainbow Dash.
"What do you say, Nazuna? It really sounds good." said Michiru.
"Well, okay. Since you're offering it to me..." said Nazuna.
Mane 7 burst into cheers as they saw that they had new members in their band.
After recess, they went back to classes and once again, Michiru was so bored that she almost fell asleep.
Then came lunchtime, where Michiru and Nazuna met some of the other Canterlot High students, including Flash Sentry, Sunset's old boyfriend, much to the girl's embarrassment.
Finally, classes were over.
"Finally. They're over." Michiru said stretching her arms.
"I remind you that we have to go back tomorrow." said Nazuna.
"I know and that's why I plan to enjoy the moment between now and tomorrow." said Michiru.
"Well said, Michiru. In fact, what do you say we take the opportunity to do that challenge we talked about?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"Oh, yeah. I almost forgot." said Michiru remembering the conversation they had at the mall.
"So, let's go to the gym. With classes over, there won't be anyone to bother." said Applejack.
"And we can get permission from the principal to use the school supplies." said Twilight.
"Okay, girls. Let's get to it." said Sunset.
Soon after, the group was in the gym, where Michiru and Rainbow Dash, wearing sports uniforms, stood on either side of the basketball court, with the rest of the Mane 7 and Nazuna sitting in the bleachers.
"I wonder who will win?" said Fluttershy.
"Maybe Rainbow Dash, since she's the most athletic of you all." said Spike.
"I wouldn't be so sure. When we were in school, Michiru was known for his basketball skills." said Nazuna.
"Then it will be an even match." said Rarity.
At that moment, Pinkie Pie appeared in the middle of the field with a referee's uniform and a ball.
"*Whistle whistle* All right. I want a clean game. No hitting, no kicking, no style points…" began Pinkie Pie.
"Style points?" asked the two players in unison.
"Oh, right. It's not that kind of match. So… Let the game begin!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie before blowing for the whistle and tossing the ball high in the air.
Rainbow Dash was the first to jump up and catch the ball.
She was running for a bit when Michiru got in her way and Rainbow Dash bounced the ball as she tried to dodge it, but then, Michiru managed to steal the ball from her and go in the opposite direction.
Rainbow Dash tried to catch up, but Michiru managed to run faster than her and when the rainbow-haired girl was about to catch up, Michiru threw the ball and made a basket.
"*Whistle blows* Point for Michiru!" said Pinkie Pie.
"Wow. That's the first time they've scored Rainbow Dash first." said Applejack.
"I told you she was good." said Nazuna.
"I wonder how Rainbow Dash will react to it." said Sunset.
"It's okay. I admit it. You're good." said Rainbow Dash.
"Thanks." said Michiru.
"But just know…" started Rainbow Dash before giving her a smile with a narrowed gaze. "That this will be the last time you get it right."
"We'll see about that." said Michiru.
Pinkie Pie blew the whistle again before tossing the ball into the air.
This time, Michiru was the first to catch the ball before dodging an attack from Rainbow Dash and running towards the full basket.
When she was at the right distance, she proceeded to throw, but just as the ball was flying towards the basket, Rainbow Dash jumped in and caught the ball.
Then, the rainbow-haired girl proceeded to go towards the other basket, but Michiru got in her way.
They moved back and forth until Rainbow Dash tricked Michiru with a feint before she could continue running.
Michiru tried to catch up, but in the end, Rainbow Dash came and with a leap, basket the ball straight into the basket.
"*Whistle blows* Point for Rainbow Dash!" said Pinkie Pie.
"HA. What did you think of that?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"You may have won this time, but the match continues." said Michiru.
For the next few minutes a very even match happened, as Michiru and Rainbow Dash went back and forth, stealing the ball, blocking shots, and making baskets.
It didn't matter what they tried, as each found a way to score more points than the other.
"*Whistle blows* End of the game! The score is… a tie!" said Pinkie Pie showing the sign where it showed that both players had scored the same number of points.
"I must admit I didn't expect this result." said Rarity.
"But it's okay. Neither has lost." said Fluttershy.
"But neither has won either." said Spike.
"I don't think that matters." said Nazuna.
"She's right. They may have been focused on scoring before, but after a while they were starting to have fun." said Sunset.
"Like two good friends." said Twilight.
Rainbow Dash and Michiru were leaning on their knees with their hands while breathing heavily due to the exercise they had done.
"Um… Tie, huh? Not bad." said Rainbow Dash.
"Same here. I haven't tried this hard since I played in school." said Michiru.
"Shall we try again sometime? I'll win the next one." said Rainbow Dash standing up fully and extending her hand towards her.
"You're wrong. I'll be the one to win next time." said Michiru standing up and shaking her hand with the rainbow-haired girl's hand.
"Now that's sportsmanship." commented Applejack.
"What do you say we go get some ice cream?" asked Sunset.
"Yeah, I could use one after all that exercise." said Michiru.
After changing and getting everything set up, Mane 7 left to enjoy the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, Shirou continued his search for the intruder by jumping from rooftop to rooftop in his beastman form.
He stopped on a roof and sniffed the air a bit, but let out a grunt of frustration when he detected nothing.
"I don't get it. I've been looking for him for hours and haven't found anything. Either he's not in this specific city or he's managed to hide his scent somehow. Either way, I have to keep going until I cover the whole city. I can't let him roam free to do whatever he's planning." said Shirou before jumping to another rooftop to continue his search.
Speaking of the intruder, he was in his hiding place, pouring a couple of drops of a liquid into a container filled with a pink liquid. Soon after, the liquid turned green.
"There. According to the data, it should be the right formula, but I'd need to test it. Mmm." expressed the intruder with a finger to his chin. "I think I'll take a walk around the streets of this city." said the intruder before pulling out a syringe and filling it with the green liquid. "I'm sure I'll find a good test subject." said the intruder laughing evilly as he looked at the green liquid in the syringe which began to glow slightly.
AN: What is he really planning? What is that strange liquid? Does it have something to do with Michiru and the others? Why am I asking you all these questions when we can wait for the next chapter to find out?
